    The Gators at MGS!

by 215gatorgirl on 12/20/13Madison Square Garden - New York

Had a great time! This was my first time back to MSG since they completed renovations. The Garden looks amazing! The staff were very friendly and tolerant of us "Rowdy Reptiles". I would definitely go again.

JIMMY V CLASSIC: great basketball,,,great cause!

by GLENNBRONX on 12/20/13Madison Square Garden - New York

The Garden was only @1/2 full for the opener...Cincy v. Pitt but nearly 2/3rd full for the Florida v. Memphis game. At age 50, this was my FIRST NCAA game/s.

    Go Bearcats Go!

by UncleDerek on 12/20/13Madison Square Garden - New York

I bought ten tickets to support my nephew. He is a freshman. I've seen him play on tv, this is my first time seeing him play live. I brought my family. It was great we rode a roller coaster of emotions as the lead changed. He won and we saw him after tok picks and congratulated him for his success. We saw Liberty player Essence Carson #17 Guard/Forward. She was friendly and my daughter and nieces are going to attend a few games. Ps Thank you Jared Jefferies , I'm a big knick fan!

Emotional but fulfilling, exciting but sad. The games were very competitive but the cause was better!!!!. I hope to go back year after year.

Good seats, but are there too many rules at MSG?

by GatorFan2013 on 12/20/13Madison Square Garden - New York

The no running on the court rule is a good rule. I applaud it. The no firearms allowed inside rule is a good rule. Thank you MSG for stepping up your security. I appreciate it. But I'm wondering why you told me that I couldn't bring Kosher food inside the arena, if you didn't plan on serving kosher food that evening? Rules are fine, and I'm happy to comply, but in this case, your rule served no purpose. I'm not buying non kosher food, simply because that is all you have. I'm going to wait until the game is over. You want to get me for $7 a soda, or $10.50 a beer, find a me. But I can't make exceptions with food. Not because you have a "policy". When I spoke with guest services, I was told to reach out to Mrs.Berner. I'm curious to see if she reads this post, and if she is at all interested in changing the Garden's policy, or at least in this case, changing it so that it at the very least makes sense.

Jimmy V Classic was, well, classic!

by SEP12 on 12/6/12Madison Square Garden - New York

Great time. The first game was a little lame, but that was okay. The second game, UConn vs. N.C. State was fantastic.

    Great Event

by WolfpackFan70 on 12/6/12Madison Square Garden - New York

This event is done first class. It is totally dedicated to the memory of Coach V and the program started by he and ESPN to fight cancer. Great location and great teams for a great cause.

A high school game would have been better. We walked out before the first game was over.

Great fun for a great cause.

by HOYA1982 on 12/6/12Madison Square Garden - New York

Excellent college basketball doubleheader with proceeds going to a worthy cause, the battle vs Cancer. As a cancer survivor, this resonates with me. Plus, it was great to see my alma mater Georgetown play and win while watching rival UConn lose in the second game vs Jimmy V''s old school.

    Event needs help, bad!!!

by JIMMYVFAN on 12/8/11Madison Square Garden - New York

Let me begin by stating that I am an NC State graduate (Class of 1986). Needless to say Jimmy V holds a special part of my heart. In the Spring of my freshman year the team led by Jim Valvano went on a pretty special ride in the NCAA Tournament as I am sure most all reading this may be aware culminating in a very improbable National Championship. I live in New York now and every year I make a point to attend the Jimmy V Classic at MSG since its inception many years ago. The last couple of years the attendance figures at the games (doubleheader) have gotten ridiculously smaller and smaller, to the point this year of it being pretty disgraceful. I am not sure who is in charge of scheduling the participants in this tournament, but whoever it is they need to take notice if they haven't already done so!!! This year the four schools were University of Missouri, Villanova, University of Washington, and Marquette. On the surface, all four of these programs are decent basketball programs. With two Big East schools involved, Villanova and Marquette, I would have thought they would have a decent fan base at the game. Apparently, I was wrong! The Garden was empty! They need to bring some teams back to this tournament that will fill the arena! Attendence was a joke for this tournament recognizing Jimmy V and a very worthy charity, the V Foundation.

    Jimmy V Classic

by PGeekie on 12/8/11Madison Square Garden - New York

There were two very good basketball games featuring 4 solid Division I schools. So from an event standpoint, it was fine. The atmosphere was a bit weak, mostly because of the small crowd which became even smaller after the first game when most of the Villanova fans chose to leave and that being the closest to a local school, it had the largest fan representation. This made the incessant piped in music all the more intolerable. Also, there were way too many long time outs which dragged out the evening so that the last game did not conclude until shortly before 12AM. I suspect that ESPN commercials added to the duration of time outs. First game should start at 6:15PM which at least would assure ending closer to 11 and allows for people traveling from outside Manhattan the time to get home at a reasonable hour. The partially renovated Garden is nicer (grime has not had time to sink it). Food options are better, but lines appeared very long. Ticket prices were about 20% too high

    Jimmy V wins again

by Anonymous on 12/12/10Madison Square Garden - New York

Four good teams again with a sellout crowd this year. Kansas always travels well and the 'cuse. Well, it's NYC, they always show up at the garden. On top of everything it's for a great cause. Let's get WVU in it next year!
