It was a cold, and blustery night. The air was filled with the scent of snow and the vendors' warm salty pretzels........
I have been a concert attendee for over 40 years, particularly, Manhattan and Staten Island and was very impressed with the logistics employed by the Best Buy Theater. The security staff handled the ticket holders, from the line up, announcing the actual time frame of the event, having the tickets ready, the pat down, scanning our tickets and entrance, was achieved in a courteous and professional manner.
While inside, the announcement of wrist bands for alcohol was a welcome change from those venues where it seems that everyone was allowed to drink, and one was at risk of slipping on a beer slick floor. Also of note: the bathrooms are, thankfully, functional, spacious and well maintained.
I cannot remember, if at all, a concert that actually began on a set schedule.
The acoustics at the Best Buy Theater was fantastic. I could hear, clearly, the vocals, as well as the balanced sound of Joe and his band.
Joe's playing seemed effortless, as he appeared to barely break a sweat, having performed for two plus hours. His command of the guitar is incredible, with many of his songs sounding like symphonic pieces. The band is a tight, cohesive unit. Guest players are always a treat, and seeing two highly skilled musicians, John Petrucci and Joe "dueling", was a great way to end the show.
This was our maiden voyage to the Best Buy Theater. Our entire experience was thoroughly enjoyable, from beginning to end. I look forward to more of the same in the near future.
