About

Joshua Radin grew up listening to classic Motown hits of the ‘60s, The Beatles, Paul Simon, James Taylor and Cat Stevens, influences which were to play a big part in his future career. He studied art at Northwestern University before moving to New York, buying a guitar and teaching himself how to play it and write songs.

His big break come in 2004 when he presented a copy of his very first song “Winter” to a TV producer by the name of Zach Braff with whom he eventually became close friends. He was so impressed he used it as a soundtrack on a scene in the comedy TV series Scrubs in 2004. After this exposure, demand grew for his work and soon his compositions were featuring in hit TV shows such as Brothers and Sisters, Grey's Anatomy, One Tree Hill and American Idol. In total he has written more than 75 songs which have been featured on TV.

He relocated to Los Angeles, signed with Columbia Records and released his first album We Were Here in 2006. It was received enthusiastically by fans and music critics alike receiving a four-star Rolling Stone review and achieving No. 1 position on iTunes Folk Album Chart. His second album Simple Times was released in 2008 under the Mom & Pop label and reached No. 34 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart. His most successful single from the album “I'd Rather Be With You” reached No. 2 on the Billboard Digital Songs chart. He released his third album The Rock and The Tide in October 2010 and achieved similar levels of chart and critical success, with it reaching No. 5 on the Billboard Independent Chart. His most recent album Underwater was released in 2012.

Radin has played with many musical greats both during his extensive touring career as well as on his popular albums. Guest performers have included Sheryl Crow, Tori Amos, Gary Jules, Belmont Tench, Jim Keltner, Johnny Flagher, Jason Borger, Victor Indrizzo, Lenny Castro, Maria Taylor and Patty Griffin among others. He has also written soundtracks for hit movies including The Nanny Diaries, Catch and Release, Dakota Sky and The Last Kiss. He is in demand for personal appearances on TV shows and, most famously, after appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, was asked to perform at her wedding.

    Blown Away

by pennywidmore on 11/12/16Irving Plaza - New York

This was my first time attending an event at Irving Plaza & first time seeing Joshua Radin, and I was highly impressed by both. The smaller capacity venue made the entire experience feel much more intimate, and I was very happy they offered upgrades to an elevated platform (where short people like me can actually see the stage!) I was blown away by Joshua's performance. It was just incredible, and his interaction with the audience was wonderful. He told some very sweet (and sometimes sad) stories to introduce some of his songs. The whole experience was just amazing; I'm still glowing a week later.

Kind of an odd venue with seats, tables, and food and drinks served, and this typically means distractions in the crowd. However, that could not be further from the truth, it was wonderful music and everyone in the crowd was there for one reason - to enjoy the great music and banter of Joshua and the Good Old War. Great night!

    Joshua Radin, my heart

by Hipstorical on 11/5/16The Wilbur - Boston

This wasn't my 4th time seeing Joshua Radin, and every time is better than the last. I love that he plays with the melodies of his songs when he sings live so that every show is unique and he tells stories and interacts with the crowd. It really makes it worth it to see him live and to keep coming back. His concerts are so intimate-- I feel like he's singing just to me. I also loved that the Wilbur had the tables set up this time with chairs so we could sit and have a server bring us drinks. I probably ended up spending a lot more on alcohol, but it was a great value added!

Great first show of the tour

by Mekail on 6/14/16Birchmere - Alexandria

I had actually not heard any of Joshua Radin's music before, and this was a first date. But we both wanted to catch some music, so I picked up tickets. After picking up tickets at will call, I met my date at the front bar and we had a drink before going in. Once we were in the show, we found a nice spot at a table with a good view. The opener was a solo acoustic player who was engaging with the crowd. When Josh came on, it was like one long dialogue with the audience with music interspersed. He had a very compelling sound and voice despite all of the apparent rust of a first night of the tour. Regardless, it was a really fun show for everyone.

A great venue for an evening with music like this. Laid back, not very big, and just Joshua Radin and his guitar. Was nice to be able to sit at tables and just enjoy a drink. Would have

by Shmatty on 3/24/15Irving Plaza - New York

Joshua was incredible as usual. Last show of the tour in NYC.....he was on his game. Mixed some new songs with his usual concert staples. Told some great stories. Sounded awesome. Can't wait for him to come back.

    Artists were amazing but....

by merrit15 on 3/24/15Irving Plaza - New York

All the performers were amazing! But the venue is oversold! It's crowded and you are standing the whole time. Even worse, people are talking over the performances...I can't tell you how many times I asked people to be quiet. It was frustrating! I felt like I wasted my money.

    Joshua Radin

by Anonymous on 3/19/15Center Stage Theater - Atlanta

Joshua Radin is a true entertainer with a unique voice as smooth as butter. His concert was amazing. His laid back style and openness of his life and often explains how the songs came to be written. His openers were just as talented. If you are not a fan you will leave the concert as one.

Joshua Radin will make you swoon!

by HideeGee on 3/19/15Center Stage Theater - Atlanta

Joshua Radin is absolutely amazing live. He makes you feel like you are the only one the in the room with him. He's funny and interacts with the audience. He took several suggestions from the crowd when he played his 5 song encore. Center Stage was also just big enough. There was no overcrowding and had great bar service.

Joshua is a gifted artist. He didn't just sing songs from his latest album. He sang several of his most popular songs. It was a great show.

Always a great performance from Joshua!

by r0ckyracc00n on 3/2/1520th Century Theater - Cincinnati

I went with my date, and the place was fairly crowded. He played a couple songs from his new album and gave us a little history to why he wrote the songs. He gave a great performance as well as the opening acts. At the end the concluded with an A' Capella Unplugged version of Don't Think Twice by Bob Dylan, which is the first song Joshua learned how to play. During the song they brought the openers out to sing along, at which they switched to Wont Back Down by Tom Petty. It was an awesome way to end the show!

Show started too early. Newport was freezing.

by Anonymous on 2/21/15Newport Music Hall - Columbus

Start Time at 6:30pm. Missed half the show. Venue didn't break 50 degrees. I left early I was so bored.

    Really good!

by JSMason on 2/20/1520th Century Theater - Cincinnati

We really enjoyed Josh - great musician who opened up quite a bit to show us his personality. But he only played for an hour and 15 mins - would have loved to hear more from him & less from the 2 openers. 1 opener always seems like more than enough.

Joshua Radin took my breath away

by Anonymous on 2/20/15Newport Music Hall - Columbus

I love Joshua Radin's music and it's even better live! His guitar and voice are so genuine and soothing. He's an excellent performer! Pairing him with Andrew Belle and Cary Brothers was a great idea and made for an unforgettable feel-good experience. I couldn't be more pleased!

    Josh Radin does not disappoint!

by Spangchmc on 2/20/1520th Century Theater - Cincinnati

This is my second time seeing Josh in concert. His music is made for these intimate settings. I felt like we were all hanging out at someone's house. I love that he shares the back stories to his songs-makes him relatable. The "in love" Josh is much more playful on stage! Even the loud jerky guy couldn't get to him. Cary Brothers and Andrew Belle were solid opening acts and their music compliments each other. This performance solidifies what I previously shared with my husband- we will see Josh Radin anytime we can. Pearl Jam was great (last year) at USBank arena but nothing beats a guy, and his guitar, telling his tales from a stage smaller than most school gyms. I'll take Josh every time.
