About

One of the most enduring shows of all time, JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT is the irresistible family musical about the trials and triumphs of Joseph, Israel's favorite son. The first collaboration of Andrew Lloyd Webber (Jesus Christ Superstar, Phantom of the Opera, Cats) and Tim Rice (Jesus Christ Superstar, The Lion King), JOSEPH blends pop, country and rock into an uplifting, technicolored story of biblical proportions. Retelling the Biblical story of Joseph, his eleven brothers and the coat of many colors, this magical musical is full of unforgettable songs including Those Canaan Days, Any Dream Will Do and Close Every Door. Broadway and television star Diana DeGarmo and Broadway star Ace Young will head up the cast of the new touring production of JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT.

    High Energy Joseph and Brothers

by TheGetawayCouple on 4/1/14Cadillac Palace - Chicago

High energy performance; innovative set presentations; delightful entertainment; storyline stays true to scripture but, presentation has modern, humorous twists; thoroughly enjoyable; well worth the ticket prices; Ace Young seemed genuinely joyful to be playing his part; I would see this production again if I were in Chicago again. I highly recommend this cast and performance.

    go go go joe!

    by theatregoer43 on 4/1/14Cadillac Palace - Chicago

the music was rich and excellent, the cast did their best . Joseph seemed a natural and the narrator did well. I only wish that Close Every Door was sung with more richness and similar to the original. I get the it's not Donny O but there was a lot of talent on the stage! great job to all. The brothers were amazing and gave the performance extra credit! video effects and lighting were excellent

Appeared Low Budget and Lacked Wow Factor

by LisaAndCasey on 3/31/14Cadillac Palace - Chicago

While Joseph commanded the stage, and fit the bill in many ways, I found the overall show a little disappointing. I missed the children's voices as back-up, and as a fun supporting piece of the story as it was originally. Props, stage sets, and costumes seemed very low budget for high priced tickets. Joseph held his own vocally and did not disappoint with, "Close Every Door." However, the Narrator role appeared to be one that she's still growing into - she got a little mousey sounding when she needed to "belt it out." Things improved a bit in the second half with Joseph's brothers sharing more of the stage and the vocals with great gusto and animation.

    Loved it !

by Anonymous on 3/31/14Cadillac Palace - Chicago

Over the years and at various places, this was the 7th time I've seen Joseph, as I now lovingly call it. Each was unique and this was no different. I thoroughly enjoyed it ! It's been 3 days since I left the theatre and I'm still humming the music. The cabaret scene was the most well done of all the other 6 shows I've seen. Bravo !!

    Wonderful show, great performance!

by BexxEverlast on 3/31/14Cadillac Palace - Chicago

The performance was more than wonderful - it was amazing! Those Canaan Days, One More Angel in Heaven, and Benjamin Calypso are my favorite songs from this cast. Those Canaan Days received a standing ovation from nearly 1/3 of the audience!! Very lively cast members and comical inserts that make it unique to our location/modern society. Dancing was superb! Loved it and would see it again if available in this area!!!

    enjoyable evening

by mvbl on 3/31/14Cadillac Palace - Chicago

Diana Degarmo has an unpleasant voice - very nasal, but the brothers did a great job. Nice light entertaining outing. If you are looking for fabulous singing, this is not the musical for you but we did enjoy ourselves

Definately not worth the price of the tickets. I took two grandchildren and would not recommend it to others.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor was Great!

by Sandiocean on 3/30/14Cadillac Palace - Chicago

This the 5th production that I've seen of this particular play. I think it was a great play! I am a little partial though as I truly LOVED the one with Donny Osmond a few years back. However, both the music and acting was excellent in this production. I would highly recommend going to see this production. Cadillac Palace in itself is a wonderful theatre, so between the production and the location, this was a win-win!!

    Joseph

by Teapotnut on 3/30/14Cadillac Palace - Chicago

Not bad, I have seen 2 other "Joseph" plays, one in London( the original) and one in Chicago in 1994. This one was more down scale, but well done. No children's choir! Joseph was a bit "munchinkin" ish in his vocals, and the narrator the same. Overall we enjoyed it. My three companions had seen the original version in Chicago in 1994

    Joseph was big disappointment

by Sanran on 3/30/14Cadillac Palace - Chicago

Have seen Joseph many times at different venues before this. This Joseph was the worst, I liked the Mundelein High School production better. The narrator and Joseph were bad. The narrator could not hit the high notes and screeched and Joseph's voice was not strong and all. The beginning scene made no sense at all. We talked to people in the audience and they agreed, big disappointment!

    Joseph was AMAZING!

    by sparkles15 on 3/30/14Cadillac Palace - Chicago

The production was really great. I was really excited to see Ace and Dianna in the lead roles. Ace's voice really lent to the part. I thought the range was a little out of Dianna's comfort zone, but her diction and acting abilities were really great. I loved the curtain call and when Ace and Dianna sang at the end together. Watching them together was a really neat experience!
