Jimmy Buffett on Tour

Jimmy Buffett is the tropical musician, songwriter and author known for "Margaritaville." Core groups of devoted fans known as Parrotheads follow him religiously. Jimmy's live concerts are soul-satisfying events, with many performed for charity. Jimmy, along with Toby Keith and Kenny Chesney, played a benefit concert for hurricane victims in Florida on November 19, 2017. Jimmy Buffett's biggest hits are "Margaritaville," "Changes in Latitude" and "Come Monday." Aside from his music, he is the author of three New York Times bestselling novels and a serial businessman with a large chain of restaurants, as well as minor league baseball teams, hotels and casinos, and officially licensed products of many types. In 2003, he won an award from the Academy of Country Music for his duet with Alan Jackson on "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere." Of his more than 30 albums released, eight are Gold and nine are Platinum or Multi-Platinum albums.

Jimmy Buffett in Concert

Jimmy Buffett Background Jimmy Buffett was born on Christmas Day, 1946 in Pascagoula, Mississippi and raised in Mobile, Alabama, getting involved in the band at a young age and picking up the guitar during college. Influenced by his grandfather, who was a sailor, and by country music while working for Billboard Magazine in Nashville, Jimmy tried to break into music in Nashville, but his sound did not mesh with the brand of country music popular in the 1970s. Jimmy then went to Key West and found his calling: good-time island music sometimes called "gulf and western." Jimmy honed his easygoing beach bum persona playing for drinks at the Chart Room Bar in Key West's Pier House Motel. When Jim Croce died unexpectedly in 1973, ABC/Dunhill Records called Jimmy to fill the void. He released albums regularly: 1973's A White Sport Coat and a Pink Crustacean; two in 1974, Living & Dying in 3/4 Time and A1A; followed by Havana Daydreamin' in 1976. His breakout album was 1977's Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes, which included the hit song "Margaritaville." Today, Jimmy is a major influence in both music and philanthropy. He often performs high-value benefit concerts for victims of natural disasters. Buffet was a Blast!

Despite cool temps and some late rain, this concert was unforgettable. Jimmy never disappoints, I only wish I was back in Margaritaville!

The atmosphere was outstanding. The show was fast paced, fun, and entertaining. I will continue to go as long as I can and/or as long as Jimmy keeps playing!

Jimmy is one of us and you have to love him

by CaptianTonysGhost on 8/30/09Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East Troy

Buffett always knows what makes for a great show because he is as much of a fan of us as we are of him. It is a relationship that just can't be explained but must be experienced. Liked having a campfire with your close friends and he is just making the music for the night. He is honest and himself, just what the average Jane and Joe need in a great night out.

    Jimmy Never Disappoints

by Tosan on 8/30/09Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East Troy

Jimmy's concerts are always a party. Even with a constant rain and 50 degree temperature, the crowd was dancing and singing. If you've never been to a Buffett concert, you are missing a great time.

Fabulous show! Band was tight, but the weather wasn't beautiful. Excellant year after year.

Buffett still one of the best.

by AV8R on 8/30/09Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East Troy

Year after year, Buffett is a blast. This year the music was better than last year when he had too many guest numbers. Last night only one song by someone other than Jimmy, all Buffett all night. Weather sucked, can't do anything about that. We make our own fun, then hope the artist keeps up his end of the deal. Buffett delivers. I think he really enjoys Alpine, I've never seen him anywhere else, but others that have say he seems to be into the crowd a little more here. Alpine is a good venue, even in the drizzle.

    Jimmy is Awesome

by ojforlife on 8/30/09Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East Troy

The Jimmy concert was great, we had an RV, definite way to go. This was all of our firsts times to this concert and already started planning next year! People watching here is awesome, watching everyone get smashed and the costumes and the games and entertainment people set up is great. The only downfall to the day was of course the weather, it was less to be desired, 50's with misting rain in late August? Sucked, but what do you expect...its Wisconsin.

Cold and Wet Buffet Alpine Show

by dls1219 on 8/30/09Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East Troy

Good show, where young and old alike come to party. This night the weather was miserable, but most did not notice, because they started partying earlier in the parking lot. Was a wee bit wet and chilly, so the fans seemed more mellow, not as crazy as I have seen at some of his shows. Spotted Elvis dancing with some hula girls on the lawn. Would go see Jimmy again in a heartbeat.

    First Time Fabulous!

by finickyfan on 8/30/09Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East Troy

Can't believe I was missing out on this event until now!! What an experience - not only Jimmy and the band, but to see all the loyal Parrotheads at their best, even in the miserable atypical cold & rain we had last night!!

    Buffett+Alpine Valley=FUN!

by jwhelp1 on 8/30/09Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East Troy

Alpine Valley is easily the best place in the Chicago area to see a large concert. Tailgating for Buffett here is something to look forward to every year. The show is always fun, too.

Got the job done -- not the best

by finhead on 8/30/09Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East Troy

Playlist was disappointed. Played a few unfamiliar songs. Second half dragged on and didn't build to a frenzy! Encore songs were a disappointment. Show lacked energy.

    Jimmy Buffet

by PartyShack on 8/30/09Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East Troy

Great fun, including the pre-concert activities in the parking lot. Appreciated that he took a short break, due to the cold and rain, but that sure didn't dampen the spirit of the band or crowd. Was a great way to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. Just wish that you could get out of the parking lot faster. We opted to rest for about 1 hour and 45 minutes, until the cars were finally moving.

    Buffett at Alpine Valley

by Jazz7 on 8/30/09Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East Troy

Seating information inadequate at best. Only every few seats, in the reserve section, are numbered on the bottom. There was a lot of confusion finding seats, especially once the lights went down. Weather was also extremely uncooperative. However, as always, Jimmy put on a great show & gave all the fans what they weathered the elements for.

    Buffett still da Man

by agingbeachbabe on 8/30/09Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East Troy

What can you say about Jimmy? He still jumps all over the stage with a huge grin that never leaves his face for a second. He electrifies the parrot head faithful and brings us together in a way that leaves us on a high for a week. Last night 35,000 of us closed the concert at Alpine Valley by belting out "Yellow Submarine" with Jimmy at the top of our lungs...in the pouring rain! And no one left early - we were soaked but having a blast. On the way out there were soggy hugs and high fives to everyone around - we're all friends at a Buffett event. Finz up Forever!

by Desdumona on 8/30/09Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East Troy

When Jimmy comes to Wisconsin, everything is okay again. We may not have tropical beaches, palm trees, and dolphins jumping into the sunset, but - just for that one night - we BELIEVE we do! Fantastic concert, happy people... pleeeeease let him come back next year!

    Jimmy Buffett/Alpine Valley

by MrsKho on 8/30/09Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East Troy

Even through rain and cold temperatures, Jimmy and the Coral Reefers stayed true to form as did the Parrot Heads. I've seen Jimmy several times over the years and he never fails to give the crowd exactly what they came for. Lot's of fun and the feeling they're partying right with him in Key West or whereever his journeys take him.
