Juan Luis Guerra on Tour
Juan Luis Guerra has created a synthesis of slinky bachata and posh merengue rhythms, and when he performs it live, he brings a slice of the Dominican Republic's culture to the stage. As one of the DR's biggest musical exports, the suave crooner has captivated legions of fans with his sophisticated folk formula. He's joined forces on stage with some of the best, including Sting, The Rolling Stones, Paul Simon and Maná.
Juan Luis Guerra in Concert
Juan Luis Guerra Seijas was born in the Dominican Republic in 1957, and like love at first sight, Guerra felt an instant affinity for his country's native genres. Back then, bachata and merengue ran in different circles — the former was considered crass and lowbrow, while the latter would be dubbed the national identity of DR by decree. The artist launched his singing career in the late '80s, but it wasn't until 1990 with Bachata Rosa that he catapulted bachata to global prominence. He elevated the genre by adding a tinge of merengue into his musical recipe — Guerra is widely considered the first to do so — and earned a Grammy for it. He kept the sonic elegance going strong, but the racy double entendres, traditionally a characteristic of bachata lyrics, got the song "Burbujas de Amor" banned in several countries. Today, "Burbujas" is recognized by Rolling Stone as one of Latin pop's greatest songs of all time. With over a dozen studio albums that also dabble in rock, salsa and even gospel, the legendary performer proves that his creativity is limitless In 2019, the Billboard Latin Music Awards honored Guerra with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his artistic excellence.

JLG's voice still sounds great, the orchestra members performed great as well, I enjoyed his show, the background images, etc. Only complain is that the audio quality, especially when the whole orchestra was playing together, it sounded distorted, I guess that was a sound engineering problem?
OMG this concert was amazing, what great night. I danced all night. It was nostalgic for me because I had attended many Juan Luis Guerra concerts back in my country Dominican Republic and it brought so many good memories. Glad to know that this was his first time performing in Utah ny new home, it made more special for me. The opening with DJ Korduroy was also amazing. It has been so far his best concert, Juan Luis Guerra always exceed expectations. #foreverfan Happy to have Dominican music in Utah!
The singer performing was extraordinary as well as the musicians.
It was awesome to go to the concert. I enjoyed every single minute there. Good music good songs.. the best attitude of the artist and how he connect people and cultures altogether. The place was very organized even the amount of people and I really respect how you made us enjoy that excellent artist.. my favorite.
One of the best concerts. Excellent sound, wonderful special effects. Juan Luis Guerra and 440 are awesome.
We like the concert, the artist very nice, the good sound, good security. Nice place
The opening act techno DJ, the band (4.40), the visuals were all absolutely 5 stars. The volume combined with the echo-encumbered acoustics of the venue (hockey arena) pulled the score down a bit.
JLG is a fantastic entertainer with a large catalog of music. His band, 4:40, is tremendous too. The venue isn’t great. We waited more than 30 minutes in line to get in the one entry door. But once the music starts, you forget about the hassle.
Most everything was great, except for the parking prices (really getting out of hand) and the sound system really showing its age. Compared to other venues I've attended recently, this one was certainly loud but it was very hard to make out the singer's voice from the instruments.
