Joffrey Ballet Tickets

Othello was beautifully done. The partnering work is exquisite. It was a little more modern than I had expected, still well worth seeing.

Everything from the storyline to the performers to the music was exquisite. I longed for for when it was over.

I'm not the greatest ballet fan but go to several a year because my wife wife enjoys them. I am so pleased we saw Othello while visiting Chicago. One of the best performances we have seen. Dramatic dancing, a great story, and the orchestra was outstanding. A truly outstanding program.

This was probably the best ballet I have ever seen and my mother and I have been going to ballets every year for the past 15 years. If you know Othello, you know it's about very base human emotions (love, jealously, ambition, betrayal). We can all understand those and they can be brought to life in images, which is what ballet is. Knowing the back story (it's in the playbill if you haven't read the actual play), you know who the characters are and what their emotional state is during each act. It was brought together wonderfully and quite imaginatively by the choreographer. The orchestra was absolutely AMAZING! The music, the dance and of course the dancers were brilliant and I couldn't say enough good things about this show. For the record (and for those of you that may feel the same), I'm not a huge contemporary ballet fan and went in thinking I wasn't going to enjoy this show, but I was proven wrong. There were still a large number of classical elements to the entire show and the dancers pulled it off flawlessly.

Exquisite performance from all cast members. Plot was easy to follow with an incredible and powerful sound from the orchestra. Othello, Cassio and Iago really impressed me with their intensity. The coreography was flawless. I thought I was going to fall asleep but I was so captivated by the dancing and music that I think I was more involved in the performance than my wife. She truly adored the whole thing. It's one of those events that you would not mind watching again. I had a great and comfortable view from the box seats.

Another fabulous production by The Joffrey. The dancing is all that can be hoped for and the orchestra is spot on as always. The interactions among dancers tell the story as readily as the original dialogue penned by Shakespeare himself.

This was outstanding. The dancers, especially Othello and his wife, were unbelievable. I was so anxious to see this and it went above and beyond my expectations. I was really impressed by the set and the costumes as well. Overall this was an absolutely amazing performance. Well done!!

I thoroughly enjoyed the ballet. I am a strong proponent of Shakespeare's works, and it was a pleasure viewing one of his works through the prism of dance. Well done!

Othello draws the viewer in emotionally while watching amazingly powerful and graceful movements. The lead is superb in his athletic skill, nailing his role. Physical movements must be exaggerated to portray the emotion of the storyline, which the entire cast also nails. Truly a spectacular performance!

The Joffrey Ballet's interpretation of Othello was nothing short of mesmerizing! The dancing was at times lithe, and at times energetic and intense. Even in knowing how the story was going to end, the tension leading up to the inevitable climax was palpable. What a thoroughly satisfying emotional experience. This is a show not to be missed!

The music and the dance were beautiful and compelling. I enjoyed the second and third acts much more than the first, perhaps because they were higher energy, but also perhaps because I wasn't too sure if the orchestra was really gelling during the first act. What the dancers can achieve technically and artistically is always amazing. Attending the Joffrey never disappoints.

This production by the Joffrey Ballet was fabulous! Each moment left me entranced, waiting for the next. The costumes and scenery were fascinating without overshadowing the dancers whose emotional, powerful and exquisite performance created characters that left you breathless at the end of each scene. Don't miss this performance, wonderful for the mature student who needs to be introduced to Shakespeare with appreication.
