Excellent show as expected. He retold the story he performed on SNL about his intervention but obviously an expanded version. I wish he would have talked more about his new baby and life as a father, etc. But the rehab material is funny and he is a hilarious story teller.

  • Would definitely go again

by Casey on 11/18/22UBS Arena - Belmont Park - Long IslandRating: 5 out of 5

John Mulaney is fantastic story teller and comedian. He had fantastic audience interaction throughout the show making it more personal. No comedy show is going to be exactly the same but I had a fantastic time. The arena was also great and very easy to get to I would highly recommend.

John kept the audience wildly entertained and roaring with laughter. We only caught the last opener, Dan Levy, but he was hilarious as well. Great tour!

  • Mulaney Kills Again!

by Weezer on 11/15/22MJ Nesheiwat Convention Center - PoughkeepsieRating: 4 out of 5

The staff, the facilities, and security - everything the convention center can control - ran smoothly. The show itself was absolutely marvelous. John Mulaney brought his 'A' game and had us eating out of his hand. However - close to 20% of the sold-out audience was over an hour late to arrive, delaying the show and then, when the show finally started, disturbing our enjoyment of it by their continuing to file in, in the dark, for another half an hour! That is the only reason I couldn't give a rating of the full five stars. I wonder if the problem was caused by a lack of parking...

Great show ! I like the venue but it’s somewhat difficult to get to.

  • The Poughkeepsie Civic center was a Nightmare

by Puppy tones on 11/14/22MJ Nesheiwat Convention Center - PoughkeepsieRating: 1 out of 5

The Poughkeepsie civic center ruined the evening for everyone. The place had no AC so the sweatbox was over heated. Then the seating was ridiculous, they kept seating people an hour into the show . It got so v as d John Mulaney stopped the show to find out what happened . I will never see a show at the civic center again I would like a refund for this nightmare

  • MAKE SURE YOU GET THERE EARLY!!!

    by C. M. on 11/14/22MJ Nesheiwat Convention Center - PoughkeepsieRating: 1 out of 5

I'm not sure if this isn't more of a review of this venue, but this show was disappointing. Since John Mulaney prefers a "Phone free" show, the line to get in the venue was crazy between locking up everyone's phones, and searching everyone. The venue just wasn't up to the task. We got there at 6:30pm for a 7pm show start and didn't actually get into the building until 8pm. Many were behind us. Unfortunately John Mulaney wasn't aware of this and started on time, so we missed the entire opening act and 10 minutes of John Mulaney. It was distracting having people continue to enter during the show. There were no police to direct traffic. It was a mess and I will never go to a show at this venue again no matter who is playing.

  • Venue was horrible. Show was disrupted by people being late

by TFK on 11/14/22MJ Nesheiwat Convention Center - PoughkeepsieRating: 2 out of 5

Venue is not a true theatre, its uncomfortable and there is no tiered seating. Air conditioning was poor as it was warm for performer and crowd just as was for the Manasculco show a couple of weeks ago. Poughkeepsie needs events but the venue has to improve. Show was ok. He spent way too much time on his therapy and recovery although very funny at times. His insistence on taking phones was a disaster and ruined the evening. People were still coming in with only 20 minutes left in show. I missed a lot of the show with people standing in the aisle during the late seating of customers.

  • Overlapping Events Meant Waitiing in a Line for Over an Hour

by MAM on 11/14/22Kodak Center - RochesterRating: 1 out of 5

Kodak Center did a poor job with the overlapping shows. It you are going to have two shows back to back then there needs to be a longer spacing of time between two events. We had to wait in line for almost an hour. I was not prepared to have to wait outside in the cold for that long of a time. This also meant that the event was not over until midnight, which is too late.

  • Great, but with problems

by Ross on 11/14/22MJ Nesheiwat Convention Center - PoughkeepsieRating: 4 out of 5

John Mulaney was amazing. But unfortunately we missed the first 10-15 minutes of his set and the entire opening act because the line to get into the venue stretched around the block and we were on it for nearly 50 minutes. i assumed they were delaying the start of the show til everyone was inside. i was wrong. the delay was caused by 1) everyone had to put their phones into special pouches to prevent filming and 2) security patted us down like we were entering the Pentagon. SO i'm not sure if the venue is to blame for not handling the entrance more efficiently or if Mulaney's people are to blame for being ignorant of the situation and neglecting fans. Whatever the case, it sucks to spend that much money and not get the whole show we payed for.

  • Really Awesome!!

My sides hurt from laughing. John turned his drug addiction and recovery into a laughfest. Loved it!!

  • Great show!

by Katherine on 11/14/22UBS Arena - Belmont Park - Long IslandRating: 5 out of 5

I laughed really hard and thought it was really heartfelt and honest. It was probably a tough show to write but because he held nothing back it was really great! I think everyone there is rooting for John’s sobriety and so happy to see him back on stage! Onward and upward!!

Securing our phones was a little time consuming. Luckily the monsoon rain held off until we got inside. Still can't get over the $50 Parking price.

  • Johnny slayed

Baby J slayed the house down! So proud of him. I’m so glad I got to experience him in the flesh.

  • Laugh Filled Evening

by robineggs on 11/13/22MJ Nesheiwat Convention Center - PoughkeepsieRating: 5 out of 5

John Mulaney was great! Fact is always funnier than fiction as John discussed his intervention and rehab with us, the audience. Much luck to him in the future and with the rest of: From Scratch tour.

  • Mulaney shares his soul

by Eric on 11/13/22MJ Nesheiwat Convention Center - PoughkeepsieRating: 4 out of 5

This is a different John Mulaney, His 90-day rehab has not only changed the man, but made him a remarkable introspective comedian. Sometimes a therapist engaging with an audience member, other times sharing the story of his intervention, and still others reverting to the hilarious stories we know him for, Mulaney has inhabited the soul of Robin Williams. He's more manic, more self-aware, more connected with his failures and partial successes in overcoming them. I laughed of course, often way out loud. But I also felt pain and sorrow for his life. His remarkable ability to shift bewteen the two made for an emotional 75 minutes. The only reason for not giving the show five stars was the Mid-Hudson Civic Center (or whatever its name is now) and its phone lock-up mess. I fully understand why Mulaney or any comedian doesn't want his show videotaped or photographed, but this bag and lock security system for our phones needs a lot of improvement. People were still pouring in well after the show begin a good half-hour late (Dan Levy-no not that Dan Levy- was a terrific opener) due to the lines outside checking their phones and Smart watches. My wife and I arrived early, which was an experience in itself, forcing you either squirm in the tight floor seats (very warm too), or actually speak with people around you! And please don't say come early. There has to be a better way to secure the performers' material. Needs re-thinking. As for John, we love you and hope to laugh and cry with you for many years to come!

  • Hard to get in

by Kchill on 11/13/22MJ Nesheiwat Convention Center - PoughkeepsieRating: 3 out of 5

The show was great but we missed the opening act and the first half hour of John Mulaney because it took forever to get through the doors. We waited about an hour and a half to get in and to our seats. It was very frustrating but luckily everyone in line acted like adults and there were no other issues.
