About

Kansas in Concert

With a legendary career spanning more than four decades, KANSAS has firmly established itself as one of America's iconic classic rock bands. This "garage band" from Topeka released their debut album in 1974 after being discovered by Wally Gold, who worked for Don Kirshner, and have gone on to sell more than 30 million albums worldwide.

Composing a catalogue that includes fifteen studio albums and five live albums, KANSAS has produced eight gold albums, three sextuple-Platinum albums (Leftoverture, Point of Know Return, Best of KANSAS), one platinum live album (Two for the Show), and two one million-selling gold singles, ‘Carry On Wayward Son' and ‘Dust in the Wind.' KANSAS appeared on the Billboard charts for over 200 weeks throughout the ‘70's and ‘80's and played to sold-out arenas and stadiums throughout North America, Europe and Japan. ‘Carry On Wayward Son' continues to be one of the top five most played songs on classic rock radio, and ‘Dust In the Wind' has been played on the radio more than three million times!

2016 marked the release of "The Prelude Implicit," KANSAS's fifteenth studio album. The wide-ranging progressive rock album was released on InsideOut Music, and marked the band's first studio album release in 16 years.

Throughout 2016-2017, the band celebrated both the release of "The Prelude Implicit" and the anniversary of breakout album "Leftoverture" with the highly successful KANSAS: Leftoverture 40th Anniversary Tour. That tour was released in 2017 as a live album, "Leftoverture Live & Beyond."

The band, which is currently comprised of keyboardist Tom Brislin, original drummer Phil Ehart, bassist/vocalist Billy Greer, vocalist/keyboardist Ronnie Platt, violinist/guitarist David Ragsdale, guitarist Zak Rizvi, and original guitarist Richard Williams. KANSAS continues to perform in front of large and enthusiastic audiences around the world.

Along with constant touring, KANSAS continues to remain a fixture of Classic Rock radio. The band has reached a whole new audience through their unmistakable presence on the popular video games Rock Band and Guitar Hero, and through their songs' inclusion in various television shows such as ‘Supernatural,' and ‘South Park,' and with films ‘Old School,' and ‘Anchorman.'

    Outstanding performance

    by RHR3 on 4/16/24Genesee Theatre - Waukegan

Only one original member of Kansas was able to perform that night (Richard Williams), but what a show! As a Kansas fan, I was delighted and amazed that the band not only played the popular songs, but did several deep dives into some of Kansas' lesser known but magnificent and very difficult (to play) music, and they played it flawlessly! Top that off with the fact that the sound mix was perfect. I could hear every instrument clearly. Great job to Kansas and to the venue (Genesee Theater in Waukegan, IL)!!

    No, Local connection for concert

    by Kansas bartender on 4/4/24

It’s not the bands fault they can’t be everywhere… The small town that my wife and I moved to. Where we live now… We have to usually head north from where we live… The biggest venue nearby would be Coos Bay, Oregon. Sadly, its not on your list.

    Disappointed

by Nin on 3/31/24The Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Center - El Paso

One song sounded like the one before and the one after. If it weren’t for the “new guys” there would not have been any concert. The music was changed too much from the original.

    Kansas Review

by Raph on 3/21/24The Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Center - El Paso

This was the second time that I saw Kansas. Both concerts were excellent. But this second concert I attended was even better than the first. Highly recommended. Their violinist was first rate and a show stealer.

Great concert! The band sounded fantastic. They played for over 2 hours - a combination of their classics and some newer stuff. They were very interactive with the audience.

    Worth waiting 44 years

by Loop on 3/20/24The Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Center - El Paso

Rich Williams is the remaining member of the original band Kansas, but this lineup is amazing, and is faithful to the band, both the original, and all its incarnations since. The band was energetic, loved the set that they played, which included songs from most of their albums. The Plaza theater was an excellent venue, and I was grateful to be able to travel back in time and enjoy of the most talented bands ever.
