    Boring

by William on 10/31/23Beacon Theatre - New York

Wonderful musicians, most boring show I have ever seen. One joke that played out in 5 min and a pompous assumption that if you tell inside jokes about classic music that you are somehow ingenious. No structure, no direction and poorly acted.....great for a group of little kids.

    Amazing

by Irina on 10/31/23Beacon Theatre - New York

It was unexpected delight for my ears and mind. Amazing approach to discussions of the music critics creates wonderful play-concert.

Beacon theatre’s organization was a disaster

by NYCitizen on 10/31/23Beacon Theatre - New York

The play was funny and very entertaining. The music was fantastic. The problem was that the Beacon Theatre could not handle an organized way to welcome the audience. It took more than 30 minutes to go through security. The theatre did not have the decency to delay the start of the play till everybody was seated.

If you are a fan of John Malkovich, this show would have you in stitches. Fantastic fun, which no one else could pull off like he does.

Fabulous fun with stunningly beautiful music

by Jori Cuery on 10/30/23The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

What a wonderful experience! There were so many unexpected belly, laughs, sandwiched in between the most beautiful music. Bravo, such a delightfully funny, and beautiful experience to the stage. Gave me insight into what performers have to deal with while presenting their craft to the world.

    Tedious

by KimK on 10/30/23The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

Really quite horrible......no development of any type. The same - over and over and over....Don't waste your time (and did I say it was LONG!). And no intermission to escape.

    Classic Malkovich doesn’t disappoint

by Classy Claire on 10/30/23The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

This performance was very enjoyable. Witnessing Malkovich’s biting sardonic wit in person was a treat. The music was, of course, lovely and made all the more enjoyable by the scathing tongue in cheek review that was sure to follow. The only thing that disappointed was the lack of mention of Beethoven’s Für Elise. I was hoping to hear it declared a banal piece that had been over commercialized to the point of becoming trite. It would have made my night to hear Malkovich tear apart this piece in his distinctive cadence. Nonetheless, the music and the laughs this performance elicited were well worth the trip. Well done everyone!

    Love John Malkovich!

by JM fan on 10/29/23The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

JM was a music critic. Good chamber music but would have preferred more of Malkovich. Would have rather seen him starring in a theatrical production, but this was the best we could do

    Amazing! However...

by JG_Chicago on 10/29/23The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

You should leave the kids at home along with anyone who is does not enjoy classical music and/or did not do well in the vocabulary section of the SATs. The humor is mostly dry so, paying attention is required. Consider yourself warned. P.S. I did not get to yell this out during the show...John Malkovich, we love you!!!

    Great! and different, thank God

by Malk Fan on 10/29/23The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

I realize that this show isn't new, but it's new to me. The classical music was divine and Malkovich was a hoot! He never ceases to amaze. We were in the balcony and there was a bright light iluminating the backs of the heads of the people in front of us. Distracting.

by Naz on 10/29/23The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

It was surprisingly mediocre, such a waste of his talent and my time.

A fun evening with John Malkovich

by Bobby C. on 10/29/23The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

I love the Chicago theater! It may be the best venue in the city. Andrew Smith, the director of security does a great job keeping us safe! Mr. Malkovich was in top form and the musicians were amazing. It was definitely time well spent as I had a wonderful time.

    Lousy Malkovich performance

by Lousy performance by Malkovich on 10/29/23The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

The music and the musicians were outstanding, but John Malkovich manage to bring the whole performance to a new low for us with Ticketmaster. I would never recommend this performance to anyone

    The Music Critic Exceeded Expectations

by Theresa H on 10/29/23The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

I love seeing events at The Chicago Theatre! I'm a huge fan of John Malkovich and enjoy his work ever since the Steppenwolf days. The musicians were fantastic and the interaction with The Music Critic was entertaining.

    A masterpiece

by Chris on 10/29/23The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

What an exhilarating performance. The musicians were brilliant. The reviews were read with the Malkovich flare for deadpan wit. Entertaining for the entire performance.

    Great show

by Paul Avondale on 10/29/23The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

Though I am tempted to leave a review that totally trashes this show (because I think that would be a tribute) I fear some may miss the irony so, suffice it to say that we thoroughly enjoyed the performance. It lifted our spirits and happily turned out to be even more than we bargained for. It was a delightful evening.
