Jimmy Buffett on Tour

Jimmy Buffett is the tropical musician, songwriter and author known for "Margaritaville." Core groups of devoted fans known as Parrotheads follow him religiously. Jimmy's live concerts are soul-satisfying events, with many performed for charity. Jimmy, along with Toby Keith and Kenny Chesney, played a benefit concert for hurricane victims in Florida on November 19, 2017. Jimmy Buffett's biggest hits are "Margaritaville," "Changes in Latitude" and "Come Monday." Aside from his music, he is the author of three New York Times bestselling novels and a serial businessman with a large chain of restaurants, as well as minor league baseball teams, hotels and casinos, and officially licensed products of many types. In 2003, he won an award from the Academy of Country Music for his duet with Alan Jackson on "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere." Of his more than 30 albums released, eight are Gold and nine are Platinum or Multi-Platinum albums.

Jimmy Buffett in Concert

Jimmy Buffett Background Jimmy Buffett was born on Christmas Day, 1946 in Pascagoula, Mississippi and raised in Mobile, Alabama, getting involved in the band at a young age and picking up the guitar during college. Influenced by his grandfather, who was a sailor, and by country music while working for Billboard Magazine in Nashville, Jimmy tried to break into music in Nashville, but his sound did not mesh with the brand of country music popular in the 1970s. Jimmy then went to Key West and found his calling: good-time island music sometimes called "gulf and western." Jimmy honed his easygoing beach bum persona playing for drinks at the Chart Room Bar in Key West's Pier House Motel. When Jim Croce died unexpectedly in 1973, ABC/Dunhill Records called Jimmy to fill the void. He released albums regularly: 1973's A White Sport Coat and a Pink Crustacean; two in 1974, Living & Dying in 3/4 Time and A1A; followed by Havana Daydreamin' in 1976. His breakout album was 1977's Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes, which included the hit song "Margaritaville." Today, Jimmy is a major influence in both music and philanthropy. He often performs high-value benefit concerts for victims of natural disasters. Really good 1st show at Snapdragon Stadium!

by OnionHead on 5/9/23Snapdragon Stadium - San Diego

What a great stadium!!! Sound was crystal clear. Perfect size. Parking is a bit pricey - so try to take a Lyft of the Trolley. Rock on.

    Jimmy Buffett rocks San Diego!

by David S. on 5/9/23Snapdragon Stadium - San Diego

One of the best shows I have ever seen. Jimmy played the hits and joked between songs with band mates and the crowd. The music was clear and crisp, and the video backdrop was fantastic. Jimmy & the Coral Reefers are a must see!

    Performances great; venue very disappointing

by San Diegan on 5/9/23Snapdragon Stadium - San Diego

The performances by Jason Mraz and Jimmy Buffet were terrific. However, Snap Dragon stadium's system for entering and exiting the stadium, using bathroom facilities, getting food, etc. was truly horrendous. They had only 1 person checking tickets for people who had field level tickets resulting in it taking almost an hour to get through the process. After getting through the gate you needed to go through yet another disorganized line to get wristbands. They limited which aisles you could use to get to and from the field and the sections, rows and seats were not clearly marked. There were literally hundreds of people on lines to get to the bathrooms between performances and the many of the aisles to access seats only were wide enough for one way traffic. The seat placements on the sides of the field had no real line of vision for the performance so it was more like watching a concert by video on the big screen.

    It’s not a concert. It’s a party.

by Jimmy Wows em again on 5/9/23Snapdragon Stadium - San Diego

I’ve been to Jimmy Buffett concerts before but not in San Diego and not like this one. He must have a love affair with San Diego because not only did he kill it on the concert side by engaging and talking with the crowd and his band members and the videos that he brought into the concert with some of his past history and everything San Diego has to offer was incredible. He included a tailgating prior to the concert video that I still don’t understand how they put it together so fast. Concerts can include all the pyrotechnics they want, but I’ll take these heartfelt homegrown videos any day. It was true entertainment and I feel like everyone felt like they were part of the show and included. I love all the beach balls, typical for a Buffett concert, and even though they’ll doink you in the back of the head from time to time, they add to the ambience. A great, great time and he’ll be missed if this is a farewell. Oh, and Mac Macanally who appeared before and with Buffett is a guy to check out. He can play one hell of a guitar and has a good ol Mississippi man’s voice. I would love to see him in a full blown concert.

