About

Josh Groban is an American crossover vocalist and songwriter covering classical, contemporary and pop styles. Josh enjoyed tremendous chart and critical success almost from the very start of his career with numerous gold- and platinum-selling records and worldwide tours in the 10-plus years he has been on the world stage. Blessed with a highly versatile voice that can range from upper baritone into the tenor range, Josh's unquestionably impressive vocals has made him one of the most popular crossover classical singers of the last 20 years.

He was born in 1981 in Los Angeles and attended Los Angeles County High School for the Arts before being offered a place at prestigious Carnegie Mellon University. While studying he was introduced to award-winning music producer David Foster, who invited the talented singer to work with him. After a number of stand-in roles, he impressed everyone he worked with and was signed to Warner Brothers and soon found himself on tour with Sarah Brightman. He featured on her DVD La Luna and quickly found himself in high demand. With the vocal ability to sing the classics as well as more contemporary and pop-styled songs, he was able to work with people like Elton John, Charlotte Church and Stevie Wonder, further stretching his talents and range.

By 2002 his self-titled debut album had gone double-platinum and he was appearing at events like the Nobel Peace Prize Concert and the Vatican Christmas Performance, alongside artists such as Sting, Celine Dion and Ronan Keating. His 2006 song “You Raise Me Up” won Josh his first Grammy nomination for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance and his third album, Awake, went double-platinum in both the USA and Canada. In 2007 Josh took part in a tour that brought him to 71 different cities around the world, truly establishing him as a worldwide vocal star.

His 2010 album Illuminations was another big hit and contained 11 songs written by Josh himself. It reached number four on the US Billboard chart and once again sold more than million copies in the USA. His 2013 album All That Echoes jumped straight into the Billboard Chart at No. 1. Josh has made a number of live appearances in front of huge crowds, such as his live TV special on PBS, the NFL Super Bowl and performing at the Concert For Diana at Wembley Stadium.

    Excellent Josh Groban Concert

by MAF on 8/8/22Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

The Josh Groban Concert was fun & entertaining from beginning to end. The two opening acts were exceptional. Eleri Ward has a beautiful voice to play folk versions of Sondheim musical songs with just her guitar. The 2nd opening act, Preservation Hall Jazz Band were so talented with great singing & jazz solos. Josh Groban was very entertaining & funny talking to the audience, in between his beautiful covers of songs & songs that he wrote. You can see that his Groband is enjoying playing all the songs. Josh sang really great duet with Lucia Micarelli & her violin solo was incredible. He, also, sang a duet with Eleri Ward that was so beautiful. It was so cool when Josh's drum set was rolled onto the stage & he had an alternating drum jam with his percussionist & drummer of his Groband. Really great an orchestra was backing him up & a choir sang along on 4 songs during the concert! An exceptional concert.

    Best Ever!

by Stef on 8/6/22Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

I enjoyed the entire concert immensely. Groban's voice was in top shape and the other guests were enjoyable and entertaining. We ate before arrived, but I would have brought a picnic dinner if there were tables available like the Hollywood Bowl. That would have made the entire evening magical, since my husband loves to cook and makes amazing picnics. I noticed as we were arriving from the parking lots that there were picnic tables along the way, but these should be advertised so newcomers to the venue know about them and can take advantage.

Steller performances by all with interludes of comedy

by Pam Perry on 8/6/22Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Josh and his band were amazing as always. And both performances - The Preservation Hall Jazz Band and Eleri Ward were outstanding. No one delivers a concert like Josh. He is so interactive with the audience and reads them so well so that each concert is a reflection of what the crowd wants and needs in any given moment of his performance. Equally, Josh's band members, who we call the "Groband" are incredibly talented. Josh's Music Director, Tariqh Akoni not only directs orchestral and choral groups that accompany the band, but sings gloriously and is a master guitarist. Kaz Rodriguez is a world-known master drummer and music composer; Daniel Sadownick is a first-class master percussionist and Andre Amanga plus the bass like no other. Joining Josh on this tour was is friend of 20+years, Lucia Micarelli. She is so talented as a violinist and singer...she added a tremendous flare to this group. Guest performer Eleri Ward is on her way to serious stardom. With a signature singing voice that brings Stephen Sondheim songs to a life off a Broadway stage is just a touch of her talent. She writes her own music while rearranging covers in ways that make them her very own.

