Enjoyed the outdoor venue with friends! Show was great too!
This was an absolutely amazing show. The Seanger Theatre is an awesome venue, really beautiful! No complaints what-so-ever. Wish he could have played Lipstick Sunset, but I guess he can't play every song he's ever written.
Another great night of great music and watching a performer who loves doing what he does!!
John Hiatt and his rock n roll band rocked the new Jannus Live! Got a real good sample from the new release interspersed with revised renditions of some of the old standby's.... Spent the entire show on my feet ....don't miss this edition of John Hiatt....it can't be beat!!
John Hiatt is a fine wine. He is everything you hope that he will be if not more. His writing skills are obviously a gifted talent with a boat load of experience on top, his selection of artist with whom he plays could not be better, and his singing quality was simply over the top. His stage presence was that which is found only in those with the savvy bestowed by his long consistent career; he owned it. Days later we are look for tickets where it would be possible to see him again. See him if you can. Artist extraordinaire befits Mr. Hiatt
John made you feel welcomed and a part of the music
Great show, John is on the top of his game. The band is tight and all looked to be enjoying the show. Set list is Excellent, with some off the new CD and the old standards as well.
A great artist, an incredible lead guitarist with him, but one of the most sedate concerts I have ever been to. They played music for 2 hours, but the volume was too low, and the lights were never touched. No light show at all. I was at a chuch concert in the same building for Easter, and it was alot more exciting. To be fair, there was not much of a crowd, maybe only 500 people total.
John Hiatt and the Combo Band were absolutely FANTASTIC in the hot, humid Florida night. His new CD "OPEN ROAD" is great! I will always be in the audience if he's playing any place I am. He is a DO NOT MISS performer!
Great concert. Full of energy and great songs!! Would go again in a heartbeat.
Excellent show........one of the best singer/songwriters in America today! A real original!
I have been a John Hiatt fan for years and own many recordings of his music. I have seen him once before - several years ago - and was entirely impressed with Thursday night's performance. The Pensacola Saengar Theatre was shamefully NOT filled. The seats in the auditorium were only approximately 1/3 occupied, showing evidence of Pensacola's lack of knowledge and taste in good music and good song-writing. The lack of numbers in the audience did not deter Mr. Hiatt and his band from giving us 100% in performing, great attitude, and humor. It was a very memorable experience for me and for the fine crowd that showed.
John Hiatt and the Combo performed at the Saenger Theatre in downtown Pensacola, FL on Thursday night April 29, 2010. He and "The Combo" were spot on. They performed lots of great songs from John's extensive catalog and some new ones from the recently released CD "The Open Road". He also entertained the crowd with stories and musings in between songs, plus he and the band were gracious enough to come out in the lobby after the show for pictures and autographs. The only complaint I have is with the PA/sound system used in the venue. I don't know if it was a house system, a rental or if it belonged to the band. For one it wasn't loud enough. Not that I wanted to be blown away, I just wish it had been louder to drown out the drunk chicks that were screaming in ecstasy and trying to sing along with Mr. Hiatt. It also seemed like the system was inadequate for the size of the room too. The clarity left something to be desired. John Hiatt is a singer/songwriter/performer that has something to offer up for just about anyone in the audience. Truly a master at his craft and I feel lucky to have seen him in concert!
The Saenger Theater is a great place to see an event, except for the poor local advertising in the local media. People didn't know about the concert unless they get an email from ticketmaster. The place should have been sold out for weeks, but it wasn't even full. I was embarrassed for John Hiatt. He put on a great show for those of us there.
Even though the show wasn't sold out, you woudn't know it! Everyone Loved the show!!!!
John Hiatt is a great entertainer and a gifted songwriter. His performace with the Combo in Pensacola was awesome - he just keeps getting it right everytime!
Hiatt has written many great songs over the years, and he selects from them well. Hs voice is strong -- in fact, he clowned a couple of times about how long he can hold a note. He interacted well and comfortably with the audience -- enough, but not too much. The Combo consists of three superb musicians. Not a lot of showmanship, just good songs, well played and sung.
This was only my 7 th time to see him, and quite possibly the BEST! The work that he put in to the show along with a GREAT band, the COMBO was incredible. I must admit the crowd was sparse, but he played and performed like there were 10,000 fans in the seats. He played songs from the new album "Open Road" and many selections from his tried and true list. If anyone gets the chance to see this tour you will not be disappointed!!
John Hiatt was great, sounded just like his cd's, I was hoping he would of played some more of his older songs, however his newer stuff is good too! *The Plaza is a great palce to see a band, not a bad seat in the place!
I was shocked and dismayed that this show was not sold out . A two thousand seat theater was one third full and John and his band rocked for almost two hours and played a two song encore . Incredible .
