JJ Grey is a great showman. Even though he was sicker than a 50 cent chicken, JJ and the band put in a solid performance at the State Theater in Kalamazoo. His signature down home charm and humor shines through. Highly recommend and can't wait to see him again.
JJ was on the end of the flu and pushed through and still played a full concert that was entertaining. What a trooper. I am looking forward to heading back to Kalamazoo to see the next show he plays there.
Even though JJ was admittedly, sick, he put on a show like no other. This man has talent and words and a beautiful soul. I can't wait to see him again in Michigan. VIP Experience so worth it.
Everything went smooth from getting in, finding our seat, getting a 'beverage of choice', to leaving. There was no lul.. nothing was late.., no long lines for anything. I think maybe there could be a better spot for merchandise.. it got kind of in the way. But all in all I was there to see JJ and the State Theater is an amazing intimate venue to have done that.. it was perfect❤️
He was so sick but stuck it out for us! Still a great show. Loved it!
JJ always delivers but this tour he has definitely upgraded his band. The new guitarist and keyboard players are FIRE. I like the new album but he takes it to another level LIVE!
From parking to meeting jj to up grading to seating everything was awesome! Event staff was amazing everyone made you feel special! Then the show its self was phenomenal! Judith Hill Jammed out the JJ Grey took the stage and blew the roof off the venue! Excellent show all around.
Judith Hill was stunningly impressive. The fact that her parents are part of her band is beyond amazing. She has a new super-fan! JJ Grey is the most amazing showman I’ve ever seen. This is a ten-person band. Horns, bongos, piano, and of course, drums, guitars and keys. Every person in that band was smiling ear to ear, the entire concert. Aside from the amazing music, Mr. Grey is a downright nice guy. He had explained the inspiration behind every song. He had inspirational words for his audience. Most importantly, he shared the stage with his band members. He took every opportunity to sidestep the applause, and direct it to band members. He’s the type of guy you could have watch your kids and know they’re in the best of hands. In summary, this was by far, the best show I’ve ever been to. Highly recommend!!!
Playlist was top notch, vocal's were on point, band and background singers killed it, acoustics of the Murat were solid. Overall a great night, not much more can be said. Cant wait to see JJ again.
150 concerts under my belt...Maybe the best live show I've ever seen. Maters of their craft!!!! Great musicianship...Great background vocals!!! Good For The Soul!!!!
JJ was on fire all night. I wish that he would have played Brave Little Fighter
I've been to hundreds of concerts and this was one of my all-time favorites, I will never miss him when he comes to towen!
We went to the recent show at the Taft in Cincinnati on March 23rd. High energy and we could tell he and the band were having a good time too. One of the best live acts on the road today. Well worth it!
The seats were entirely too close together as were the rows. Our knees were pressed into the backs of the seats in front of us and it got more and more uncomfortable the longer we had to sit there! The theatre was nice in other ways but we would never purchase tickets for an event to be held there again. It’s hard to enjoy what you’re seeing and hearing when you are so incredibly uncomfortable the entire time!
OMG...to all that were there you already know!! To the ones whom were not you missed one badass show!! They rocked the house!! It was sooo good!! Absolutely 💯 loved it! He loved it too and it showed!! Thanks JJ & Mofro
JJ Grey is one of those artists that must be seen in person to truly appreciate. He knows how to engage a crowd and is still a gifted vocalist and musician. He surrounds himself with other fantastic artists and remains incredibly humble. His "common man"roots show through in his music, stories and humility. Took my girlfriend for her first JJ Grey & Mofro concert and she said, "I had no idea!"She's still singing his songs around the house. Lol Tickets are still reasonable and the shows are always "buck"😉 Seriously, put JJ on your bucket list and go see him.
The show was great! Really enjoyed the energy! Have seen these guys at least 5 times.
Perhaps the finest musical performance i have ever witnessed. They were so tight and his boice was so powerful, but did not overwhelm the night at all. The band and the backup vocals were near perfection. A truly mind blowing performance. I have seen every big name in the game and these boys were amongst the best ever.
Second time I’ve seen JJ Grey & Mofro, having previously seen them about eight or nine years ago @ the Ohio River Throwdown in Cincinnati. Saturday night @ the Taft, the band had the juiced up crowd ready with a solid 19-song 2-hour-plus set. ‘Orange Blossoms’ mid-set did it for this attendee as JJ did his best court jester imitation leading his tight nine-piece Jacksonville band. Opener Judith Hill might be the best opening act this almost 66-year-old has seen in a long time. Solid show from beginning to end, TM’s mobile tickets - no problem at all!
