Kendrick Lamar and SZA embarked on the Grand National Tour in April 2025. After kicking off at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the tour covered much of North America through June.

My numb backside was 100% worth it.
As someone who typically eschews mainstream hip-hop for its predictable tropes, I must begrudgingly concede that Kendrick's lyrical prowess and conceptual depth left me thoroughly impressed. His deconstruction of 'The Heart Part 5' was particularly revelatory, though some philistines in the crowd missed its nuanced sociopolitical commentary. The jazz ensemble's integration was *chef's kiss* - reminiscent of Gil Scott-Heron's early work. Even the light design showed remarkable restraint. Hate to say it, but... perfection.
I literally collapsed to my knees when Alright started playing. The way the crowd's energy lifted me up while tears streamed down my face... Kendrick saw me crying in section 103 and pointed right at me during the second verse! I've never felt so seen. My makeup was DESTROYED but my soul was HEALED. This wasn't just a concert, it was spiritual therapy. Still getting chills thinking about it πβ¨ Changed my life forever.
Pulled up 6 deep but left with like 20 new friends?? The energy was UNREAL - started a whole synchronized dance party during DNA and security just vibed with us π Our row literally became a family by the end of HUMBLE. Shared our snacks, traded bracelets, now we got a group chat going! K-dot didn't just perform, he created a whole community in that arena. Still can't feel my voice from screaming every lyric with my new fam. IYKYK π€β¨
As someone who's designed concert staging for 15+ years, I was FLOORED. The hydraulic platforms, synchronized LED matrices, and that brilliant 'mirror box' effect during 'DNA' were next level. The way they used negative space during 'HUMBLE' with just silhouettes and laser mapping? Pure genius. Even the fog dispersion timing was perfect - not a single sight line issue. Technical perfection meets artistic vision.
Look, Kendrick absolutely KILLED IT. The visuals were insane, his flow was perfect, and N95 had me levitating fr. But can we talk about how they charged me $18 for a basic water bottle at concessions? I'm still processing this financial trauma while replaying the concert in my head. As someone who's memorized every adlib on GKMC, this setlist was PERFECTION. That deep cut performance of 'The Heart Part 4' into 'For Free?' was insane. When he did the extended third verse on 'Sing About Me' with the crowd completely silent... CHILLS. The way he interpolated 'u' with 'Mother I Sober' showed his artistic evolution. Real ones know how special that moment was. My 7th K-Dot show and easily the most conceptually cohesive.
When he dropped P&P 1.5 from Overly Dedicated I almost passed out. Real ones know. The GKMC to Mr Morale progression was masterful, though I wish he included more from Untitled Unmastered (that Section.80 to DAMN. transition though π₯). That rare Performance live version of Cartoon & Cereal was worth the ticket alone. Minor points off for no 'Look Out For Detox' but the Black Friday freestyle made up for it. True artistry.
Kendrick absolutely killed it - his energy was unreal and the production value was insane. But can we talk about the 6 different beach balls bouncing around during HUMBLE.? One hit my nachos and I had cheese all over my new shoes. Still giving 5 stars because the show was that good, but seriously who brings beach balls to a rap concert? ππ The DNA performance made me forget about my cheesy Jordans anyway.
Went because my intern wouldn't stop talking about him. Now I'm the one quoting 'DNA' in budget meetings. Had to explain to HR why I whispered 'sit down, be humble' during last week's quarterly review. My Excel formulas now have Kendrick references and I've never been more alive. Been going to shows since The Clash in '83, and this wasn't just another hip-hop concert. The orchestration with live band transitions was something I've never seen executed this flawlessly. Reminded me of Pink Floyd's Wall tour in terms of theatrical ambition, but with a raw energy that had me forgetting my bad knee. The pgLang dancers' synchronized movements during 'N95' created visual poetry that even trumped Bowie's Glass Spider tour. When that beat dropped on 'Money Trees', my 40 years of concert experience told me I was witnessing history.
Never thought I'd be nodding along to hip-hop at my age, but here we are! Brought my teens expecting to need earplugs, but ended up learning every word to 'HUMBLE.' during our pre-show car rides. Kendrick's storytelling had me absolutely mesmerized - it's like Shakespeare meets modern poetry. My kids were shocked when I knew all the lyrics to 'DNA.' The look on their faces = priceless! Working security at shows can be rough but man... when Kendrick came to the edge of the stage during DNA, he saw me mouthing every word and gave me the mic to finish the verse! My hands were shaking but I NAILED IT. Whole crowd went wild. Best part? My supervisor was too hyped to even be mad that I broke protocol. Still can't believe this really happened. K.Dot really looks out for his day one fans, even when they're on the clock! π€πͺ

The moment he started performing 'LOVE.' I completely lost it. Mascara everywhere, shaking, couldn't even film. The couple next to me handed me tissues while I ugly cried through the whole song. When Kendrick spoke about healing generational trauma, I felt that in my SOUL. Been through so much this year and somehow this concert felt like therapy. Thank you K-dot for helping me feel seen.
