About

JOE SATRIANI IN CONCERT:

Joe Satriani’s virtuoso guitar playing is more than just flawless technique and blistering speed -- he also forms an emotional connection with fans that is beyond words. His genuine love of riff-based rock ensures that audiences are in for a sonic thrill ride at his live shows, where his nimble fingers and finely tuned ear bring his ballads to life. While “Satch” (as friends and fans refer to him) turns melodies inside out and shreds up a storm, his cast of astounding supporting musicians keeps the grooves solidly rocking throughout six-string stunners like “Surfing with the Alien”, “Satch Boogie”, and “Flying in a Blue Dream”.  Ticket buyers are in for a transcendent instrumental experience that can't be beat, featuring a brilliant musician in impeccable form.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The highest-selling instrumental rock guitarist of all time, Joe Satriani was born in Westbury, NY in 1956. Before he gained fame, Satch made a living teaching some of the most influential guitarists of the ‘80s, including Kirk Hammett (Metallica), Steve Vai (David Lee Roth), and Larry LaLonde (Primus). His solo career took off with the hits “Always with Me, Always with You” and “Satch Boogie” off his 1987 album Surfing with the Alien. He kept his hot streak alive with his next two albums Flying in a Blue Dream (1988) and The Extremist (1992), which both went gold. In 1996 Satriani started the G3 Tour with friends Steve Vai and Eric Johnson to bring instrumental guitar music to the masses. In 2008 Satch joined forces with former Van Halen members Sammy Hagar (vocals), Michael Anthony (bass), and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith to create the supergroup Chickenfoot. While those projects keep him crazy busy, Satriani still continues to tour -- bringing venues like Warner Theatre to capacity -- and record as a solo artist, releasing Unstoppable Momentum in 2013.

Gutiar God Joe Satriani was awesome as usual!!!

by Den2000 on 12/13/10Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

My best friend and I have seen Joe every year since we saw him at music midtown in 2000. Every time, he just keeps getting better and better! Joe played a lot of song off of his newest album Black Swans & Wormhole Wizards, but he also play a bunch of his old stuff, too. This year he added a keyboardist, which he hasn't had in many years. It added element to the music, not to mention that that guy was really getting into the music; he was fun to watch. Also, I should mention that there was only one opening act that only played for about 30 mins or so, and Joe played from about 8:45'ish until around 11pm!!! It was AWESOME!!! This was my first time ever being in the Center Stage theater, I was pretty small as far as the usual venue that we see Joe perform in, but it was still pretty cool. Plenty of seats and plenty of floor space for standing, which we much prefer to do! All in all, it was an amazing night! I definitely recommend going to see him every time he is in town!

    Best JS show ever!!!!!

by StevewNJ on 12/12/10Tower Theatre - Upper Darby

I've seen Joe many many times and I must say it was the best show ever. The sound quality was perfect and the crowd was great. Joe played a bunch of old songs and just about all of the new album, which is awesome. Anyone going to a future show is in for a real treat. I would not miss this show. Joe has proven again that he his the master of the guitar and the best on planet Earth.

    Satriani @ the Tower

by harleyglide on 12/12/10Tower Theatre - Upper Darby

I have been a fan of Joe Satriani since the early 90's and have seen him live many times including previous shows at the Tower. The show of 12/10/10 was the best I have ever seen him. He usually tours with an opening act or two that detract from the time that Joe actually has to play -not this time. He started out hard and fast and never stopped for the better part of a 2 hour show- WOW !! The addition of a keyboard player and rhythm guitarist only added to the fullness of sound that erupted in the tower that evening. The video screens also added excitement and enhancement to an already full tilt show. Joe mixed in the new with the old and his skills as the premier guitarist of his time have not diminished. I brought my entire family and the consensus was unanimous - Joe is the the BEST !!

I don't have to think about it when i say that Joe satriani is one of the most impressive musicians of our time. His shows are mind blowing for the beginning musician and inspiring to even those with experience.

    Exceptional Guitar, Excessive Volume

by HugeCCRFan on 12/7/10Palace Theater - Greensburg

Joe Satriani is without doubt an exceptional guitar player. He does absolutely incredible things on a guitar. His performance is a very straightforward instrumental with very little interruption between songs. The concert was over 2 hours and 15 minutes long. I listened to the end of it in the lobby as the music volume actually became painful from my seats in the balcony, I can't imagine what the sound level was like in the first row. Ten hours later and my ears are still ringing. I have attended many concerts over many years including very loud groups like AC/DC, none have been this loud. After I came to the lobby I saw a good number of other people leaving, some indicating that it was simply too loud. The music was great but due to the excessive volume I can't recommend the concert unless you wear ear plugs. Turn it down just 3 to 5 decibels and the show would have been spectacular.

    Great concert

Opening act was talented but clearly rushed. Joe was simply on fire. Not a bad song or moment the entire show.

An incredible display of guitar virtuosity

by Chesterman on 12/6/10Pompano Beach Amphitheatre - Pompano Beach

If you're into rock guitar on any level, you owe it to yourself to see this show. Beyond the mind blowing guitar playing, it was probably the best sound I've heard a a concert in my life. Also, if you've not been to an event at the Pompano Beach Amphitheater, give it a shot. It's a great venue. Joe ought to add more acoustic to his set, as well as sing a few more songs. He's great at the former, and completely passable as the latter.

    Awesome as always.

by weesh on 12/6/10Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

Did the Meet and Greet package with Joe. He's amazing to listen to and is really nice to his fans. Had him sign my guitar (a Steinberger 6-string) and a Satcherator pedal. His performance was flawless and he played most of my faves.

    Satriani is the greatest!

by jsteph on 12/4/10Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

Joe Satriani is unquestionably the best of all worlds, lyrical when he wants to be, and thrashing when he lets himself show off. One of the best concerts ever!

    Great Performance!

by zrns on 12/4/10Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

Joe Satriani is a great performer and always puts on a cool and straight forward show. If you play guitar (even if only a beginner), you will surely appreciate Satriani's talent. This is my first time at this venue and it isnice, I was on the floor level a few feet from the stage and the acoustics were just right (no bouncing or echoes as in other venues in Atlanta) so I could hear everything very clearly and didn't end up with a deaf and ringing ear at the end of the show.

    Hey, it's Joe. Always amazing.

by CFFinnegan on 12/4/10Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

Joe was off the chain! Band was tight and the new keyboardist added another dimension. Truly amazing. If I could, I would follow him on this tour! As a guitarist myself, Joe is my HERO!

    Joe is awesome

by Anonymous on 12/3/10Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

Joe puts on a great guitar show - everyone can tell he really loves playing the guitar. And does he ever play! Even my wife, who's not really a Joe fan, found herself enjoying it. Joe is refreshing - he doesn't seem to take himself too seriously. He explores a wide variety of sounds and melodies, and can even keep the mellower moments interesting. But there's not too many of those. He managed to play a good bit of Black Swans and Wormhole Wizards, while belting out many of the old standards. Finishing up with Crowd Chant and Summer Song ended a great night.

    Joe's the best!

by hndwlkr on 12/3/10Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

3rd time in ten years to see Joe. Usually only plays hr. or so. Played 2hrs. 15 mins. with no break this time. Always really good sound. Just a touch too loud, slightly blurring some passages. Sad that the rare someone as great as Joe only draws 3-400 people, while the Stones fill stadiums. It's upside-down. Satriani obviously had big fun, rapport with bandmates strong.

    Awesome

by panama1 on 12/3/10Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

A little bit loud. The bass and the bass drum were a little overpowering.
