    GO SEE JOHN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by vivazappa on 3/16/10Birchmere - Alexandria

John Hiatt is always great live. If you havn't seen him live go! On this tour he is picking out at least one song from his many records. He hit the new record heavy, as he always does, and he played five tunes from Slow Turning. An excellent record to start with if you have none. His band The Combo keeps it in a slow to medium blusey groove all night. They rock it out when they need to. For you Zappa freaks his bass player is Patrick O'Hearn from Zappa late 70's period. His bass solo on The Tiki Bar is Open was one of the surprize highlights of the show. Plus the whole band came out after the show and met with the crowd signing stuff and conversing with everyone. But then I saw him at the Birchmere outside D.C. and they, the artists, like the place so much they uusally come out after shows.

John Hiatt with The Combo provided a non-stop, amazing evening, which had the audience on its feet clapping and cheering throughout the performance.

John Hiatt is the Real Thing!

    by Fairfax09 on 3/16/10Birchmere - Alexandria

What's so great about seeing John Hiatt, other than the fact that he's an amazing talent, is that his performances are always so sincere. He sings and plays every song like he really means it, really loves it. For someone who's been performing for so long he keeps it feeling exciting and fun each time. I'm convinced it's because he loves what he's doing even after all these years. John Hiatt is a real treasure!
