Jewel in Concert
Jewel is the rare artist who can mesmerize audiences with just an acoustic guitar and her voice. Not only is the Grammy-nominated songwriter a masterful storyteller, but she's also an expressive singer who takes a variety of approaches — raspy whispers, a powerful warble, and even a signature, awe-inspiring yodel — to convey the emotion within her folk, pop, and country tunes. Still, Jewel's 2018 Handmade Holiday Tour, a seasonal song-filled show with a pre-concert chance to make gifts, is a veritable family affair. As with the 2017 iteration of the festive jaunt, special guests include her dad, Atz (who also stars on the reality show ‘Alaska: The Last Frontier') and brothers Atz Lee and Nikos Kilcher.
About Jewel
Jewel Kilcher was brought up on a farm in rural Alaska, but started playing music from a very young age. As a child, she performed with her father, touring a circuit of hotels and bars; later, as a teenager, she studied operatic voice at Michigan's Interlochen Arts Academy. However, Jewel's career breakthrough came in early 1990s San Diego: Discovered while living in her van and playing coffeehouses, she landed a major-label record deal and released 1995's multi-platinum ‘Pieces of You,' an insightful folk-pop collection that spawned two Billboard Hot 100 No. 2 hits, "You Were Meant for Me" and "Foolish Games," and the haunting meditation "Who Will Save Your Soul." In subsequent years, Jewel expanded her fanbase by dabbling in both mainstream pop (the slinky single "Intuition" peaked at No. 20 on the Billboard Hot 100) and country. But in a testament to her formidable talents, she also became a successful author — her 1999 poetry collection ‘A Night Without Armor' landed on the New York Times' best-seller list — and launched an acting career. Most notably, she portrayed June Carter Cash in the 2013 TV movie ‘Ring of Fire.'
A fabulous evening with Jewel in a most intimate setting in Saratoga. Jewel was playing an all acoustic solo concert where she was able to let her hair down, joke and tell stories and have a very nice and relaxed time. It was like visiting an old friend. See her while you can!
The Jewel concert at Villa Montalvo was the best concert I've ever been to. The Garden Theatre is beautiful and the show Jewel put on was fantastic. She is an incredible performer and gave me more than I possibly expected.
Jewel was fabulous (as usual). Her voice is amazing and Montalvo the perfect setting. I'm never disappointed going to a jewel concert! Thank you Jewel for a terrific evening!

Have wanted to see Jewell for a long time and she way surpassed my expectations. She shares so much of herself, her life story making for a very personal and intimate evening. Her range is wonderful. She loves her audience, listens to their requests and it feels like a very spontaneous evening from start to finish. Villa Montalvo is a most perfect venue. Lovely to see an artist in these beautiful, open, intimate settings.
The show was awesome from beginning to end, once Jewel took the stage. I have followed Jewel for years and this was my first time seeing her at a live show. It was all I knew it would be. Her stories were very entertaining and of course her singing was out of this world! She sings like an angel and a rock star and a pop star and country star. Hummmmmm, pretty much nothing she can't do. The Montalvo Art Center is beautiful. The weather was perfect. The only problem we had was trying to find the shuttle bus at the college. There was nothing marked and we ran into several people who were having the same problem. I would definitely go back to see another show there now that I know where to catch the shuttle.
Jewel is the most underated artist you will ever see. A truly amazing vocalist!
Jewel has a beautiful voice and a great personality but the concert itself (acoustical) was a little boring.... most of the music I had not heard before and alot of it sounded the same. She did not play her hits until the very end. But her storie s, her personality and the venue had it worthwhile.
I have loved listening to Jewel's music over the last 14 years... but I had no idea of the treat I was in for hearing her live for a complete concert. She is a superb story teller who grabs you and holds your focus with her changing melodies and fabulously real lyrics. I felt like we were the luckiest people on Earth to be hearing her voice at that moment! Do not pass up a chance to hear Jewel live!!!! She is worth every penny.
I have seen Jewel perform a couple of times, once at the Sydney Opera House, and once at the Canberra Theatre, Australia. I had never been to Humphreys by the Bay before and was in awe of the entire concert for 2 hours from the time she appeared with her haunting rendition of Over the Rainbow, through to the encore where she indulged the audience in some yodelling.
This is my FIFTH time...yes I said FIFTH time seeing Jewel. Her music is amazing. Her voice is amazing, and her humbleness is even more incredible. She was wearing the cutest daisy dukes and her legs were in fantastic shape! All her music, new and older was awesome! I can't wait to see her again!
A voice like no other, a sense of humor, lyrics that are fun and sometimes deep, and a venue that can't be beat. What a night!!

A beautiful voice that paints the celebration of life in wonderful melodies. I took my young son and his wife out for dinner and a concert . Jewel was the perfect setting on a great summer evening in San Diego. It would be hard to beat!
Humphreys Concerts By the Bay was the perfect place to see and hear Jewel perform!! She had wonderful energy and her voice was flawless. She talked just enough to make the evening more intimate and to give her audience some background and insight to her songs. And, if you love, being outside, under the stars, by the water, there is no better place to see a concert than Humphreys Concerts By the Bay!!
I have always enjoyed Jewel's music, but wasn't overly excited to go to the concert (took the wife). It turns out that Jewel is very entertaining. She is not only much better live, but also has an interesting background and a good sense of humor. Great show!

This was my forth concert to see Jewel and this was her best yet. She was able to swiftly sweep you into her heart in the first few songs with long anecdotal intimate stories. She connected to the audience by opening her heart and telling us of her journey so that we could relate to the songs in our own journey. She can befriend an audience like no other artist. She is always an inspiration of hope and a ray of light like an angel coming down from Alaska. When she moved from Alaska she was an innocent girl and trust allowed her to see the world how it really was and as she learned about the world she was open enough to allow spirit to flow through her to create this beautiful music. Her faith kept her safe through all the naive times and she is very blessed. During one of her new songs that related to the sacrifice of her grandmother truly shows her gratitude-a tear jerker for sure...To end was a high powered yodel ( should create an amazing cd featuring the yodel) that was truly a crowd pleaser. This concert showed how she really is-I really felt like I got to know her better than ever. Thank you Jewel for just being you and having such gratitude for your journey-it is truly a blessing to know you-even if it is from afar. Keep being an inspiration for all.
Her voice was amazing as always. She has a way of making the audience feel as if they are apart of an intimate group sitting with a friend while they sing. I enjoy the little back stories/thought process to a song. I am never disappointed with the time spent.
My wife and i enjoyed jewel at humphreys. great artist in phenomenal location. we have seen jewel several times and the beautiful setting makes it even better.
