About

As the original legends of arena rock, few bands in existence put on a show quite like Journey. Anchored by singer Arnel Pineda's thrilling vocals and Neal Schon's unstoppable guitars, the band continues to show fans both old and new exactly how it's done as they tear through marathon sets of classics like "Don't Stop Believin'" and "Open Arms." Formed in 1973 in San Francisco from the ashes of Santana and Frumious Bandersnatch, the band has since gone through a number of lineup changes — only stalwart guitarist Neal Schon has been with every incarnation. Despite a rotating roster, the band has sold 52 million albums in the U.S., making them the eleventh best-selling band in American history. While the '70s and '80s provided them with the most commercial success, their current manifestation with Filipino singer Arnel Pineda has given them truly global breadth.

Night Ranger and Foreigner were great - the main act Journey was extremely bad. Lead singer was not good at all. Screamed the whole time. Would not see them again for the big ticket price, not worth the price paid.

    Foreigner was the best !!!

by Timbersmom on 10/10/11MGM Grand Hotel - Las Vegas

Night Ranger was better than I expected. Really sounded good and played just long enough to make it enjoyable. Foreigner ,second time in a year seeing them, was by far the best. These guys still rock and sound just like they did in their "day". Journey...music was so loud that it drowned out the lead singer who in turn had to scream , instead of sing, which didn't make him sound all that great. Too much "heavy metal" guitar music. Journey is not a heavy metal band. Lead singer also had to drink water and spray his throat every 30 seconds. Very distracting. Overall, good concert. Would continue to see Foreigner when they come to town.

    fantastice concert

by mj1769 on 10/10/11MGM Grand Hotel - Las Vegas

What a great combination it went from good to better to awesome Night Ranger warmed up the people, Foreigner pushed the envelope and Journey blow the doors wide open the only time there was a dead spot was when they switched over from one band to the next, but each band got on stage and played there hearts out Awesome I would go and see them again anytime Thank you

To be honest, I was there to see Journey, but Night Ranger and Foreigner rocked. Great show.

    Journey sucked!

by journeysucked on 10/10/11MGM Grand Hotel - Las Vegas

Night Ranger: decent Foreigner: super Journey: laughable This concert would have been great if JOURNEY would have actually performed some JOURNEY songs!! The band members seem to think you want to hear each of them hit their own high note and play their own instrument. NO... we wanted to hear the songs we knew and loved from the GROUP. I've never seen so many people walk out of a concert while the lead band was playing! Foreigner was great and really had the crowd going and ready for Journey.... but Journey let us down. Foreigner should be the lead band with Journey as an opener... that's all they are qualified to do anymore. Wish I could get my money back! Feel sorry for those who bought the front row seats.... because even the cheap seats were a waste of money!

    Journey rocks

by thesk8erboi on 10/10/11Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre - Chula Vista

I had waited for years to see Journey, that show was incredible. Night Ranger was good, but they should have finished Hotel California instead of bailing on it 3 lines into the song, weak! Foriegner put on a great show, no doubt about that..

    All three bands were awesome!

by MasterCAD on 10/10/11MGM Grand Hotel - Las Vegas

Night Ranger has great flow on stage and great musicians. Good act guys! Foreigner was awesome. Lead singer was the bomb and the songs are still some of the best..good stage presence. Journey is Journey..always great, however three comments. The musicians in this band are fabulous..Neal and the gang. Arnel Pineda is a great voice, but if to compare, which everyone does, to Perry...not quite there yet. He doesn't have the resonance or can hit the high 5th octave like Steve did..close but you don't hand the microphone to the audience when you are supposed to hit those notes. The other thing is Arnel needs to work on his stage presence..the act...after all it is a show and you need to set your own unique style to be great. Sometimes I thought I was watching a little kid run around on the stage. Work on the power of the voice like Neil Diamond does his body motions to pronounce the voice and the high notes and you will fit in better with this awesome band...Great show overall.

    Journey and Foreigner!!!

by Jetcoff on 10/10/11MGM Grand Hotel - Las Vegas

It was amazing, just like I thought it would be!!! I am so humbled by the story of Journey's new lead singer! what an amazing story it was! He is an extremely talented singer/performer and I'm very happy that he's able to have this experience! If they come back in town I'll definitely be there!

