About

JONNY LANG IN CONCERT:

Acclaimed blues singer and axeman Jonny Lang is a true guitar player's guitarist, a legend among fingerpickers around the world for his ferocious playing and virtuosic technique.  From his days as a teenage prodigy performing for Bill Clinton to his stints on tour with legends like B.B. King and Aerosmith, Lang has proven himself to be an electrifying performer, as adept on originals like "Lie to Me" as he is covering class acts like Stevie Wonder and Edgar Winters. Taking the stage with his signature bluesy croon and trusty Fender Telecaster guitar, Lang is set to stun on his upcoming US tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in Fargo, North Dakota, Lang took up the guitar at age 12. By his early teens, he was skilled enough to join his guitar teacher's band, which was renamed Kid Jonny Lang & The Big Bang in his honor. After signing to A&M records at age 16 he released his 1997 solo debut Lie to Me, a critical and commercial success that landed on the Billboard 200 and went multi-platinum. 1998 follow-up Wander this World was a similar success, cracking the US Top 40 and earning him a Grammy nomination. In 2013, he topped the Blues Albums chart with his sixth studio album Fight for My Soul, also reaching No. 2 on the Christian Albums chart. A fiery performer with skill to spare, Lang will continue to deliver big on his upcoming tour dates.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Jonny Lang blew me away the entire show. His guitar playing is remarkable. His voice is so soulful, you can tell he feels every word that he sings."

"What a talent! Just oozes out of him. It was so great to just watch him play. He seems to love it so much. This was an awesome show."

"If you have never seen Jonny Lang you are missing one of the true masters of the Ax. One of the highlights was his rendition of Stevie Wonder's hit 'Living For the City.' Stevie would have been proud."

    The Bands

by San-Ke on 8/12/19The Rose Music Center at The Heights - Huber Heights

As always The Rose was an exceptional venue for a Concert! JJ Grey was good at first then fizzled at the end. Jonny Lang was his usual self, An excellent show he always gives, straight from the Heart.

    Another awesome Johnny Lang concert!

    by J. D. on 7/30/19Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

All three acts were superb. Johnny Lang never fails to amaze me with his talent and stage presence. And to see them in the Church put it over the top.

random thoughts in no particular order

    by N. A. on 7/26/19Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

There must've been a JJ Grey fan club in attendance at the show as, for almost every song of JJ Grey and Mofro, there was LOUD audience accompaniment...very enthusiastic. The band was tight and reminded me of St. Paul and the Broken Bones...definitely a crowd pleaser. The show could've ended after they finished. Several years ago, I experienced Jonny Lang at the Ryman with the most amazing rhythm section - it was tight, uplifting, funky and encouraging (if the blues can be uplifting :-) After JJ Grey, it wasn't that Jonny's band didn't play well together, it just felt like they weren't in sync. I decided to purchase better seats this time (row m of section 4 on main floor-wonderful view), which also provides a better audio experience. The mix for JJ Grey was great/balanced...not so much for Lang...couldn't hear the keyboards most of the time, drum mix seemed unbalanced and almost muffled, the bass player was audible at all times. Lang's set, which seemed abbreviated, was more of a downer after JJ Grey (who I was unfamiliar with). I appreciate Jonny as a musician and his genuine attitude, but whoever chose to match these two bands may have done better to let Jonny open for JJ Grey. Obviously IMO

The Ryman Auditorium is a fantastic place to see a show.

    by j. c. on 7/23/19Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

It was a good night started by the No. Miss. All-Stars, very solid musicians. I had never seen an "Electric" washboard played before. J.J. Grey and Mofro were AMAZING, shame they only played one hour. Jonny Lang and band put on a good show as well. Got my wife the JJ Grey T-Shirt she had been wanting. All in all a way above average night.