    Boats,Bars and Burgers

by Bill on 5/9/23Snapdragon Stadium - San Diego

The show is amazing. 28,000 karaoke fan singing along. The only drawback is it’s a new stadium and they didn’t have any Porta potty‘s down on the floor level for anybody and it was only one or two I always to actually make it back up to the 100 level to find a restroom or get food product.

    Bad experience made right

by Harry on 5/9/23Snapdragon Stadium - San Diego

When I originally bought the tickets for section 138, there was no mention of a limited view. The day of the show my ticket said limited view. The seats turned out to be a completely obstructed view. They expected me to watch the concert from a video board anyways, the snap dragon staff ended up upgrading my seats to the four and we have an amazing time and view

    Needs Improvement.

by CaliLonghorn on 5/9/23Snapdragon Stadium - San Diego

I had floor seats at the concert. There were no bathrooms on that level. The only beer was Michelob ultra. Need better bathroom accommodations and more beer selection on floor level. The only floor access was by flag poles. Need better access choke points. Saw people going over seats to get to floor past security.

    Sound latency

by Reesa on 5/9/23Snapdragon Stadium - San Diego

I was sitting on the side between stage speakers and back speakers and there was latency in the sound between the two sets of speakers. The seats were fine and easy to get to find.

    Jimmy Buffett Rocked Snapdragon

by Eddie M on 5/9/23Snapdragon Stadium - San Diego

Jimmy Buffett at 76 showed no signs of slowing down as he delivered the hits to his rabid parrotheads and land sharks fans at a near sellout at SDSU'S new Snapdragon Stadium.

Jimmy & The Coral Reefers were Fabulous

by Rugger1 on 5/9/23Snapdragon Stadium - San Diego

First concert at Snapdragon! The venue was well staffed and all parties did a great job. The floor seat rows were too close together. it was difficult getting past people going in or out of your row. Parking was well orchestrated on arrival and as usual, leaving an event, people were not courteous. Mac was absolutely amazing opening the show, his talent is legendary. Jason Maraz and his band put on a great set. Unfortunately their sound engineer made it almost unbearable to listen to due to his mix of the Drummer’s bass drum. It was so overpowering it hurt your chest to be anywhere close to mid stadium…I had to go to the back to get any relief. The sonic attack was nauseating. Jimmy was gracious opening the show and introducing Mac and Maraz. He and his Coral Reefers were tight and the sound was mixed well. He did all his standards and a great time was had by all.

    Bucket list concert

by TerryC on 5/9/23Snapdragon Stadium - San Diego

Jimmy Buffett is a classic and every fan knows all the words to his music. He didn’t disappoint. This is my third time seeing him within a 40 year period. He sings all the favorites and is a likeable guy. He promotes a laid back parrot head lifestyle which people love to mimic. Parking lot was a lot of fun..shark fins, cheeseburgers, parrot hats and palm trees were abundant!

    Floor not worth it

by Tdog on 5/9/23Snapdragon Stadium - San Diego

If you go to a concert at this venue, I would recommend NOT getting floor seats. The restrooms are on the concourse. There’s only one concourse, so you have to walk up and down a huge flight of stairs everytime you want to go. Plus the lines are huge. They need to improve services on the lower level. It’s not built for spectators. The concert itself was good. Jimmy still sounds great. The sound and sight lines were good.

    Great concert - terrible seats!!

    by L. C. on 5/9/23Snapdragon Stadium - San Diego

Just attended my first concert at Snapdragon stadium. Was JB great? Yes! Were the seats great? NO! We sat in section 141, rows 19 and 20 (8 seats total). The view to the stage was obstructed by the speaker tower, ruining what should have been a great experience. So disappointed in both Ticketmaster and Snapdragon Stadium.

    I've Seen Better Shows...

by Jeff on 5/9/23Snapdragon Stadium - San Diego

I know this was one of the last shows of the tour, and it was a make-up concert at a new venue, but it wasn't the memorable show I have always gotten. Jimmy sang for 1.5 hours, and did a token number of his bigger hits, with some notable titles missing. The energy was not what it usually is; this was my daughters first Buffett show, and I don't think it was enough to bring her back :(
