About

Josh Groban is an American crossover vocalist and songwriter covering classical, contemporary and pop styles. Josh enjoyed tremendous chart and critical success almost from the very start of his career with numerous gold- and platinum-selling records and worldwide tours in the 10-plus years he has been on the world stage. Blessed with a highly versatile voice that can range from upper baritone into the tenor range, Josh's unquestionably impressive vocals has made him one of the most popular crossover classical singers of the last 20 years.

He was born in 1981 in Los Angeles and attended Los Angeles County High School for the Arts before being offered a place at prestigious Carnegie Mellon University. While studying he was introduced to award-winning music producer David Foster, who invited the talented singer to work with him. After a number of stand-in roles, he impressed everyone he worked with and was signed to Warner Brothers and soon found himself on tour with Sarah Brightman. He featured on her DVD La Luna and quickly found himself in high demand. With the vocal ability to sing the classics as well as more contemporary and pop-styled songs, he was able to work with people like Elton John, Charlotte Church and Stevie Wonder, further stretching his talents and range.

By 2002 his self-titled debut album had gone double-platinum and he was appearing at events like the Nobel Peace Prize Concert and the Vatican Christmas Performance, alongside artists such as Sting, Celine Dion and Ronan Keating. His 2006 song “You Raise Me Up” won Josh his first Grammy nomination for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance and his third album, Awake, went double-platinum in both the USA and Canada. In 2007 Josh took part in a tour that brought him to 71 different cities around the world, truly establishing him as a worldwide vocal star.

His 2010 album Illuminations was another big hit and contained 11 songs written by Josh himself. It reached number four on the US Billboard chart and once again sold more than million copies in the USA. His 2013 album All That Echoes jumped straight into the Billboard Chart at No. 1. Josh has made a number of live appearances in front of huge crowds, such as his live TV special on PBS, the NFL Super Bowl and performing at the Concert For Diana at Wembley Stadium.

We had a great time and the only thing I would love to see change is all the people walking around while the concert was going on! Josh was amazing as always

    Introductory acts way too long

by Vince on 8/5/22Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Josh Groban was fantastic, however the introductory act featuring The Preservation Jazz Band took up too much time. I was not aware of the complete program. You should spell out more clearly what is going to be presented.

    Well it was great!

by Surprised and delighted on 8/5/22Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Its been awhile since I've been to the Greek. Josh did his thing! Fully invested now. A few suggestions: a Suttle for needed/elderly guest to & from parking H. Also, food for purchase after the event would be a win for both parties. All in all it was an awesome reacquainted moment and looking forward to the next!

    Fantastic experience

by Sharon on 8/5/22Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Loved Josh Groban, of course. He could not be better! But having the Preservation jazz from New Orleans open for him was such a delightful surprise! They too could not have been better! All in all, a truly fantastic emotional experience!

    Greek Theater Grobin

by Jim on 8/5/22Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Admittedly I was there with someone who is a much bigger fan of Josh than I. She loved it. I really like a few songs he sings, but otherwise I am not familiar with his music. It was enjoyable, but not amazing. Good stage presence and seems like a genuinely nice person, but his voice really works only for certain songs. Something different, but not someone I will see again any time soon. The Greek is a beautiful venue, staff is friendly, food is adequate but the traffic is worse than Dodger Stadium.

    Beautiful venue and concert

by MARIGRACE on 8/5/22Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

John Groban is a favorite singer of mine! I especially loved the last 3 songs that were in the style I've grown to love that he sings. Loved the opening acts especially the violin and woman he did a duet with. I was disappointed in the music presented earlier in the show so not like the deep soulful songs like he sang at the end of the show.

    Boring

by Lolita on 8/5/22Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

First hour was wasted by other jazz bands . He is trying to stand out as himself and not repeating other peoples songs. It’s an unfamiliar territory for the audience and not considered a “ hit”. Preferably he should include a few “ known “ popular songs to engage and attract audiences . It looked like he is performing only for the first few rows.

A Wonderful Night at the Greek

by CathieB on 8/5/22Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Josh Groban is a wonderful performer. Loved his funny ramblings to his velvet voice! He could sing the dictionary and I would swoon. That being said, I do wish that he sang more songs that I’d heard of before. He does include a lot of foreign language and show tunes because that’s his thing. His warm up acts were too long for my liking. Show started promptly at 7:00 pm and Josh doesn’t come on till nearly 9:00 pm. Forty-five minutes of New Orleans jazz was a bit much, I felt. But when Josh came on stage, he went until 10:30, non-stop , giving it his all . Just wonderful! The venue is great, and the parking not too terrible getting in and out of! A delightful evening!

Josh Groban at Greek Theatre 8/02/2022

by anonymous on 8/5/22Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

There were two opening acts, which wasn't disclosed when I bought the ticket. Josh Groban came on at 1'45" into the show, after intermission. He was personable, chatty, and a very good singer. I enjoyed the show but would have preferred a full evening of his music and more transparency when buying the ticket.

    Warm up way to long

by Palmdale fan on 8/5/22Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Hated the warm up time. Concert scheduled to start at 7:00, 1 hour 40 minutes of warm up before Josh Groban started? Sorry some of us have to work the next day. What ever happen to the 15 minute warm up. Will have to think twice about attending future concerts lf this is the new normal.

    Josh Groban Is Magic!

by Jenny C on 8/5/22Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

I have seen a lot of people in concert. I have seen a lot of great people in concert. I have seen almost all of my favorites in concert. Josh Groban is the best artist I've ever seen in concert! First, that voice is meant to be heard live. I love his music and he is 1000 times better live. I was blown away be how pure and amazing his live vocals are. Second, he's funny. Like Josh Groban made me pee a little I was laughing so hard funny. (I said it.) He's a great story teller and he brings you along for the ride. If you get the chance, see this man live! THAT VOICE!!!

    Not the best show!

by Jojo on 8/5/22Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

The lead in acts went way too long. Josh didn’t come on until 8:45 after a 7 o’clock start. Wished for more of prior hits. He is charming but talked a bit too much. Loved the back up choir!

by Enid on 8/5/22Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Everything ran smoothly and wonderfully. Love his audience rapport. Appreciate his gratitude and appreciation of his parents, the "piano in the living room" and his teacher. Love his simplicity and down-to-earth personality.
