As always the Avalon ball room in GJ is one of the most intimate places to see a quality performer in a small venue. The hall sounds amazing and is a very comfortable place for a show. Don't Tell Anyone! Jorma as you would expect is amazing. His guitar playing and vocals are as good as any acoustic solo act I have ever seen. I was so excited to finally see him perform and it was more than I expected. A trip to his Fur Peace Ranch for some guitar instruction and a chance to hang out is still on my bucket list.
Jorma Kaukonen played his heart out and dazzled the audience. The music is timeless, thoughtful and at times, heart wrenching. He is beloved by his fans and deservedly so.
To see this virtuoso was a treasure I will always cherish. Talent persists and he will always be present.
The show and venue were top notch. I’ve been going to Tuna and Jorma shows for 50 years. To be able to see him perform locally , we are truly blessed.
I’ve seen Jorma and Hot Tuna dozens of times I’ve the years…this was one of Jorm’s best shows EVER. He played some favorites (How Long Blues, Been So Long, Keep on Truckin’) and then some tunes off his solo albums I’ve never heard him play (Too Many Years). One word: WOW!
Jorma was awesome- as usual. Sugarloaf PAC is a good spot too.
Jorma played a really great show, two sets, lots of music and everyone went home happy. Sugarloaf Performing Arts Center is a fabulous venue, it's renovated with wide comfortable seating, great acoustics and the people who work there are very friendly.
The guitar playing was great. The singing was not good. Everyone loses their voice at one time, and it’s time to sing for just fun, not at a concert. I wish I could say I was the only one that thought that, yet the entrance and lobby we full of people saying the same thing that loved his past performances. Sadly, it’s time to retire.
Very good performance but didn't play much that I'm familiar with except hesitation blues. Didn't play Genesis! Totally bummed!
It is amazing how music has kept these senior citizens young. Amazing show, great venue.
Jorma continues to show why he is still one of the premier guitarists on tour today. He effortlessly switches between blues, folk, and Americana, improvises with the best of them, and delivers an extended, intimate performance that should be a blueprint for current touring artists and bands. In recent years I've experienced a decrease in the amount of time that artists and bands are on stage, and and increase in anesthetics and reliance on flashing lights to entertain audiences. Jorma's performance stands in stark contrast with his extended, highly-technical sets (he played for almost 2.5 hours!) and eschewing light and laser shows to keep the focus on the music. His performance is a throw back in the best possible way.
Seamless entry into the venue, found seating almost immediately in the fifth row, with an aisle seat too. Jorma was on stage at 7:30 on the dot and performed 2 fantastic and, thankfully, long sets. He was his characteristically humorous self which I came to fully appreciate in watching Fur Peace Ranch Quarantine concerts during the height of the pandemic. It was my birthday Friday night, and one of my friends, who knows Jorma's tour manager Phil, made it known, not only was it my birthday, but that it was also my first time seeing him live. Jorma dedicated "Hesitation Blues" for my birthday. There's nothing in this world that could ever top that! My feet still aren't touching the ground. Not sure they ever will!
Fantastic 2 amazing musicians. So lucky to have seen DB on his final tour... Cheers!
Small intimate venue - the perfect place for him to end his great career. He announced that night in Charleston that he was hanging it up.
Security did nothing to deal with disruptive member of audience ruining a great perfomance
Love attending events here......great venue with no bad seats in the house. Didn't realize it was their last show as David Bromberg is retiring. Perhaps that added to the extra long excellent show.
Jorma gave us a great show! He is an extremely talented guitar player. I loved the songs he choose. Ponte Vedra Concert Hall is a great place to see a show! The sound was perfect. There is not a bad seat in the house. I would definitely return again… even with the 4 hour drive I took.
Jorma Kaukonen is unassuming and humble and yet...what an amazing guitar player. There were times when I thought you could hear the bass, rhythm and lead guitar all at the same time. If you get the chance - go hear him play and enjoy the moments.
The Jorma Kaukonen & David Bromberg show I caught in Ponte Vedra (FL) was different from what I expected, but still simply amazing. Jorma opened solo and stayed solo. David had a 4-piece band with him. (Jorma just SOUNDED like he had a 4-piece band with him.) As such, all eyes, ears, hearts, and souls (a lot of guitarists' souls in THAT audience, to be sure) -- not to mention tapping feet and nodding heads -- were solely on Jorma as he played with such mastery and ease one could just breathe in the feel and the sounds, my favorite thing to do at a show (and, frankly, rare). David rocked. And he bluesed. And he bluegrassed and gospeled and I don't know what all, but when he went all acoustic and then a cappella -- even stepping away from the microphone -- it was easy to tell, like Jorma, we were in the presence of a master. The two joined together only briefly at the very end, but it was the proverbial icing. I'm fortunate to have been there, to have been a part of it, to have lived in these days with their long runs of musical meaningfulness. Their gifts are the kind that have kept me alive and (relatively) sane for all my days. I thank them both, and wish them many more days and gifts of their own.
