About

JOE SATRIANI IN CONCERT:

Joe Satriani’s virtuoso guitar playing is more than just flawless technique and blistering speed -- he also forms an emotional connection with fans that is beyond words. His genuine love of riff-based rock ensures that audiences are in for a sonic thrill ride at his live shows, where his nimble fingers and finely tuned ear bring his ballads to life. While “Satch” (as friends and fans refer to him) turns melodies inside out and shreds up a storm, his cast of astounding supporting musicians keeps the grooves solidly rocking throughout six-string stunners like “Surfing with the Alien”, “Satch Boogie”, and “Flying in a Blue Dream”.  Ticket buyers are in for a transcendent instrumental experience that can't be beat, featuring a brilliant musician in impeccable form.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The highest-selling instrumental rock guitarist of all time, Joe Satriani was born in Westbury, NY in 1956. Before he gained fame, Satch made a living teaching some of the most influential guitarists of the ‘80s, including Kirk Hammett (Metallica), Steve Vai (David Lee Roth), and Larry LaLonde (Primus). His solo career took off with the hits “Always with Me, Always with You” and “Satch Boogie” off his 1987 album Surfing with the Alien. He kept his hot streak alive with his next two albums Flying in a Blue Dream (1988) and The Extremist (1992), which both went gold. In 1996 Satriani started the G3 Tour with friends Steve Vai and Eric Johnson to bring instrumental guitar music to the masses. In 2008 Satch joined forces with former Van Halen members Sammy Hagar (vocals), Michael Anthony (bass), and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith to create the supergroup Chickenfoot. While those projects keep him crazy busy, Satriani still continues to tour -- bringing venues like Warner Theatre to capacity -- and record as a solo artist, releasing Unstoppable Momentum in 2013.

    Satch rocks!

by Ricky1952 on 12/22/10Uptown Theater - Kansas City

It was a great show. I was a little disappointed in KC for not filling the place up. What's with that? Anyway, I enjoyed it and would do it again.

    Joe is always FANTASTIC!

by Kellyanne67 on 12/22/10Uptown Theater - Kansas City

I've seen Joe at this venue before (Uptown Theatre) and it was great this time as well. He always puts on a good show and the audience is very involved. I hope he comes back to the Uptown as I will go see him again...

    A Master of his Machine

by KramerFanatic on 12/22/10Uptown Theater - Kansas City

Unbelievable concert! Played some old hits and new ones. He really enjoyed himself and his band! Amazing keyboardist! I loved the little "duel" between Satch and the keyboardist. Great light show effect, and a digital backboard that appeared in synch with Satch's playing. Satch brought out the acoustic guitar and played amazing as usual. The crowd was about 1/2 full, which made for a more relaxed environment. The best concert ever!!

    Satriani, incredible as usual!

by jsatfan on 12/22/10Uptown Theater - Kansas City

Amazing musical experience as usual. Saw a longtime fan experience Joe for the first time, haven't gotten a chance to talk to him but I bet he was awed and mesmorized by the experience as I was even after seeing Joe for the 4th time. Always amazing to see and hear the creativity Joe brings to the guitar genre, great supporting cast (band members) as usual, especially liked the prominant keyboard playing now.

    A two-and-a-half guitar solo

by RonnyLi on 12/22/10Uptown Theater - Kansas City

Joe and his band did precisely what I expect from a professional outfit. The sound crew got everything set up properly and on time. Joe and his mates came out and gave the audience their money's worth. I'm completely guitarded now. I can't even listen to the radio. Nothing they can play would compare to Joe's performance. My sons were mesmerized. The ability to transcend generations is quite the trick, Joe.

    Joe's A God

by Pierre1980 on 12/22/10The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

This guy is in his 50's and has more energy than most guitarists half his age! This is the first time I've seen him live and I was impressed. I would have thought his intense style would wear somebody down. I would have thought there would be breaks between songs, an intermission, or at least switching back and forth between the hard playing he's notorious for and some "easier" stuff. Nope, he went non-stop for almost two hours with the incredible performance I've always known and loved from his CDs.

Joe is the best there has ever been.

by Greg0711 on 12/22/10The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

Nobody past or present has the ability of Joe. He is capable of doing anything with the guitar and makes it look easy.

Joe Sat's concert in Chicago was phenomenal

by bridgeman on 12/22/10The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

It seems everytime I see him he puts more energy into his performance. None stop high energy guitar playing. You can tell when a talented artist loves what he is doing, it radiates through out the theater to everyone in the crowd. I am never disapointed, always impressed.

    Guitar Heaven!

by KittyM on 12/21/10The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

Bought tickets to this show for husband for Xmas. Hotel was in next block so easy show to get to. Opening act was good too. Husband's listened to Joe for years, so he was in 7th heaven. My thought was, man, can that guy rock a guitar.

    Joe has unlimited energy

by SecretNaserMan on 12/21/10The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

Joe played for over two hours and never showed any signs of slacking off. The band was so tight and played some of the old favorites from earlier albums. Joe Satriani was truly inspirational to all of us guitarists. It is something to be experienced.

    The master delivered

by starslinger72 on 12/21/10The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

Satch started out hot and never let up. The master played for almost two hours straight and had only a short break before coming out for an encore. Played everything I wanted to hear except Learn to Fly, but with the new stuff that more than made up for it. Hope he returns to the Chicago area again soon!

Joe never disappoints, but LIVE NATION HORRIBLE!!

by LeiAlii on 12/21/10Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

The meet and greet was good, even though we waited for a long time for the rest of the VIP's to show up. This concert was done by Live Nation, and they really oversold the VIP passes, which is not anything like the more intimate meet and greet that was not done by Live Nation. This is now the second time we have been to a Live Nation event in the past 6 months, and it seems like they care about how much money they can make, and not give us the experience that we paid for. Maybe it's a curse, but they did not provide VIP lanyards (again!!! Still nothing from the Eagles concert) Still have not received them in the mail as promised, and the concert was on Dec 1, and it is the 21st. I hope Live Nation gets their act together. They have so far botched 2 concerts, oversold VIP tickets, and failed to provide items as promised. They have not even had the courtesy to call/email me back since the Eagles Green Concert in Atlanta. I know that I am not alone in this, and I encourage others who feel that the "experience" they advertise as of yet has not been delivered. Do not recommend going to their events, and I hope that they are not a part of any upcoming concerts in 2011, as we plan to go and see our favorite bands.

by WantAB on 12/21/10The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

How many guitar players in the crowd tonight and all were blown away by the alien that landed his UFO on us all that night. Joe is the blast of rock, and none stop natural high.