    Absolutely wonderful

by Tresha on 8/6/22Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Josh Groban is such a wonderful singer. His vocals are effortless and sings like an angel. The Greek Theater is one of my favorite places to see concerts. It’s more of an intimate setting, not too big of a place. The atmosphere at night is beautiful. The temperature is perfect. The sound is perfect. The staff is so nice and helpful.

    Wonderful Night

by Paul on 8/6/22Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Visited from Seattle to attend this concert with my daughter. Been over 30 years since I had been to the Greek Theatre (daughter's first time) and it was largely what I remembered. The open air, surrounding trees and hillsides, the wonderful sound system. The viewing monitors and some stage effects certainly added. Parked in Lot B about an hour before the start and outside of the security check we got in rather quickly. When the concert ended we joined the mass exodus but actually got to the car with little delay. Stop and go out of Griffith Park but smooth sailing once we got to Los Feliz. Two entertaining opening acts before Josh Groban took the stage. I was surprised how outgoing and humorous he was - pictured him as more buttoned down and staid prior to the concert. His talent and everything else made it a wonderful evening.

Great Show. Not so great venue.

by Papa J on 8/5/22Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

The show was amazing. Great stories by Josh and voice was as food if not better live. As far as the venue the greek is a nice place but..... the terrace areas have smaller seats so if you are on the I like to eat size you will not enjoy the seats.

Venue leaves a lot to be desired

by Judith on 8/5/22Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

The show was everything you could want once seated. Only 8 spots for handicapped parking. Nothing on the website explains shuttle parking was a block or two uphill and same for handicapped parking. Pulled out of line by guest services where they offered to exchange my ticket for a cheaper accessible seat. No thanks. Food was quite expensive but pre made, burnt and bland. Used to have great food stands. Get the hot dogs from the guys outside. Cheaper, and hot! You won’t have to juggle making up your burger, condiments, on your lap at your seat in a box too small w/out spilling half of it. Will not give you a second box, or a larger one, say they are not allowed. Staff helping with the wheelchair and once to and at my seat were 😊 Told me to use Uber next time as they can stop/ pick-up right in front like Hollywood Bowl shuttle does. Good thing I met friends. As we got to the shuttle area there were many more people in line and the guy said there is only one bus running now. Needless to say my friends said never mind, we will take you. Absolutely no provisions for handicapped.

    Josh Groban concert

by Yofi H on 8/5/22Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

What a fabulous experience we had at this concert! His guest performers were superb but Mr Groban put on a most wonderful concert. His powerful voice, gorgeous arrangements, talented band orchestra and choir were unforgettable. The stage design and lighting complemented the performance. Only criticism was the slow line for food or drink that was annoying.

Good show, bad time management /planning

by JT on 8/5/22Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Tickets showed 7pm. Please bear in mind this is a Tuesday, weekday, workday the following day. First, a front act for for about half hour or more, then another front act for about an hour or more,THEN...the instruments and equipment has to be set up and the show finally started at 847pm...if the parking was not stack parking, my entire party would have left the Greek Theater. Again, the show was good, but the time management is terrible. I would never attend another Josh Groban show in the future. In all the concerts I've attended, this is the worse when it comes to time management of the actual show.

    Better than ever

by Joey Simpson on 8/5/22Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Josh was much more chatty than he was in previous concerts I have attended. He has a wicked sense of humor, which was displayed numerous times. His sincerity and humanity were obvious in his introduction to song, but also in his interaction with the audience. His voice is as good as it has ever been, and his delivery just as passionate. He shared that this was the last show of this "Harmony" tour and that he had friends and family in the audience, which may have contributed to his relaxed manner. He did pace back and forth across the stage, which a friend likened to moving like a caged animal. However, his words and tone did not reveal any such stress. I liked his on-stage remote cameras, so the crew could get all of those shots without distracting camera people moving around the stage. Great show! Great guy!
