About

With his ever-youthful voice, it’s hard to believe that legendary singer Johnny Mathis has been wowing audiences for over half a century—and he’s still going strong. That unmistakable voice—both fragile and powerful—singing timeless classics like “Chances Are,” “Misty,” “Brazil,” “It’s Not For Me to Say” “A Certain Smile” “My Funny Valentine” and “Twelfth of Never” never ceases to mesmerize listeners into a wistful trance. Anyone who has been lucky enough to get tickets to witness Johnny Mathis perform LIVE knows that he was born to be on stage with a microphone in hand, an orchestra at his back, and a rapt crowd before him. Be it a love ballad, swing tune, or a Latin-flavored number, Johnny executes each phrase with that characteristic panache possessed by crooners of a by-gone era when singers didn’t have (nor need!) the help of viral YouTube videos to capture the hearts of fans worldwide. Needless to say, serious fans of nostalgic music (also sung by the likes of Michael Bublé, Harry Connick Jr. and Tony Bennett) who score Johnny Mathis tickets are always in for a “Wonderful! Wonderful!” time.

    Johnny Mathis was enchanting!

by SteinwayLover on 8/10/09Lowell Memorial Auditorium - Lowell

Mathis' voice was as rich and beautiful as ever!!! I took a friend to see him as a present and received a wonderful gift myself in the bargain...an evening that I will never forget. His orchestra and the musicians he travels with were so much in synch, it was a joy to watch and hear them as they interacted with the orchestra that played that night. The music ebbed and flowed seamlessly. I also enjoyed the comedian he had in the show. All in all the evening was a delight!

We all went back to a simplier time. Johnny's voice is as pristine as ever. He sang all his great hits.

    Mathis was great!

by BoobyBoo on 8/9/09Lowell Memorial Auditorium - Lowell

Johnny was singing his songss effortlessly and with much tenderness. He didn't sing all of his hits, unfortunately, and some of the ones he did were shortened significantly. He was polite to calls from the audience - "I love you. Johnny!", etc., but, he evidentally is not much for spontaneous conversation, as his didn't say much. He tends to business - singing and is not much of a conversationalist - which is fine by me.

    Johnny Mathis was FABULOUS!

by SilverandSpice on 8/9/09Lowell Memorial Auditorium - Lowell

I went to see Johnny Mathis with my mother and sisters. We all had such a great time. He was fantastic!! We had great seats and enjoyed every song he did. We had heard that there was a comedian opening up for him, but this was not exactly the case. Johnny came out first, sang for 30 minutes or so, then introduced his good friend and comedian who performed for about 30 minutes or so. I wish I could remember his last name. He was Gary Mule...hoffer? What a riot!! After Garys performance and a brief intermission, Johnny came back out for another 45 minutes or so. He was amazing....he looks and sounds exactly the same as the younger crooner I remember.

    Johnny's still got That Voice

by Susan01760 on 8/9/09Lowell Memorial Auditorium - Lowell

Johnny's still got the voice that takes you back to slow dances in high school with your head on the shoulder of your first forever love. Soothing, romantic, and, sexy. He's got the voice that sounds like velvet and chocolate and warmth all mixed together. Johnny starts with some of the most romantic songs ever sung, then a comedian named Gary Mule Deer, who is absolutely hilarious, does a bit. Then, it's intermission, after which Johnny comes back out and does some of his more upbeat show songs (Brazil!) It's the kind of evening that will leaves you feeling happy and romantic and warm, all over.

    Johnny Mathis is timeless!

by serdon on 8/8/09Lowell Memorial Auditorium - Lowell

Another unbelievable show! He is simply the best at being down to earth and sharing his gift of song. What a voice! Only complaint was that it was very warm with no air conditioning but he was worth the sacrifice of a little comfort!

