  • JJ Grey & Mofro plus MonkeyJunk

by Slymeta on 1/28/12Paradise Rock Club - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

Really great opening band MonkeyJunk was a nice surprise, 3 guys from Canada, bluesy rock, good guitar work. JJ Grey was GREAT!! It was our second time seeing him, great show! The Paradise venue not my favorite. You can get there early and get a good spot but interlopers will shove in (politely mind you) with verbiage like "Excuse me, sorry" and get in front of you. Granted we are tall folks, so I can't really blame the average height people trying to get a better view. If you want to get a drink during the show, you risk losing your spot and having to shove your way back to your party. We opted to only have one beer during the show to avoid the hassle. All in all, minor gripes! You have the opportunity at the Paradise to be close to the band which is great and was our choice, so you put up with the crowd. The real gem is parking only $8 down a side street, and we lucked out with a meter, even better.

JJ Grey and Mofro put on an amazing show! They rocked the house!

  • JJ Grey is a must see show!

by ToyTown on 1/28/12Paradise Rock Club - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Opening act was Monkey Junk and they warmed up the Paradise Rock Club nicely. Tight three piece band that has to be seen to be appreciated. Played about 45 minutes. JJ Grey & MOFRO are the real deal. The Paradise is a small venue (900) and perfect for both the band and the audience to "engage" each other. JJ works the stage with his unassuming low key style for a very intimate experience. MOFRO is a skilled band that is not afraid to let loose. Single set including encore lasted about 2 hours. Catch JJ Grey if he comes your way.

  • Excellent Concert

    by no436 on 1/20/12The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

JJ Grey is always great. Songs with such depth sung with such passion how could you not like it. But this concert was over the top. Great energy, great venue, and an excited crowd. The best concert I have seen.

  • JJ Grey and Mofro brought down the house!!!!!!

    by Sunshine86 on 1/16/12The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

I just found out about these guys like three weeks ago and fell in love. Then I found out they were coming to The Pageant and I knew I had to go. The show was unbelieveable. They played for an hour and 45 minutes without taking a break and their energy never faltered! JJ Grey is full of soul, and the band sounded incredible. I absolutely cannot wait until I get to see them again!!!!

  • Fantastic Show

by FLST on 1/16/12The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

This was a huge and pleasant surprise! Great musicians. Great stage act. Very tight group. I will go see them again in a heartbeat!

  • JJ Grey and the MOFRO was awesome

    by Ashtyn18 on 1/15/12The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

If it was even possible for them to be better than how they sound on their CD, the live version totally lived up to all of my expectations and more. JJ Grey has an awesome voice and great stage presence. The 8 minute sets of musicians playing off of one another was unforgettable and made the experience one of a kind. I have seen quite a few of shows from every type of genre and I am not over exaggerating when I say that this was the best show I have seen, EVER. This was a birthday present for my boyfriend and we have such a good time. I loved the style of the show and the setting was great. It has only been a day and I would go back and watch them all over again.

  • One of the Best

    by JMT111 on 1/15/12The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

These guys put on an amazing show. Everyone on the stage was outstanding, the horn players could almost steal the show. I will make sure to see them again. This was my first show at The Pageant and that venue is outstanding as well. Thanks to all

  • JJ Grey & Mofro rocked it & tore it up!!!

by Bonshe on 1/15/12The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

Opening acts were great. The second act had a great front man, another JJ, & they really got the crowd going. There really was no comparison when JJ Grey & Mofro took the stage. These guys are true musicians, they really highlight the talent in each one of them. I love it when the band sounds even better live. It's so disappointing when you go to a concert & you realize the talent is in the recording & mixing & not the musicians. NOT THE CASE HERE...These guys ROCKED IT OUT & TORE IT UP!!! Best cash we have spent on a concert for sure. We'll be catching them when they come back!

  • Good band, poor venue for their music

by Anonymous on 1/4/12The Ritz Ybor - TampaRating: 3 out of 5

The sound and balance was poor. I really like their cds but the venue/sound didnt do them justice. Would be great to see at an outdoor festival. The keyboard player could d get a little more involved.

  • Sound was horrible - venue too crowded, as usual.

by Bralio on 1/4/12The Ritz Ybor - TampaRating: 3 out of 5

Once again, a poor showing at the Ritz - this is the 2nd of 3 shows there I've been to for Mofro, and will not go again due to the horrid sound. Not sure who's to blame, but I've seen Mofro nearly 25 times, and the ONLY times they've had poor sound is at this venue. Too loud and too tinny. Again. Also, the sell-out number is too high for the venue; you can't maneuver, you have to wait 20 minutes for a drink at any of the bars, it's ridiculous. Lower the headcount to allow those there to enjoy the experience.

  • Amazing

by JJGreyFan on 1/4/12The Ritz Ybor - TampaRating: 5 out of 5

JJ Grey & Mofro was amazing as ALWAYS! I've seen him live many times, and I thought this was a nice small venue to see him in the Tampa area. Standing room only, but that was ok for us since we always stand at their concerts!

  • by D3591 on 1/2/12Variety Playhouse - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

First time for a live performance....this band was excellent.

  • One of my most memorable NYE's!!!

by Anonymous on 1/2/12Variety Playhouse - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

The show was incredible - an unforgettable way to spend New Year's Eve! I loved the extra-long setlist and the overall atmosphere. Loved the venue, too! Extremely friendly staff and very laid-back feel. Totally enjoyed our entire evening!!!

  • by RyanKlesko on 1/2/12Variety Playhouse - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Brought the pain two nights ago at the playhouse, realness oozing, too many geezers, other than that amazing energy

  • by headinsouth on 1/2/12Variety Playhouse - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Good Venue + Good Setlist + Good People = Awesome Show

  • Mofro Great......The Ritz sound system Terrible

by SurfSkiPlay on 1/1/12Ritz - Ybor CityRating: 4 out of 5

Mofro was great......band was on it and rocking.....unfortunately the sound system at the Ritz in Ybor City was terrible. Blown speaker on the left hand side that was unbearable. sound guys had to keep the sound and vocals down so it was disappointing. But the band was great.

  • JJ Grey truly connects with his audience

by CentralFLTumbleweed on 1/1/12The Ritz Ybor - TampaRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first experience seeing him live and am impressed with his ability to connect to the audience. His show was well paced with the type of electricity you would find in a high end performer. I will see him again the next opportunity. I am now a great fan.

  • Best live bands!

    by Rayfan11 on 1/1/12The Ritz Ybor - TampaRating: 5 out of 5

If you like music that gets you at the core of your soul, then make sure you see this band before you die. You cannot bottle this kind of energy. If you could, you'd be a millionaire!

  • by Anonymous on 1/1/12The Ritz Ybor - TampaRating: 5 out of 5

Great sold out Show!!! Definitly recommend this concert to all my friends!
