Love John Hiatt and the Goners. Sounded great as always. And Sonny Landreth is an unbelievable guitarist. The Carolina Theater is a superb venue!
The show was great with a good selection of the songs that I wanted to hear, although time constraints force someone like John with such a huge catalog of work to pick and choose more than one would like. The Goners were great as always. It was a fantastic bonus to see and hear Sonny Landreth do "Congo Square". One note in regard to the venue, where I have seen many shows over the years. My seat had a very obstructed view although it was not sold as such, and that's really not good. From ORCHR, row C, seat 6, I could not see the bass player *at all*. Literally. Only when the band stepped to the center of the stage to take their bows could I see that there had been a fourth musician on stage the whole time. I will be much more careful about buying seats at the Carolina Theatre in the future.
I've probably seen John Hiatt 10 or 15 times and this show was one of the best ever. The Goners are all excellent musicians and of course, the Hiatt canon seems to have an infinite number of great songs. The acoustics in the Carolina Theater are excellent Keep up the great work, John. We love you.
John Hiatt has given me much joy over my lifetime and his Chattanooga show was no exception. Having Sonny Landreth as part of the band made the evening exponentially better. I could wish the sound had been better balanced as it was hard to hear John clearly over all the reverb (at least where I was sitting in the back balcony) and I’m not sure why the opening act was chosen ( Matthew someone) because his music has no similarity to what we came for, but what we came for was great!
Only show I have ever left because it was too loud. Seats were back of the house near sound board. I was really looking forward to the show.
Performances were awesome but the PA setup was disappointing. Sound reproduction at the Carolina Theatre is consistently excellent but the PA setup for this show detracted from the experience. Poor speaker placement resulted in a booming low-mid that smothered the vocals. Still a big fan of Hiatt and the Carolina Theatre!
John Hiatt, Sonny Landreth, and the Goners put on a great show. John was in great voice and Sonny is a magician on the slide guitar. The Carolina Theatre is a wonderful venue with great seating and great sound. They really do bring in some world-class artists to Durham. We have seen many concerts over the years and have always been impressed. Highly Recommended!!!
You've gotta see John Hiatt with The Goners if you haven't yet. Rocking show! I wanted to dance in the aisle. Great energy. Infectious.
Big fan of John Hiatt and Sonny Landreath was the real deal.
John Hiatt provided a first-class performance, along with The Goners. High energy, seemed to be enjoying the evening, and interacted well with the audience. An excellent event!
This was, without doubt, one of the best shows this year. I have been a long time fan and the acoustics at the Lexington Opera House really brought this show to life. Loved every minute!!
The sound was awesome. Very gracious hosts to help find our seats. John Hiatt and and his musicians were so great! Jen Tackett was delightful!
This was my first time at Lexington Opera House, It was impressive. Great place to see this type of production.
His voice was as good as ever, & Sonny Landreth was on slide guitar. What else could you ask for?
It was a pleasure to see John Hiatt and Sonny Landreth on the same stage at the same time. These are two men who have had long careers that have touched the lives of so many. For John Hiatt fans, this was an incredible show even tough there were numerous songs I would have liked to have been played that weren't, but that is to be expected with the length of John's career. I will also note that John not only introduced the band (The Goners) but he also introduced the two guitar techs and the sound guy.
John Hiatt presented an impressive show. Enjoyed him a lot.
Saw Hiatt for probably my 30th+ time in 25 years. He was very entertaining and with Sonny Landreth, Kenny Blevins and Dave Ranson, you just could not pick a better show to attend. Sonny is a supremely talented guitarist in his own right and when paired with a legendary songwriting talent such as Hiatt, the music was brilliant. Great show! My only desire is that John would play a few more obscure songs and retire a few that he tends to play a LOT. But that’s just me…
I could listen to these guys play over and over again!!! John Hiatt, Sonny Landreth and the Goners are great! If you have an opportunity to hear them don’t pass it up!
Really like the sound and style as he had his original band this go round. Other concerts with more of a jazz band were good to but not his original sound and style.
I haven’t seen musicians all have such a good time in a while! Great music. Great band! (The warm up act actually hurt my ears tho)
