Great show! Brilliant and funny. Mulaney makes you think differently about generations and family.
Great show and experience. He truly is a great. Definitely recommend seeing.
I must say I was a little disappointed with the Norfolk show, although he came out strong (although sound quality was poor). The disappointment was mostly because he spent an inordinate amount of time talking to a mother and daughter in row 1, which of course we only could hear one side of the conversation. It occurred to me after a few minutes that perhaps he lost his material and was stalling / trying to get it back. Getting back on track with the convo over, there was some material that I felt he spent too long on (plus it just didn't resonate with me...which is fine / can't expect to all to land....although Kid Gorgeous did!). Discussing it with my date, I wondered if Johnny was just trying stuff out...prepping for a new tour. Anyway, still love him, rooting for him and looking forward to a strong rebound. Hope we are still best buds. 3.75 Stars. Thanks
This is the third time we’ve seen JM and this was by far his best. New material, so many laughs you can miss the next line! Throughly enjoyed the show
John did not disappoint. I am 75 years old and I found his take on his “ elderly” parents hysterically true!
I had purchased tickets to take my daughter because she is a very big fan of John Mulaney. I have watched him with her on YouTube videos, but to see him in person was something else I truly enjoyed it. The audience was great. The opening act was great. We had a wonderful time. I love the fact that he was interacting with his audience. I kind of felt bad because there were some empty seats, but being I’m short, it was actually beneficial to me. I could see the stage. His timing was perfect. His movement was great. There was no lull, where you were like OK well what comes next he kept it pretty much up to beat. I feel it was definitely well worth the money that I invested in The tickets I would do it again!
He was so funny the show was awesome and the venue was easy to navigate.
No issues about the event space but John Mulaney was a super big disappointment. What I would have expected from a local comic at a suburban comedy night. I get he needs to try out new material but I think he's forgotten what it feels like for regular people to pay what for us is a lot of money to hear him. Maybe I needed to be reminded that a live set isn't a tightly produced Netflix special.
Not a great Venue Seating is Flat and chairs are not staggered between rows so the view of the stage is obstructed by the Heads of the people in front of you. Pretty much watched the jumbo screen which I could have done at home. John put on a great Show though.
Somehow he hits every topic just right - I was laughing until I cried through the entire bit! He's spectacular in my book, and I'm so glad I finally experienced him live on stage. And will look forward to future tours!
Excellent show! The first half was so funny there were times when we had trouble catching our breath. The second half was also funny but not to the same extent.
Was center on the 8th row, and it felt like he was talking directly to me! It blew my mind!
John Mulhany is the best. It was the first time I’ve ever laughed so hard that I cried. The only negative part had nothing to do with him. I didn’t realize the mezzanine at the venue was up so high. He was further away than I thought he’d be, and I found myself looking at the monitors a lot which isn’t so different from watching Netflix special! Next time I’d book tickets down below.
John Mulaney hasn’t skipped a beat. I saw him at Foxwoods in August 2024, which was my fifth time seeing him live on stage. His material constantly changes and he delivers it with the timing and enthusiasm of a true professional. He's a skilled story teller, weaving in and out of the narrative without getting lost, all the while painting a picture that the audience can visualize and relate to. Bottom line is that I highly recommend seeing John Mulaney whenever you can as it’s destined to be a night of humor that you’ll think about well after the show and still laugh out loud at what he said.
John’s material seemed very new and not quite polished. I did not expect such dark material. I also did not know about the yonder bags and that was an inconvenience as I was expecting an email that I needed to respond to and was not able to do so.
I get how tough stand up must be. But his material was awful. Not one laugh. Came from out of state, paid for hotel, etc. And very disappointed. I am a real fan of his but this was terrible.
I wasn't expecting a live performance to be as polished and cohesive as an edited and produced TV special. I was prepared for some messy transitions, jokes that didn't quite land, and a degree of general human error. What I witnessed was either a public relapse or a huge, lumbering stumble towards has-been status. Mullaney appeared as he may well be, a middle aged addict trapped in a Sisyphean nightmare of work, therapy, and early parenthood, desperately trying to grasp at relevance with less success than a subway busker. His jokes were sloppy, rambling, occasionally unfinished and consistent only in laziness. The act as a whole had no coherent theme or cumulative effect. I've seen better delivery at high school talent shows. And the material itself was, for the most part, on the wrong side of irreverent. I nodded off at one point. I considered leaving several times, but I held out hope that he would pull some sort of value out of the performance with a call back at the end (as has been his style in the past). I shouldn't have bothered.
John Mulaney may be the most talented comedian in the history of comedy. He’s clever, has a flawless delivery, and tells relatable stories.
I love John Mulaney's comedic style and thoroughly enjoyed the performance, which was at Premier Theater at Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut on 8/17/24. The event was well organized, the theater was clean and comfortable, and his material was mostly fresh. I just wish people who showed up late would have been made to sit in the back where their presence entering would not disrupt those around them or the performer. Lots of people arrived after the start of the performance and the constant bobbing up and down of black silhouettes was intrusive (and I was only in the tenth row). Standards for professional courtesy and good manners haven't changed over time. Neither should our intolerance of them when they are lacking.
It took a while to get into the theater due to long lines but he was worth the wait. He was excellent! Really enjoyed the show.
