About

JONNY LANG IN CONCERT:

Acclaimed blues singer and axeman Jonny Lang is a true guitar player's guitarist, a legend among fingerpickers around the world for his ferocious playing and virtuosic technique.  From his days as a teenage prodigy performing for Bill Clinton to his stints on tour with legends like B.B. King and Aerosmith, Lang has proven himself to be an electrifying performer, as adept on originals like "Lie to Me" as he is covering class acts like Stevie Wonder and Edgar Winters. Taking the stage with his signature bluesy croon and trusty Fender Telecaster guitar, Lang is set to stun on his upcoming US tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in Fargo, North Dakota, Lang took up the guitar at age 12. By his early teens, he was skilled enough to join his guitar teacher's band, which was renamed Kid Jonny Lang & The Big Bang in his honor. After signing to A&M records at age 16 he released his 1997 solo debut Lie to Me, a critical and commercial success that landed on the Billboard 200 and went multi-platinum. 1998 follow-up Wander this World was a similar success, cracking the US Top 40 and earning him a Grammy nomination. In 2013, he topped the Blues Albums chart with his sixth studio album Fight for My Soul, also reaching No. 2 on the Christian Albums chart. A fiery performer with skill to spare, Lang will continue to deliver big on his upcoming tour dates.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Jonny Lang blew me away the entire show. His guitar playing is remarkable. His voice is so soulful, you can tell he feels every word that he sings."

"What a talent! Just oozes out of him. It was so great to just watch him play. He seems to love it so much. This was an awesome show."

"If you have never seen Jonny Lang you are missing one of the true masters of the Ax. One of the highlights was his rendition of Stevie Wonder's hit 'Living For the City.' Stevie would have been proud."

    Great (but short) Show

by Paugus on 2/18/20MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa - South Lake Tahoe

The venue is great....but staff not that great. Jonny played a really good show but, other than BB King, it was the shortest show I've seen in years. Really enjoyed the playlist of Jonny classics but would have enjoyed it more if it had been a bit longer. Overall, fun night!

    Mont Blue SLT

Jonny always plays with his heart and soul. Total show length was just over 1 hour, which was my only disappointment.

    Johnny Lang

by Jen on 2/17/20Chandler Center for the Arts - Chandler

Incredible performance by both but just as everyone finally was getting seated, after only 4or5 songs from the Opener, there was a 15 minute intermission. It seemed ridiculous. Otherwise loved it!

    Great but way too short

by A. on 2/17/20Chandler Center for the Arts - Chandler

Great performance but he only played for 70 minutes. Posted time in the lobby said it should have been 95.

Great Sound but wasnt crazy about performance

by L. on 2/17/20Chandler Center for the Arts - Chandler

His live sound is exactly as is on CD which is great but- he would not look at the audience and only played one of his more popular songs. The opening act was good.

    Unrecognizable Musical Performance

by Fred3 on 2/17/20Chandler Center for the Arts - Chandler

I am a major fan of EARLY Jonny Lang ... bluesy, Grammy-winning arrangements. This was NONE of that. Harsh, shrill distortion, feedback ... NO melody... totally unrecognizable performance. This very talented band has morphed into some strange, fusion, “jazz?” improv experiment. Really disappointing.

    Great Guitar and Passion but...

by J. on 2/17/20Chandler Center for the Arts - Chandler

I love Jonny Lang, great energy on stage, great guitarist, great band. But I felt the show was short, and having seen Jonny several times, I felt his set list is too the same. Not enough of his new stuff, if he added a few more of his new songs to the set he played it would have been better.

    A little disappointing

    by N. D. on 11/14/19Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

We LOVE J.J. Grey and Mofro and will probably go see them anytime they play close to where we live. I realize J.J. has recently released a CD with music a little more somber than what he would normally play (in our experience). I guess the problem is that we fell in love with them as kind of a "party" band with rocky-bluesy music and that's what we like best about this group. But we won't stop following their tours and going to see them again. As for Jonny Lang, I'm very respectful of his long career in music. His blues performance was very passionate and dramatic. I think that by the time he came onstage, we had seen J.J. Grey and were just tired and didn't have adequate enthusiasm for Jonny's talents!

Soul with serving of MORE Soul

by C. B. on 8/13/19The Rose Music Center at The Heights - Huber Heights

This show was amazing. Marc Broussard opened and was Rock Steady from opening to the close of his set. JJ Grey and Moro laid down a challenge for the evening and the set they delivered was spiritual and soul moving. Johnny Lang gave a solid performance that rocked the evening to a perfect end...
