About

Best known for his powerful guitar licks, Joe Walsh has entertained the masses and captivated his peers for more than three decades with such classics as “Funk #49,” “Walk Away,” “Life’s Been Good,” and “Ordinary Average Guy.” In 1969 Walsh found success with The James Gang, followed by a stint with Barnstorm, a trio he founded.  In 1973 Joe released his first solo album, which proved him a legitimate solo act with a limitless career on the horizon. By 1975 he joined The Eagles, bringing a harder rock sound to the group with the acclaimed Hotel California, The Long Run and Eagles Live.

In 1994, after a 14-year hiatus and several solo albums, The Eagles released Hell Freezes Over, which reached #1 on the Billboard charts and sparked one of the most successful tours in music history. And in 1998 The Eagles were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the first year they were nominated. Walsh performed at the 2012 Grammy’s with Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen and Dave Grohl and at the 2012 MusiCares event honoring Paul McCartney. That June Walsh released Analog Man, his first solo album in 20 years, performing solo shows around the world to support it throughout that year. In 2013 the award winning The History of The Eagles showcased at Sundance, the two part authorized documentary, and in February it aired on Showtime. In conjunction with the April release onto DVD the Eagles began their extensive The History of The Eagles World Tour. On February 9 2014 Walsh was featured in several songs on the CBS Special The Night The Changed America: A Grammy Salute to The Beatles. In 2014 Walsh played select solo shows as well as with the Eagles on The History of The Eagles World Tour, with new dates continuing throughout 2015.  In April 2015 Walsh performed with Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr for Starr’s Induction into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, later broadcast on HBO. In May 2015 Walsh joined Eddie Vedder and Pete Townsend for an All Star Celebration of The Who’s music to benefit Teen Cancer America.

    1 Nite, 6 hour Tour

by Concert Guru on 11/17/22Nationwide Arena - Columbus

Joe Walsh and The James Gang were fantastic. One of my favorite live performances. Thank you Joe for giving us your all and playing until 11:50PM. The Black Keys absolutely surprised me how great they sounded and put 110% into their performance. I appreciate the Breeders sound and artistic music. My disappointment was Nine Inch Nails. NIN were way to loud and there was so much strobe light I literally felt I was going to throw up for a few minutes. I will never go to another concert for Nine Inch Nails. Lastly, it would have been nice to see Dave Grohl play a few of his hits from Foo Fighters or the other band we don't speak of, Nirvana. It was great to see Dave Grohl, but let his talents shine too. Yes, Joe Walsh is a stand up guy, a legend, and a hero to Vets.

    Amazing once-in-a-lifetime experience

by Chris Y on 11/17/22Nationwide Arena - Columbus

I feel so honored to have been at the VetsAid concert in Columbus. All the acts sounded amazing, but witnessing Joe play all his iconic songs, either solo or with The James Gang, was a bucket list item for sure. His guitar play was superb and his vocals are still so strong.

    Joe Walsh Vets Aid 2022

by Bartology on 11/17/22Nationwide Arena - Columbus

One of the best shows I’ve been to. Every band that performed delivered a kick-ass set and seeing Dave Grohl join in with a few of them was a special treat. Joe Walsh (and the James Gang, too) can still rock the house, the Black Keys are something special and the Breeders were good. My only criticism would be that the Breeders sounded a bit “muddy” - the vocals were a bit difficult to discern from the music - but having been to countless concerts have noticed that it’s not uncommon for the first act to sometimes not have the best sound… But the biggest surprise for me was how much I actually liked Nine Inch Nails performance. I honestly wasn’t real familiar with them (let’s just say that I am probably a little older than the average fan of the band) beyond the songs “Closer” (which they to my surprise didn’t play) and “Hurt”. It was high energy, in-your-face and, like Joe said after they were done and before his final set, “That was my first Nine Inch Nails concert. I liked it!” Enough said! Since I hadn’t seen Joe Walsh before, I considered it a “bucket list” event and am grateful that he not only put on a great show himself, he enlisted such an entertaining lineup of acts. And it was all for a genuinely good cause. Since this is supposedly a review of Joe Walsh, I would recommend seeing him anytime. He’s still got it! The first concert I ever attended (1974) had the James Gang as the opening act, but Tommy Bolin (definitely no slouch by the way) was their guitarist then. So to see the band almost fifty years later with Joe was truly special.

