Journey in Concert

As the original legends of arena rock, few bands in existence put on a show quite like Journey. Anchored by singer Arnel Pineda's thrilling vocals and Neal Schon's unstoppable guitars, the band continues to show fans, both old and new, exactly how it's done as they tear through marathon sets of classics like "Don't Stop Believin'" and "Open Arms." After a short break from their relentless tour schedule, they're primed to blow minds again in 2014, pairing up with Steve Miller Band for select dates that are sure to be the stuff of classic rock legend for years to come.

Journey Background

San Francisco-born Journey is the quintessential arena rock band. Assembled in 1973 from the ashes of Santana and Frumious Bandersnatch, the band has since gone through a number of line-up changes — only stalwart guitarist Neal Schon has been with every incarnation. Despite a rotating roster, the band has sold 47 million albums in the US, and is consistently named one of the ten best American rock bands in history. While the '70s and '80s provided them with the most commercial success, their current manifestation with Filipino singer Arnel Pineda has given them truly global breadth.

    Concert of a Lifetime

by Jo & Rob on 4/29/24Scope Arena - Norfolk

Journey was absolutely FABULOUS, as expected! But what made this even better was how good the opening band, Toto, was also! Never been to a better concert, and we've been to many!

    So many good songs!

by Jeannie on 4/29/24Scope Arena - Norfolk

It was the 2nd time we've been to their concerts & its a good evening for all the fun, beautiful hit songs that were sung. This time, got a bit bored with so many guitar solos taking up some of the time.

    Great Time

    by Xxmagical99 on 4/29/24Scope Arena - Norfolk

We had awesome seats next to the stage with a great view!! I loved it. The performance was spot on! Would definitely go see these two bands again!

    Horrible Parking

by CP on 4/29/24Scope Arena - Norfolk

If The Scope is going to have a concert when tickets went on sale in September 2023 would'nt it make sense to have adequate parking? No direction or organization at all. Plus another $10.00 when one has already spent a lot of money already on tickets. Maybe for other concerts "the powers that be"can get it together.

    Too much echo

by Wayneb on 4/29/24Scope Arena - Norfolk

Great seats, great performance from both bands. I really enjoyed the concert however, we were mid-way between the stage and the back of the arena. There was a horrible echo where we sat. The sound was very bad a times because of the echo and maybe slight "feedback"through the sound system. Otherwise, this was easy to get to, entrance processing was very easy and the lines moved quickly. Parking nearby was also very easy and inexpensive. Other than the sound, I would only comment on how sticky the floor was in my row. I would come back again!

    Great Concert!

by Wheels on 4/29/24Scope Arena - Norfolk

This Toto and Journey Concert was great! The arrival processing was quite good, and the concert remained right on schedule. My only ugh was that the floor seating wasn't staggered left/right so I had a tough time seeing the stage because of the large man sitting directly in front of me...had the seats been staggered left right this would have been less of an issue.

GREAT MUSIC....VENUE NOT SO MUCH...CRAMPED SEATING

by CANDY on 4/29/24Scope Arena - Norfolk

Enjoyed both Journey and Toto. The concert was well presented, great graphics and the bands clearly were prepared to give the audience mostly what they came for. Journey did wander into a lot of jams which is not really what we went there for but mostly played their top hits. The absence of Steve Parry was evident but the lead singer for Journey did a pretty good job. Toto was also great and the only song that I missed was Breakfast in America. But overall the concert was awesome and went on for close to four hours. We definitely got our moneys worth. Not so great was the seating at Scope Arena in Norfolk VA. We had low level seats very close to the stage. The seats were small and very cramped together. It made for an uncomfortable seating arrangement though we did have full view of the stage and bands. The sound was also not the best. Songs with a lot of base sounded muffled. I would recommend this concert but won't go to Scope for any future music events. The place is small, cramped and stuffy. It really detracted from fully enjoying this concert.

    Awesome show

    by Valfromthe80s on 4/29/24Scope Arena - Norfolk

Loved the show. Toto was great and Journey was fantastic. Loved how the arena was almost sold out and everyone was rocking on every song. Only would have been better with a little less Neal Schon coverage.

waited a lifetime but felt ho-hum

by Bill on 4/29/24Scope Arena - Norfolk

Grew up listening to Journey, first band I ever remembered while getting ready for school in the morning. Felt really excited to finally see my childhood band, but the acoustics and sound mixing was off. Mostly the mixing was not allowing me to fully hear the vocals as the instruments drowned out the singer(s). The arena was not helping either, couldn't figure out if it was the speakers or how the sounds were bouncing off the walls. But either way this will be my last concert in an arena. I am happy to have attended and hit that bucket list item. The Virginia Beach amphitheatre is open air and has massive quality speaker sets so, I will just focus in on summer concerts there for now on.

    Overwhelming and Epic

by Kara on 4/29/24Scope Arena - Norfolk

Toto was incredible. Their musicality and vocals were outstanding. They were very engaging and they played all of the hits of my childhood. Journey was equally amazing. I could tell that the lead singer was a bit tired vocally but he was incredible. The pianist that sang the Steve Perry song was also incredible. It was such a great night of music and memories. And yes I cried when Toto played Africa and Journey played Open Arms. The sound was a bit off in parts but that could have been in relationship to how we were positioned with the speakers. High ends got a little hurtful. But overall it was a wonderful night! Highly recommend showing up for both bands as they will leave it all on the stage for you.

It was phenomenal! Once in a lifetime event!

by Kelly on 4/29/24Scope Arena - Norfolk

Journey has just gotten better and better. Still miss Steve Perry. But a truly memorable night! You know it's good when the audience knows the songs and is singing louder than the lead singer and the band. A Night to Remember.

    Great Show... But...

    by MH6427 on 4/29/24Scope Arena - Norfolk

Toto and Journey never disappoint and this concert was no exception. That being said, the venue is horrible is home to the most uncomfortable seats around. Hampton Roads has a lot of first class music venues and I have never had my back hurt like it did when I left Scope on Friday night.

    Sad

by ole man on 4/29/24Scope Arena - Norfolk

Toto should headlined. Old songs played with lack of new energy sounds. Head line singer needs to stop running around and sing. This style of concert was good fifty years ago. Light effects were great, sound system just didn't give needed sound to give what was needed They need to give it up.