    Fantastic Show!!!

by howlinwolf on 7/23/19Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

All great performers - North Mississippi All Stars, JJ Grey and Mofro and of course Jonny Lang. JJ Grey knocked it out of the park! We also were fortunate as to have exceptional balcony seats. One of the best Ryman performances we've ever seen - if not THE best. Truly outstanding show! We left feeling inspired and soulful.

    Satisfactory

by Turbo on 7/23/19Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

JJ Grey was good. Never heard him before tonight. Definitely talented. Enjoyed the majority of his music. This was the 4th time I have seen Jonny Lang. I really like his voice and style. I thought this last show was good, not great, not poor. Wished that he played a little longer.

    A night at the Ryman

    by Natalief647 on 7/22/19Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

We purchased these ticket to see and hear Johnny Lang for the first time. While he did blast onto the stage, he failed to maintain the music. The instrumentals were so long that the music/song got lost in the performance of his without a doubt; out of this world guitar skills. Johnny, play the music, lengthen a bit the instrumentals as you will, but play the music we love. We also want to hear the instrumentals of you tearing up the guitar as only you can do, but don't lose your songs/music to it. Seeing the wide range of people at the concert spoke volumes to your talent. Babies to folks in their 70's were in attendance and rocking out all together. To be able to reach such a diverse crowd speaks to your great talent. Please accept this as a positive review - love you, love the music. We had not heard of JJ Grey and were pleasantly surprised by this musicians talent and music. He puts everything he is into the music and we are looking forward to listening to more. Great evening at the Ryman.

    Good Music-Good Time

by tncam on 7/22/19Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

Arrived early and hung out at Cafe Lula until doors opened. Hit the gift shop then headed up to our balcony seats. When the attendant took us to our seats which were front row balcony seats, he said “It doesn’t get much better than this!” I totally agree. It was perfect seats for this venue. Loved JJ Grey and Mofro and that’s why we came, but The North Mississippi Allstars didn’t disappoint. Can’t say that I liked Jonny Lang that night and left before he finished, but all in all, it was a great time!

    Jonny Lang

by RC on 7/22/19Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

In Nashville Tennessee, a city rich with musical history, culture and education I never expect to see a concert with bad sound mixing occur. Yet that was exactly the case at the Jonny Lang concert this past Friday night at the Ryman The sound was very muddy, The vocals in discernible and combined with his over played guitar performance it made for an insufferable sound experience. I know it was not just house acoustics because the previous performer, JJ Grey was crystalclear and absolutely enchanting. Apparently I was not the only person that thought there was a problem, As I watched at least 50 people get up and leave before I did.

    Jonny Lang does NOT disappoint!

    by twin1 on 7/22/19Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

Wow! And again I say, WOW! Jonny was incredible. Worth every cent. What an amazing talent he is. He can play the guitar like no other. And his voice! Exquisite, raw, earthy, angst. Many emotions come through in his voice. Run, don't walk, if you get the chance to see this man. PHENOMENAL!! JJ Grey and Mofro were very good as well.

    Great show

    by Steve615 on 7/22/19Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

I purchased a ticket along with the VIP meet & greet package when tickets for this event went on sale. It turned out to be on my birthday. So, I was not about to miss out on this show. The meet & greet with Jonny and JJ was fantastic! Both of them were very friendly, relaxed and cool to talk to. Besides the signed poster that was a part of the VIP package, both of them signed another poster and a very nice Fender acoustic guitar for me. The North Mississippi All Stars began the event with their opening set for the show. They put on a great show and had the crowd going pretty good by the time they left the stage. Then, JJ hit the stage and pretty much blew the crowd away with his set. He was very into the show and the crowd that night. I wound up scoring a stage used pick from him. Then, Jonny came out to end the night with his set. Like JJ, he was very energetic and into the show and the crowd too. I tried to get his attention to ask for his pick. But, that didn't happen as it was very loud during pretty much the entire show, from beginning to end. When all is said and done...if you have an opportunity to see this show, do not let it pass you by!