Night Ranger & Foreigner rocked MGM...

by Trubritt on 10/10/11MGM Grand Hotel - Las Vegas

The show was like stepping back in time...Night Ranger and Foreigner were amazing and brought back some fond memories of the "good days". Journey put on a great show, although overcompensated with the acoustics as their new lead singer, Al, just isnt Steve Perry and it showed. Dont get me wrong Al can sing but his voice was in and out during all the songs - he still needs to find his niche!

It was Journey "light". An average tribute band. Great solos by the band. Lead singer was average at best. Not worth the price of admission.

    Journey into a Foreigner land

by Guga19 on 10/10/11MGM Grand Hotel - Las Vegas

Foreigner was terrific with Kelly Hanson singing well, with appropriate "solos" by the group. The Jim Morrison piece was a "Treat." Night Ranger was a pleasant surprise. Journey was not good, disappointing and a nuisance of extra sound, volume, long single cacaphonous solos. The 'traditional" Journey songs were not performed well and the "new" song about Manila got zero response from the crowd.

    Fantastic

by Fredsvette on 10/10/11MGM Grand Hotel - Las Vegas

I love Journey, they are my all time favorite; but I'd have to say Foreigner rocked it better!! They sounded fantastic, the songs brought you back in the day and they just kept things pumped up. Journey, sounded very good, but the concert was already running long, and the drum solo, guitar solo, piano solo, although very good, was too much. It was already late and that just prolonged getting to the songs I wanted to hear and sing to. With all that said, I would do this concert again in a heart beat! It was an amazing time in Vegas and just a flood of memories to enjoy!

    Foreigner Rocked!!!

by Nic1313131313 on 10/10/11MGM Grand Hotel - Las Vegas

Went for Foreigner, loved them!!! Did all great songs, and coulda done more!!! Concert venue was clean, staff was friendly, and tickets weren't to expensive. Started on time, Knight Ranger was good, but not into Journey. Didn't know that lead singer was replaced 4 years ago with a young Asian man... Um, didn't know any of their songs. Left after 3 Journey songs, at least they were last.

    Foreigner Was Great

by Jaddy4 on 10/10/11Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre - Chula Vista

I thought Night Ranger was a good start to the evening and Foreigner really rocked it and had the crowd going. Journey was good, but hard to hear the words and felt a bit off lyrically. But still an amazing show.

Foreigner vocalist still had it !!

by 19117pioneer on 10/10/11MGM Grand Hotel - Las Vegas

Night Ranger was excellent , good mix between vocal & music. Foreigner vocalist is still wonderful, music is not as smooth as it should be. Journey was so so, music a little too loud , vocal used too much effect .

    Journey/Foreigner/Night Ranger Las Vegas

by hotinvegas99 on 10/10/11MGM Grand Hotel - Las Vegas

Overall the concert was good. I missed the first group, Night Ranger because my Ticketmaster paperwork showed the concert started at 8pm when it started at 7:30. Was not happy. I thought the Foreigner set was the best. They got the the audiance engaged and did a great job. Loved them! I love Journey and this was the first time I heard the new singer and was not impressed. I didn't like his singing and he didn't work well with thd audiance. I was disappointed. Loved the guitarist though!! He is impressive to say the least.

    Night Ranger, Foreigner, and Journey

by Daicemanblue on 10/10/11Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre - Chula Vista

Foreigner took the show. All hits and the crowd was loving it. When Journey came on the crowd expected it to continue with the same momentum, but unfortunately it didn't carry through. While Journey was very good, Foreigner was great and they were amazing and worth the ticket price. If you are a product of the 80's then, this is the show to see.

Journey with Foreigner and Night Ranger

by toccaram on 10/10/11Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre - Chula Vista

Foreigner Rocked!!! I didn't care to much for Journey. I would never pay to see them again. The new singer just didn't do it for me.

    Awesome!!

by SammyR96 on 10/10/11Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre - Chula Vista

I wasn't to familiar with these bands as they were before my time. I do want to say though that it was an awesome concert and my Mother and 2 friends enjoyed it tremendously. They are a classic trio with music that never gets old. I recommend this concert to anyone of all ages. It could not have been any better. I give it an A+
