  • Go Go Go Joseph!

by MerryMusic on 5/18/14DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 5 out of 5

This is one of best musicals ever and the music is timeless! Although I had my doubts going in about any modernization of this wonderful tale, the changes to sets and concepts were subtle and well blended with the original story. The singing and dancing were terrific and it was great seeing a real life couple playing the lead roles. It was special to see them take the stage at the end and just sing together with no other cast members around. If you love Joseph, this version is not to be missed!

Spectacular musical sprinkled with humor. A modern take on a classic story.

  • High Energy!

by Anonymous on 5/16/14DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 5 out of 5

From the opening song to the last note sung the cast had us captivated. The music I've known all my life and this cast didn't disappoint. The humor was over the top and the insightful more touching songs filled our hearts. The use of color and light made for a very unique stage display with ever changing backgrounds. Joseph's brothers brought the show to a stop as the crowd clapped and cheered at the end of a high energy song. As the performance came to an end and the crowd jumped to its feet with applause, I asked myself, "I wonder if there are any tickets left for tomorrow night's performance,"

  • Joseph was Great!

by Donanobis on 5/1/14The Orpheum Theatre Memphis - MemphisRating: 5 out of 5

We so enjoyed the entire show. The dancing and staging were fantastic! Joseph (Ace) and his wife in real life (Diana) were so good. I especially liked when they sang together and the harmony was beautiful. The other soloists were also very good. This was a fun night with a very serious message about envy and about forgiveness. I would see it again --- for sure!

  • Joseph was incredible!

by JeWard on 5/1/14The Orpheum Theatre Memphis - MemphisRating: 5 out of 5

Joseph was an incredible play. It was funny, thought-provoking, and a good time. My wife and I have seen the play before and have the Donnie Osmond version on DVD. And we would love for the tour to come back to Memphis to see it again!

  • Joseph almost ruined the show

by Jmg1973 on 4/30/14The Orpheum Theatre Memphis - MemphisRating: 3 out of 5

While the ensemble as a whole was incredible, and I enjoyed the show, it suffered tremendously because show organizers obviously worried more about name recognition than actual talent in casting Joseph (and to some extent the narrator). Honestly, my college in Appalachia had talent a thousand times stronger in the two leading roles when the school had its production of the show. I had hoped with a nation full of talented performers, the director would have been able to cast an amazing vocalist as Joseph. However, Ace Young's weak, nasal, out of tune singing nearly ruined the whole experience for me. Thank heavens for the talent displayed by those playing the brothers and the Pharoah. They were amazing.

  • amazing dancing

The group dances and Josef's brothers were amazing .Pharao was a riot. Josef was mediocre and the narrator (lead singer ) had an aggressive and sharp voice. Most of the time she was screaming rather than singing.I did not enjoy her at all at ,at times had to clise my ears. Her voice was just not pleasant at all.

  • Shocking!

by llovelivetheatre on 4/30/14The Orpheum Theatre Memphis - MemphisRating: 3 out of 5

Having seen "Joseph..." at Theatre Memphis and loving it, I was shocked that this musical event attempted to appeal to the "younger sent," which it did, by making a mockery of the story with various musical styles, even Elvis! I think this was so unnecessary and made a fabulous event unappealing. I loved the actors, the staging, everything except as mentioned above.

  • I would see Joseph again!

The acting and singing were very, very good. The actors seemed to enjoy themselves too.

  • What a great family friendly event!

by Haney70 on 4/30/14The Orpheum Theatre Memphis - MemphisRating: 5 out of 5

After attending the opening night of the show with my Mother-in-Law and my 21 year old child, I decided that my 7 and 11 year olds would enjoy it as well so I bought tickets to take them later in the week. They more than liked it, they LOVED it! As a matter of fact, my 7 year old paid attention through the entire show asked before we even got out of the theater if we could find it on DVD so he could watch it again.

  • What a fun show!

My 11 year old son attended with me and he absolutely loved it! It was a great cast and well done!

  • Great special effects

by Raven61 on 4/29/14The Orpheum Theatre Memphis - MemphisRating: 4 out of 5

While this was a shortened version of other Joseph shows I've seen, it had some f the best special effects I've seen in a touring Broadway show. The actors, singing and orchestra were spot on! Great show!

  • This version of Joesph was wonderful!

by fanofBroadway61 on 4/29/14The Orpheum Theatre Memphis - MemphisRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen this play before, and this version didn't disappoint. My family had not seen it before, and now they are all fans. We even brought a visiting friend from Italy, and she was impressed. The narrator was fabulous! Joesph did a good job, too. The Good Days in Canaan number by the brothers was excellent.

  • Not my favorite "Joseph"

by 1carolinagirl on 4/29/14The Orpheum Theatre Memphis - MemphisRating: 4 out of 5

I have seen several productions of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" in the past and I must be honest, this was my least favorite. At the beginning of the musical I felt that the staging was modernized so much that the "lesson" being taught by the moderator was lost. The performances by the actors was exceptional though and eventually drew me into the story. This production had minimal props and relied too much on lighting effects for my taste. Even though it was not my favorite production, I would still recommend seeing it because "Joseph" is an amazing musical.

  • This play was Amazing!!!

by kingwebe on 4/29/14The Orpheum Theatre Memphis - MemphisRating: 5 out of 5

Ace and Diana, his wife, did an excellent job of controlling the whole musical. I liked the youthfulness in Ace's voice as a voice of Joseph. Diana sang more than any narrator I've ever heard. Her whimsical approach to what was happening was very entertaining. There were just enough modern looks to go with the Biblical history of the family to pull you into and out of the timeframe. It made it relevant to the "now". Elvis as Pharoah sure hit an accord with the Memphis crowd as we will always support the Elvis effect here. There were many touching moments with the family-related events. I appreciated all their hard work on stage to inform and entertain us. Thank you cast members!!!