    Joe Walsh’s extravaganza in Ohio

by Tuxedo English on 11/17/22Nationwide Arena - Columbus

Joe Walsh assembled an extravaganza in Columbus, recruiting Ohio’s best bands to raise money for Veterans. James Gang, Black Keys, 9 inch nails, Breeders, and special guest, Dave Grohl! Six hours of great rock. Columbus has a nice restaurant scene around the Nationwide Arena. Hit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland the day before. Awesome adventure with my best friend and twin brother, Kevin! I’ll never forget this!!!

Joe Walsh/James Gang/Veterans put this show in my top 10

by Analog Girl on 11/17/22Nationwide Arena - Columbus

The show was awesome! James Gang was on fire! I had front row center section. The sound was awesome - front of house had Eagles laminates so it was dialed in. Made one of my top ten shows. I was there for Joe/James Gang and the Veterans, but I enjoyed the Breeders, Black Keys, NIN and the brief sit ins with Dave Grohl. Flew in from Nederland, CO, Joes/Barnstorms old stomping ground. Reason for the 4 stars is twofold: I'm old school, so having to have a phone to get in forced me to get one and won't be used further, and this thing with venues not accepting cash for food and beverage is unAmerican and pro NWO/digital currency/loss of freedom and independence. Big Gov and Big Business ruined the lives of the free thinking Canadian Truckers when their money was frozen for peacefully protesting mandated experimental genetic modification jabs and masks. So it was sadly ironic that we were thanking and celebrating our Vets for fighting for our FREEDOM and independence, while the global corporations work their dark agendas and set us up to be tracked, judged, and punished just like in unfree/communist countries. So yeah that can't get a 5th star.

    Wowsers!

by Hawkity Pawkity on 11/16/22Nationwide Arena - Columbus

We had such a great time! Parking was easy to get to and the walk wasn't far. Entering into the Arena was a breeze and the staff was helpful at guiding patrons on where seats were located. The concert itself was sensational! Although we found some bands more entertaining and enjoyable than others, overall our experience with Joe Walsh and friends was worth every penny! Seeing James Gang and Dave Grohl was our favorite!!!

    floor was super sticky

by danny on 11/16/22Nationwide Arena - Columbus

my view in section 205 was blocked by the speakers. It would’ve been nice to have seen the concert on the Jumbotron. The floor was sticky and bathrooms had a 10 minute line to use. seats were tight. I’m glad no one sat next to me.

    VetsAid

by True Ohio Fan on 11/16/22Nationwide Arena - Columbus

Joe Walsh and The James Gang and the Finale were fantastic! Two of the bands, The Breeders and Nine Inch Nails were way too loud to the point of disturbing. I am so surprised that the lights and the noise was at a Veterans concert due to PTSD. Wow!

    4:30 Open Doors/NIN

    by M on 11/16/22Nationwide Arena - Columbus

Great job opening at 4:30, 90 minutes before show. Nationwide didn't keep people out in the cold for once. The problem we had, as well as folks around us, was with Nine Inch Nails. They came on too loud, much louder than the other bands. Our chairs were vibrating and people were holding their ears. This may not have been an issue if you sat further away, but it was painful close to the stage. In my opinion, Nine Inch Nails did not fit with the rest of the concert.

    VetsAid 2022

by Tangie on 11/16/22Nationwide Arena - Columbus

The shows were amazing. I didn’t care for The Breeders but that is personal taste. Everything was great. Joe Walsh was wonderful. He is such a sincere guy. It was my first time and of course I was not let down. The seats were way to high for me 214 L 11/12 lol but we’ll worth it.

    Loved It!

by KD on 11/16/22Nationwide Arena - Columbus

Some might think this was a long concert, I never noticed the time! What I did notice was all the great musicianship, the music, the crowd - all awesome….and the lines to the men’s rooms were longer than the women’s. Pure Awesomeness.

The entire show was wonderful but James Gang is who I’ve been longing to hear live and they were on it! Such an awesome event and for a very worthy cause.
