About

JUDY COLLINS IN CONCERT:

Legendary singer-songwriter Judy Collins has lent her iconic voice to an impressive range of genres over her five decade career, from her beloved folk work to acclaimed forays into rock and show tunes. Whether she's taking fans down memory lane with nostalgic performances of "Both Sides, Now" or breaking hearts with "Send in the Clowns," Collins never fails to imbue her material with the wistful romance that makes her performances so moving. Back on the road with a diverse collection of classic material, she is set to stun on her upcoming tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in Seattle, Collins grew up studying classical piano under the rigorous tutelage of acclaimed pianist Antonia Brico. After being exposed to folk music in her teens by her radio DJ father, she made a shift towards lyric-based guitar music. Immersing herself in Greenwich Village's folk scene, Collins worked as a street performer and played small clubs before eventually attracting the attention of Elektra Records and releasing her 1961 debut A Maid of Constant Sorrow. While her early albums offered a straightforward folk sound, she branched out on 1966's In My Life, recording songs by artists as diverse as Leonard Cohen and Jacques Brel and incorporating lush orchestration -- a bold move for a folk artist at the time.  The stylistic shift proved a success, earning her a Grammy in 1968 for "Both Sides, Now" and setting the tone for much of her later work. Collins continues to be a consummate performer, stunning fans around the world with her continued grace and charm in concert.

"Cannot believe what a marvelous voice at age 74. A truly spectacular performance by a vital artist!"

    Enchanting

by Steph on 1/31/24Bijou Theatre - Knoxville

Between songs Judy told stories and jokes. They were very interesting and funny. Music was beautiful and enchanting! She did have a cold which affected some of the high notes, but I can’t lower my rating because of something she can’t control.

Judy Collins still "has it". Even fighting through a cold she put on a great show. Lot's of good music and stories

I saw her probably 25 to 30 years ago and her voice is as clear and strong as it ever was. It was an amazing concert, and I was privileged to be able to see her again.

by Mark and Joanie on 1/31/24Bijou Theatre - Knoxville

Judy Collins voice is nothing short of amazing. Perfect pitch. And while her songs were wonderful, the stories she told were also so very interesting. She is truly a gifted artist and we are so glad we got to spend an evening with her in concert.

    Fantastic Experience

by Richard on 1/23/24Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra Beach

We saw a legend that can still perform at a high level in her eighties. Her voice was magnificent and here stories were interesting and fun. She performed a great mix of old favorites plus songs from her new album.

    Stellar performance

by Billy on 1/22/24Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra Beach

For having sung for 7 decades, it was truly amazing to hear her and her accompanying pianist and guitarist serenade us with works selected from her 50+ albums.

    Solid

by gmc on 1/22/24Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra Beach

I caught Judy Collins in Ponte Vedra, Florida. At 84 she just released her 55th album. Before a sold out music hall, her voice was strong for a 90 minute set which included "Send In The Clowns", "Diamonds and Rust"and "Both Sides Now". Be prepared for disarming patter between songs. - It's a joy to support the pioneers of music while it's still possible.

I loved the music but had no idea she was hilarious as well. I just loved the stories she told of her life in music.

    Old songs

by Listener on 1/21/24Buckhead Theatre - Atlanta

I wish she had talked less and sung more old songs that we all might have known.

    Still a great voice!

by Tex on 1/20/24Buckhead Theatre - Atlanta

Judy Collins' voice is still stellar. It is crystal clear and she can still hit all the high notes. I addition, she can hold her high notes to finish songs! Her autobiographical sketch dragged a bit. It would have been nice to hear more of her classic tunes. Nonetheless she did a fantastic job singing "Send in the Clowns"and "Someday Soon." She performed for two hours and did an encore of John Lennon's "Imagine."Nice but I would have preferred one of her classics. I enjoyed the the concert!

Strong voice and sweet connection with audience.

by Joel D. on 1/19/24Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

When Judy was escorted to the stage from the wings she looked frail. But she stood in front of the mike most of the 90 minute concert and sang with a strong clear voice. She has a wonderful gift of connecting with her audience. It was a delight to see her again in such good form.

    Judy Sings Again!

by Judy was great' unfortunately, the sound system was not. It was much too loud. on 1/19/24Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

Judy Collins voice is as good as ever. Her song selection was an excellent blend of the old and new. The one unfortunate thing was the sound . The volume was much too loud, and it detracted from the great vocals and instrumentation. Too bad.

    Magical night with Judy Collind

by JPC on 1/19/24Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

Everything worked out perfectly. Parking was easy and, although there were online negative reviews, there was a gracious attendant on every floor to make sure all went well. You walked through the skywalk and through the Au Rene theater and again signs and attendants helped you through. The theater was perfectly sized. Judy Collins was incredible. And her guitarist and pianist were excellent. She told tales through the performance and changed each memorable song with an incredible use of multiple pitches and unwaveringly lengthen notes. A humble and incredible artist.,
