JO DEE MESSINA IN CONCERT:
Country music just wouldn't be the same without Jo Dee Messina's spunky collection of hits and trademark red hair. Her catchy country tunes have dominated the charts since the '90s, and they're even more compelling live. Whether she's showcasing her vocal prowess on hits like "Head Carolina, Tails California" or sharing her spirited attitude with adoring concertgoers, Messina definitely knows how to get the crowd going, leading fans in fun sing-alongs and telling stories along the way. BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
A Massachusetts native, Jo Dee Messina started out singing in local clubs with her siblings, eventually attracting the attention of Curb Records and moving to Nashville. Her solo career kicked off in 1996 with her widely successful self-titled debut, which reached No. 5 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart and produced two Top Ten singles. I'm Alright followed two years later and generated significant buzz with three No. 1 hits, ultimately going double platinum in the US. Since then, she's collaborated with Tim McGraw, toured with legends George Strait and The Judds, and sold over five million albums. With the desire to truly connect her fans to her music, Messina launched a Kickstarter campaign to support her 2014 album, reaching her goal in just 30 days due to her extremely dedicated fan base. Jo Dee Messina will treat audiences to her classics as well as new material from her fifth studio album Me on a string of upcoming shows.

As always Jodee gives the audience more than what they pay for. She is so down to Earth. Funny as can be. Great time for the entire family. We had a party of 7 from ages 10-68....Every single one of us left there smiling. Need I say more, A smile is free right Jodee.
Jo Dee Masina's show was fantastic - She interacted with the audience all night singing requests, joking and answering personal questions. We felt like we were at her house visiting. Great time.

I really didn't know what to expect, but the informal setting was great. Made me feel like a part of her family. She was suffering from a cold, but hung in there to perform 2 hours. Enjoyed the audience interaction and her answers to the questions were very interesting. Go JoDee!
it was a great, relaxing, down to earth atmosphere; made everyone feel like "home". Jo Dee was a trooper -- doing requests that weren't even hers (Martina McBride, Journey). She was a good sport about it! Great personality -- funny :-) It was good to see that "yea, she's normal just like us" :-) Thanks for that experience Jo Dee! I hope you're feeling better! the poor thing was sick but kept on singing!
We just LOVED the Music Room setting. It had such a personal touch & gave us the opportunity to get to know her & the band better than a regular concert. Her interaction with the crowd was awesome & she's so witty. We traveled from Minneapolis to Des Moines to see her & it was totally worth it !!!
Jodee is a great artist and tonight she was so intouch with her crowd. She has a great personality and really allowed her fans to know her as an artist and a person. She has a great sense of humor! It was great also to see an artist with out the ear plugs and able to sing any of her songs that she was asked. She also did some requests of songs that weren't hers. I wish her all the best and her label is crazy to not be utilizing this great artist more!!!!!!! I would absolutely love the chance to see her again!!!!!
This wasn't a traditional concert. Intimate one of a kind acoustic performance. Jo Dee involved the crowd by taking questions and requests. She has a laid back personality and a great sense of humor. She is an amazing singer and sounded better in concert than she does on the radio.
It was great show with a lot of fan interaction. Jo Dee had an amazing voice even for being under the weather. If she sounded that good sick, she must be increatiable when she is well.
Best concert I have been to! Very informal and relaxed. Jo Dee was great even with a cold and she was sooo funny! I thought she really gave an excellent performance and showed a human side that we don't usually see in a performer. It was just like she set it out to be, you felt like you were sitting in her music room hanging out and having a great time! Loved it!!!
The show was awesome. Jo Dee is such a talented singer. She has an awesome range and can sing anything. She even sang Martina McBride and Reo Speedwagon that night. This set-up of the show was fabulous. She called upon the audience so we could ask her questions, request songs. She called people up on stage. It was just amazing. And she sang her new song "That's God". That is the most beautiful song I have ever heard. I sure hope her album gets to come out on April 15th. When Jo Dee announced at the beginning of the show that she had a cold and hoped she wouldn't sound like Taylor Swift at the Grammy's! The whole place erupted with laughter! This is my favorite moment! I do have a suggestion - I think maybe Taylor Swift should get with Jo Dee for some voice lessons! Awesome show. I hope she comes back to Iowa soon!
The small venue at Prairie Meadows along with Jo Dee's interaction with the attendees provided a very intimate concert feel. The simple instrumental accompaniment (2 acoustic guitars, bass, box drum and occasional piano), comfortable stage, and limited lighting allowed fans to focus on Jo Dee's strong alto voice (which she belted out even with a cold) rather than get caught up in concert hype.
WOW what a voice! Dealing with a cold and everything that goes along with not being 100%, she delivered an incredible show and a 110% performance! Taking requests and showing us a side of herself and her band ordinarily hidden from all but a few, this was a show I'll remember for a long long time!
This was a good show. Glad I went. It was very cozy and she took questions from the audience. She sounded great, despite her saying she had a cold. It was nice to see this side of her. Loved her new songs and I'll be buying the CD when it comes out!
Jo Dee Messina is doing some small venues to give a more personalized experience. She talks about her inspirations, life, etc. She will answer questions and take requests. She pulled fans up on stage to sit on couches and watch show. This was a great experience and her music transcends genres as I hate country music as a whole but was amazed at this show.
What a unique evening! A small-venue show that had a "meet & greet" atmosphere. For about ninety minutes Jo Dee took questions from the audience, sang our requested songs, and told fun stories. She even invited a few audience members up onto stage to sit on a comfy set made to look like her music room at home, with big comfy sofas and chairs and a grand piano. She has a great sense of humor and it was a pleasure to get to know the real person.
Enjoyed Jo Dee's setting of her studio at home, open questions and requests. Welcome her back again real soon. She knows how to sing and has a great voice. Come back soon.
I thought it was a really great show. It was nice how she got the audiance involed the only thing I would change is maybe put some in the audiance with a mic so we can here what the other people are saying, and also so that the people that are in the back can ask questions and give requests. Sitting in the back we could not be seen or heard.
i have to admit when i realized what type of show she was doing i had to wonder, but i absolutely loved the intimacy of her show. you get to know her not just her music. she has a awesome sense of humor and down to earth morals. the show was absolutely awesome and i hope i get to see her again. thank you
