Juan Luis Guerra has created a synthesis of slinky bachata and posh merengue rhythms, and when he performs it live, he brings a slice of the Dominican Republic's culture to the stage. As one of the DR's biggest musical exports, the suave crooner has captivated legions of fans with his sophisticated folk formula. He's joined forces on stage with some of the best, including Sting, The Rolling Stones, Paul Simon and Maná.

Juan Luis Guerra Seijas was born in the Dominican Republic in 1957, and like love at first sight, Guerra felt an instant affinity for his country's native genres. Back then, bachata and merengue ran in different circles — the former was considered crass and lowbrow, while the latter would be dubbed the national identity of DR by decree. The artist launched his singing career in the late '80s, but it wasn't until 1990 with Bachata Rosa that he catapulted bachata to global prominence. He elevated the genre by adding a tinge of merengue into his musical recipe — Guerra is widely considered the first to do so — and earned a Grammy for it. He kept the sonic elegance going strong, but the racy double entendres, traditionally a characteristic of bachata lyrics, got the song "Burbujas de Amor" banned in several countries. Today, "Burbujas" is recognized by Rolling Stone as one of Latin pop's greatest songs of all time. With over a dozen studio albums that also dabble in rock, salsa and even gospel, the legendary performer proves that his creativity is limitless In 2019, the Billboard Latin Music Awards honored Guerra with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his artistic excellence.
First of all the show did not start too late. Some artist can learn from this professional. He sang all of my favorite songs covering at least 5 different CDs. This event should have been a 3 night event. He has so many hits that this party could have lasted all night. Thank you so much for the beautiful music. Eres una leyenda y un icono musical !!!!

What a performance! He is a complete artist. His music, his lyrics, his songs, everything is perfect. You cannot help yourself but get up from your seat and dance throughout the concert! An unforgettable show!!!
I had a wonderful time at the show, I was in second tier front row and had a wonderful view. I had seen the same show at MSG, but by far the accustics and the feel were better at RCMH. Recommend!

I was looking forward to seeing this man live for years. The show was basically just him singing, 440 standing, and the band playing, that's it. No cheorography, not much crowd control, I can't believe I'm saying this but he's a little boring. My sister tells me he's getting old and is very religious and serious now. I was definitely looking forward to a legendary night, I would have been fine having the worst seats of the theatre and just listening to the speakers.

I was so happy I was able to see Juan Luis Guerra y 440 at Radio City Music Hall. It's a much better venue than Madison Square Garden. This is my fourth time seeing them and I am excited every single time. Their performance was great. I can't wait to see them again.
He is a wonderfull singer, writer,etc...What I like the most was...He was by himself, no bands of introduction. Great Job!! Outstanding!