    JOHNNY MATHIS IN CONCERT-IT'S WONDERFUL,WONDERFUL"

by DANCE1 on 8/8/09Lowell Memorial Auditorium - Lowell

THE JOHNNY MATHIS CONCERT WAS THE BEST! I COULDN'T BELIEVE THAT HIS VOICE HASN'T CHANGED IN THE 50 PLUS YEARS HE HAS BEEN PERFORMING. AS AN AUDIENCE MEMBER SHOUTED,"YOU HAVEN'T LOST IT JOHNNY!" JOHNNY SANG HIT AFTER HIT...A SURE CROWD PLEASER. THE COMIC WHO PERFORMED BETWEEN THE SETS BROUGHT THE HOUSE DOWN WITH HIS REPERTOIRE OF JOKES AND SONGS. A WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL EVENING THAT I WAS SORRY TO SEE OVER.

Johnny Mathis still has it & then some!

by Tennismom on 8/8/09Lowell Memorial Auditorium - Lowell

Johnny Mathis still has his distinct sound, perfect annunciation, & honey-carmel vocals!!! The audience was singing along with him to most of his favorite tunes & everybody in the audience was transformed back a few decades in time; remembering his romantic love songs; each one better than the previous. He sings the lyrics with such feeling, passion, & belief; that audience members may be a bit envious when they realize that they may never have a relationship half as wonderful as he seems to have had experienced in his lifetime...given all of the heart & emotion he seems to infuse into every word he sings.

    Mathis...smooth, mellow, beautiful

by sandyktoo on 8/8/09Lowell Memorial Auditorium - Lowell

Johnny Mathis has not lost his touch. The music was a wonderful collection of all of his famous songs. Even his midshow comedian was terrific. I could have sat and listened to him all over again. He was relaxed and handsome and almost humble in his performance.

    Johhny still has it...

by LeAannFan on 8/8/09Lowell Memorial Auditorium - Lowell

Johhny Mathis at 72 still has the beautiful range of voice. Only dissapointment was the song selection. Wish he had done more of the favorite classics he is known for. The commediate at the intermission was a highlight of the show.

Mathis voice sounds as great as ever.

by McNoel on 8/8/09Lowell Memorial Auditorium - Lowell

Ticket money to see Johnny Mathis is well spent. His voice is beautiful and a nice reminder of how great music used to be. Fans that go to see Mathis are well behaved and at times you can hear a pin drop as they are listening to his perfect delivery of his great old hits. Johnny Mathis sounds like his records..only BETTER.

Johnny Mathis-as Wonderful, Wonderful as ever

by PatSilva on 8/8/09Lowell Memorial Auditorium - Lowell

Mr. Mathis has been my favorite singer since high school (over 50 years ago) This is the first time I've seen him in person and it exceeded all my expectations. My husband took me for our 47th anniversary. The show was just wonderful, I can't say enough about it. His voice is amazing. PLEASE- if the opportunity arises, consider having him back. I had brought some of my old vinyl albums (I still have all of them) and was hoping to have one autographed, but the opportunity did not arise, and I certainly did not want to disturb him after such a wonderful performance. I do not attend concerts (the only other one I've been to was the Beach Boys) but I would go again and again to see Mr. Mathis. Thank you to all involved for a wonderful evening.

    Beyond expectations

by Johnny1968 on 8/8/09Lowell Memorial Auditorium - Lowell

I am 41 years old and I grew up listening to Johnny Mathis records. My mother would load a stack on the turntable and listen to him all day long. Christmas was not Christmas unless we had Johnny's "Merry Christmas" album playing, an album that was released in 1958, 10 years before I was born. I bought tickets and I took my mother to see him for her birthday when I heard Johnny was in Lowell. Imagine my surprise when Johnny walked out on stage, said a few introductory comments, and launched into songs I remembered growing up. I even remembered the lyrics. He looked impeccable and, when closed my eyes, I felt as if I was listening to his albums in my house growing up. His voice was flawless. I distinctly remember muttering "wow" to myself as I sat in amazement. The man is a talent and seemed to only get better over the years. He sang for 2 45-minute sets and I have never sat in a concert that felt as if it ended as soon as it started. He sang effortlessly and I was disappointed to watch him walk of stage. My mother was thrilled to see him once again and the two of us had a wonderful night together. Thank you, Johnny for a great evening and what is sure to be a very treasured memory.
