This was my first time at a ballet and Cinderella was a wonderful place to start. We laughed at the Stepsisters and were in awe of the beauty of the dancing. To share this with my daughter and granddaughter made it a very special night.
It was my first live ballet. It was amazing!! I would love to see more. Thank you to all the amazing artists. They are truly gifted!!
Don't expect your Walt Disney Cinderella....there is a little twist to it...but loved it!! The step-sisters are a hoot!!!! I didn't quite understand the jester's role -- didn't understand his purpose. But overall.....EXCELLENT BALLET!!! Joffrey does it again!!! Welcome Back!
Attending the Joffrey Ballet's return to LA was worthwhile on all fronts. It was particularly audience friendly and magical.
fabulous colorful wonderful entertaining funny surprising
The ballet looked great, but the seats were so bad that Dorothy chandler should not sell them without a warning. I bought balcony seats for my 10 year old daughter and myself in row H. She could not see over half the stage as the railing blocked her view because of her size. We eventually moved to the top row because they were the only seats available. The ballet looked like it was amazing! I just would have liked to actually see it.
I've never liked ballet before and I loved this. Beautiful staging, costumes, and dancing.
I love to go see the ballet. It is just so stunning! Wish I could go once at least once a month!
Went to Joffrey Ballet's Cinderella with my daughter for my Birthday. I was extremely disappointed. I thought the caliber of dancers was no where near as good as I recall Joffrey Ballet to be in the past. Many noticable slip-ups and unsynchroized moments; possibly it had something to do with the coreography. With the exception of the two men who had comical roles as the mean step-sisters (they were the only thing that held the show together) and the beautiful toe work of the ballerina who played the fairy god-mother, I feel like I paid for an amateur performance. There was nothing to rave about after seeing this much anticipated showing.
Beautiful costumes, dancing and stage sets. Choreography is a little busy in the second act, but there is so much beautiful talent. Just loved the stepsisters!
Most of the dancers other than Cinderella and the Jester were just average. The whole show was a bit slow paced as well.
This production was par excellence. The dancers were outstanding. The fairy tale ballet was performed with beautiful sets. The costumes were beautiful. And the stepsisters and the jester provided hilarious comic relief. If I were Roger Ebert, this ballet would get two thumbs up. See it before it leaves town.
I went with my 5 year old daughter. She was enthralled with the performance from the moment the curtain opened. It was fantastic! I feel honored to have been there!
I just read the program cover to cover because I am still living inthe moment of the show. Glorious costumes, the sets are wonderful. The music amazing. The dancers were illuminating! Graceful, elegant, and inspiring. All of them, the fairies were enchanting and Cinderella was the most wonderfu dancer I have ever seen! And the males, gorgeous, strong and masterful. The step sisters were a hoot and I loved their costumes too. I Can't wait to see them again. I will definately seeing The Kings of Dance to experience this, my favorite artform. Thank you all for your creative efforts! Truly inspiring.
The Joffrey Ballet performed "Cinderella" far beyond my greatest expectation. The entire cast was superb, yet, if Victoria Jaiani is not a "prima ballerina," there IS no such animal. With all due respect to the talented troups that performed last year, notably Ailey and Latino Folklorico, this Joffrey performance epitomizes what ballet is truly about! All of the performances were "on pointe" (no pun intended). I encourage everyone to see this wonderful production as it's truly worth beyond the ticket prices......."I'm jus sayin!"
The evening was spectacular. Amazing performance! A must see! Choreography was great. The show had a bit of humor. Cinderella's sisters did a fantastic job!
My mother and I enjoyed the ballet. I loved the costumes.
I want to see this show again. There are so many magical moments. The dancing is spectacular, music is lovely, sets and costumes are luscious. If you're a ballet fan, it doesn't get any better than this.
This was my first professional ballet performance and all I can say is WOW! From the minute the curtain opened till it dropped for the final time, I was in awe. Their grace and eloquence as they move across the stage is breathtaking and inspiring. I really hope they come back to Des Moines again and am grateful for the opportunity to see them!
