Jimmy Buffett on Tour

Jimmy Buffett is the tropical musician, songwriter and author known for "Margaritaville." Core groups of devoted fans known as Parrotheads follow him religiously. Jimmy's live concerts are soul-satisfying events, with many performed for charity. Jimmy, along with Toby Keith and Kenny Chesney, played a benefit concert for hurricane victims in Florida on November 19, 2017. Jimmy Buffett's biggest hits are "Margaritaville," "Changes in Latitude" and "Come Monday." Aside from his music, he is the author of three New York Times bestselling novels and a serial businessman with a large chain of restaurants, as well as minor league baseball teams, hotels and casinos, and officially licensed products of many types. In 2003, he won an award from the Academy of Country Music for his duet with Alan Jackson on "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere." Of his more than 30 albums released, eight are Gold and nine are Platinum or Multi-Platinum albums.

Jimmy Buffett in Concert

Jimmy Buffett Background Jimmy Buffett was born on Christmas Day, 1946 in Pascagoula, Mississippi and raised in Mobile, Alabama, getting involved in the band at a young age and picking up the guitar during college. Influenced by his grandfather, who was a sailor, and by country music while working for Billboard Magazine in Nashville, Jimmy tried to break into music in Nashville, but his sound did not mesh with the brand of country music popular in the 1970s. Jimmy then went to Key West and found his calling: good-time island music sometimes called "gulf and western." Jimmy honed his easygoing beach bum persona playing for drinks at the Chart Room Bar in Key West's Pier House Motel. When Jim Croce died unexpectedly in 1973, ABC/Dunhill Records called Jimmy to fill the void. He released albums regularly: 1973's A White Sport Coat and a Pink Crustacean; two in 1974, Living & Dying in 3/4 Time and A1A; followed by Havana Daydreamin' in 1976. His breakout album was 1977's Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes, which included the hit song "Margaritaville." Today, Jimmy is a major influence in both music and philanthropy. He often performs high-value benefit concerts for victims of natural disasters. A typical Buffett Party!

by GBbucky on 8/30/09Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East Troy

Concert was not as good as in the past. Started slow, but picked up in the middle. No pencil thin mustache this year. Rough weather. Sounds like there might be some good stuff on the new album. Still fun with friends old and new. A person has to have a problem if they go to a Buffett Concert and don't have a good time!

by Hillywisconsin on 8/30/09Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East Troy

The show was great, a couple of deep cuts, a couple of new songs, lots of the classics! The cold weather and rain could not put a damper on this show!

    For the 12th time...Spectacular!!!!!!!!!

by andydome on 8/30/09Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East Troy

Jimmy is spectacular. Many may say that it's just a dr unkfest, but it's much more than that. It's the opportunity for an entire family to get together and just have stupid fun. For days before the concert, we e-mail and exchange jabs, all in preparation for the three days we will spend together. After the concert, we have super material that we talk about for the entire upcoming year. A Buffett Concert is all about being with family and just letting go! We always head to where the weather suits our cloths.

While the music was enjoyable. I have never seen so many drunk and rude concert attendees. It was not a pleasant experience.

by islandgirl79 on 8/30/09Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East Troy

Despite the rain and the cold temps, Jimmy brought summer to Alpine Valley. It was worth the 6 hour drive, the cold temps, rain and the impending cold.... Thank you Jimmy!!!

    Singin' in the rain

by TheBigKahuna on 8/30/09Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East Troy

Jimmy in the cold and wet is better than anyone else in the warm and dry. Do wish Wisconsin would get with the rest of the states and ban smoking in public places. Got my money's worth with the music. The beer? That's another matter.

Weather was crap, wish the people were beautiful

by strikout on 8/30/09Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East Troy

Jimmy seemed to rush through the set because it was such horrible weather. The band looked miserable. The morons in the lawn were even more drunk and miserable than usual, and I didn't even sit in the lawn.

    Margaritaville-tastic!!

by HulaGirlatHeart on 8/30/09Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East Troy

Ignoring the weather, the concert was AWESOME. The set list was the perfect mix of classics, covers, lesser known Buffett, and new songs. He was chatty with the crowd in between songs and did well at introducing them and talking without it seeming forced or going on too long. There was one break, which was literally 5 minutes. The sound was perfectly done as well. This was my first Buffett show and I CANNOT WAIT till next summer to go again.

    Seemed a Step Behind

by TinCupChalice on 8/30/09Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East Troy

The weather was cold and wet, which you cannot control (although, Jimmy: let's shoot for earlier next year!) but it seemed like JB & CRB wasn't as into the show as in previous years. Seemed a bit like they were "phoning it in"--plus, seemed like the crowd was a bit more tipsy and a bit more ignorant than in previous years. Wasn't bad--but here's hoping next year is better!
