This was a really good show. It would have been great if Chico DeBarge sang a few more songs solo. He made up for it in the end when he and Joe came together for a Michael Jackson tribute. Joe was wonderful. It was worth every penny.
This show was amazing! Joe and Chico were both great.
The show was great! Chico Debarege was very good but Joe was who I wanted to see. Thank you so much Carter Barron for all of the great shows you have each year.
Overall a very good show. The opening act was an all-girl band called Bella Donna (sp?) and they were more a go-go band. But they got us warmed up. Chico did a small set and I don't know why. His first album was really good, wished he had done more. But Joe did a very long and very good set of old and new. He sure had me lusting after him by the end (or really even at the beginning when he stepped out in his tux). Very fun show and beautiful night at Carter Barron.
OMG, still swooning from that concert. I can't think of a better way to spend a Saturday evening. JOE actually sounds better in person than he does on the albums. He is AMAZING. He looked so sexy and was dressed to the 9's, as usual. LOVE him. Chico looked cute, and sounded okay, but he can't hold a candle to JOE, sorry. They did a couple duets: "Rock with You" (MJ), and "No Guarantees" (Chico). Both sounded good. I stood right by the stairs so I could touch JOE every time he came to the side of the stage. Did I mention he's amazing? Goodness. Sang every song I wanted to hear (except Sex Girl). Nice mix of the classics and the new stuff. Wish he had done autographs for more than the big girls (what was that about?) they let backstage:(
I TRULY ENJOYED THIS SHOW. THE OPENING ACT WAS WONDERFUL AND THE HEADLINER WAS OFF THE CHARTS. THE SETTING WAS A PERFECT CONCERT UNDER THE STARS, THE WEATHER WAS PERFECT THE AUDIENCE WAS ONE BIG WONDERFULLY ENTERTAINED HAPPY FAMILY.
To begin the weather turned out to be wonderful, it's always a thought in the back of your mind wondering if your going to get caught in the rain just to see a show. The show began with a all female band "Belle Don" if I'm correct. They were outstanding I ususally can't really get into a band just hearing them for the first time if I am not familiar with songs but they were definitely a hit. Then came Chico DeBarge. I have not yet purchased his new CD "Addicted" but his performance brought me back, and I think I might just have to pick that one up. AND JOE!!!!! I always enjoy his performances. I will forever purchase a ticket and see him whenever he is in town. JOE gives an excellent performance everytime he is on stage! I believe that he is one of the most underated artist out here. I don't think that his old record label gave him the props and the push but I think that we are in for the truth now that he and Kedar are doing their thing without the Jive.
joe was sexy as ever, the all female band bela'dona was great and chico made my heart throb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! great show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The concert was absolutely fantastic! Both Joe and Chico were better than expected. I cannot stop talking about the concert because it was so good. I feel like I owe them both more money for their wonderful performances.
The weather and the audience were on one accord! From the opening act, Bela Donna to Chico Debarge to Joe, the show was a bargain for $24! The all female band represented for all the beautiful ladies in the audience and did a great homage to Erykah Badu, Beyonce and Keri Hilson. The sound system seemed to be a bit under par for Chico's set which was entirely too short. Joe surprised me with his stage presence and vocals live! My fiance' was impressed with him. Overall, it was a wonderful night for live music and each act displayed their true talent! There is nothing like live performances. DC is da best.....
The concert was wonderful. The all female band was really good. Chico Debarge was actually pretty boring. I like his music but he didnt have a good stage presence. He also was not dressed appropriately to perform. However, Joe was OUTSTANDING!!!! I have attended Joe's concerts before and I thought he was good. This time around, he took it to a new level of great. He performed his old music and new music. The man was dressed in a tuxedo! He was very much into what he was singing. He shook hands with people and played the guitar. I left the concert and went home to pull out all of my older Joe cds. I was very impressed. I love him!!!
Joe is a great singer and entertainer. This was my first time seeing him. The crowd was rude and stood up blocked the audience's view. I'll stick with the "old school" shows at Carter Barron.
The places is so nice. The view was wonderful and the lines were long but they moved very fast and we still got a great sit. I had a wonderful time.
The performance overall was worth the $24 I spent. If I had to divide the pie up it would go like this: JOE 75% of the pie Chico- 5% of the pie Beladonna-20% of the pie. Joe is a consumate performer. Was he sing to a track? hmmm..... Chico needs to take notes from Joe. His performance was weak. It seemed more of a sound check rather than the actual performance. Beladonna a D.C. based all-girl group was the hit of the evening. If your in DC check them out.
I really enjoyed his performance it was flawless, his first song was a tune recorded back in the Debarge days (I like it), then he sang from the Cd Long Time No See (Love is Still Good), it felt good to hear him sing; I wish I could have heard The Unloved and Style but he had to perform his new songs from his new CD Addiction which dropped on July 14th (go get it) and yes it's a hit; if you remember Iggin Me then this CD will be on the same page, I'm so glad he's back, we need good music and Mr. Debarge definitely put his heart into it. I wish I could have told him my story of how I became a fan, well the short story; I was in a car crash and Chico debarge was playing in the CD player and I thought I was'nt going to make it, I tried to turn off the music so I could hear the Firemen and Paramedics, Imagine the scene from Crash, well that was the scene but instead I turned it up by mistake the tune The Unloved #5 from the Free CD blasted out the speakers, while I was praying and the Fire Department was freeing me(Jaws of Life) I closed my eyes and listened to his words and I felt his pain, then #6 Style played and I cried, I was like if I had to go, well I havea beautiful voice to listen too, when I was pulled from the car, I begged the fireman to get my cd out, he didn't but they said I looked like I was in some sort of trance, God saved my life and Mr. Jonathan Arthur Debarge aka Chico I thank you for your beautiful voice.
I had a great time at the show on Saturday night. Carter Baron is a great venue and the weather was just perfect! Chico DeBarge was good and sounded great live. I think I would have enjoyed his performance better in a more intimate setting. He is truly talented, but not very energetic. But....when Joe hit the stage, I must say I was truly impressed. I am a fan and have enjoyed his music for years, but wasn't expecting him to be such a great performer. He lit up the stage with some of his oldies but goodies and music from his new cd. He danced all over the stage and it was truly a great performance! The show ended with a tribute to the late great Michael Jackson and Joe and Chico performed No Gaurantee. Awesome show!
I actually had a great time, Chico Debarge still looks the same, even better he still got it. Joe was great too, he sounds just like his CD's that was the first time that I have ever heard Chico and Joe in a live concert. I would recommend that if you have never seen them in concert go and get your tickets you will not regret it.
Sound system needed to be a little louder, with a little more bass and bottom end on the kick drum.
Great preformance by Joe Chico should have wore a suit or something more formal and sing more songs from his second album. Words not clear enough from Chico
This event was just awesome, unfortunately Chico did not have the time to give his all to the audience, he has so much material that he didn't get a chance to share (this was totally disappointing), although the girl group was good, the main events are always expected to have time to deliver and fulfill the expectations of their audience. I felt he got cheated. Joe of course was (OFF THE CHAIN), he delivered beyond expectations and I am glad that he brought out Chico a second time, I think he felt Chico got a raw deal in this event. Chico needs to be a headliner of his own show. All in all, JOE was the class act he always is and I can't say enough about this man, the women were just going wild. He exudes such maturity in his show and it's such a turn on. He is an old soul and young women were commenting about the fact that he is only 36 yrs old and seem so well versed in his songs. I am very proud of this brother, he really is the Shis nick!!!!
