Exploding onto the Mainstage is the groundbreaking theatrical masterpiece Jesus Christ Superstar by legendary writing team Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. This extraordinary rock opera highlights the struggles of Jesus of Nazareth and Judas Iscariot during the last week of Jesus's life. With a vibrant score of chart-topping hits like "Superstar" and "I Don't Know How to Love Him," Superstar is timeless and tremendously powerful.

It was a spectacular, deeply moving event. What a tremendous job everyone did.
The music was flawless, and the show had a 2024 twist. I loved it!
This is the 4th time I have seen a performance, and it was THE best!!
I saw Jesus Christ Super Star when it first came out in the 70s. I have listened to the soundtrack over and over and over through the last 50 years. This play exceeded my expectations. I would love to see it again. A must see!!
I saw the movie in the 70s, have watched it many times & did many road trips listening to the music. I saw the original Jesus & Judas from the movie, Ted Neeley & Carl Anderson in 1992 when they teamed up for the road show. Went twice! I’ve seen three of the remakes. Only disappointment was the tv version with John Legend. Tonight I saw the most current road show & loved it. The music & dancing were great. The only change I found disappointing was the final. Jesus used to go up to the ceiling on the cross, then come out after in white robes. I missed the symbolism. I wish I’d seen this recent production the first day in town so I’d been able to see it again. The artist playing Mary M had a beautiful voice. Great cast. The play was 90 mins. Beware there is no intermission. I highly recommend this play
I thought this was an amazing show with a strong cast.
The singing, music and dancing was excellent! The stage set was very cool! We thoroughly enjoyed it! Didn’t seem to be a bad seat in the house! We thought it was well worth the money and the effort to get there!
One of my favorite musicals!! A little hard to understand all the words in this venue.
Jesus Christ Superstar did not disappoint. The singing and dancing were excellent. The story so moving. Don’t miss it!!!
We came from out of town to see this show, and were very excited. But we were so disappointed that the music was too loud. It was so loud we could not hear the words to any of the songs, which made it harder to follow along the story. And the sound quality was poor as well, with frequent squeaks and lapses in the mics. We left at intermission, very bummed.
Love this musical, so I was very anxious to see this performance. The orchestra was great as was the singing. However I was very disappointed in the sound system. It seemed to cut out quite a bit. This was only my second time to see a show at the Maryland Theater and the first show I went to also had sound issues. I will try again but it is annoying!
I suppose listening to Ian Gillan and Murray Head spoiled me for anything else. I felt badly for actor portraying Jesus, he seemed to be ill and coughing often. I'm not in theatre but felt the understudy should have been called up. It was painful to watch him. Some problems with microphones, which could be shocking to the ear. Mary Magdalene was very good, so was Herod. But, you have to admit, Herod has the best act. Theatee is lovely, staff very friendly and helpful. Glad I went but I really expected more.
Really enjoyed ourselves at Jesus Christ Superstar. The cast were all fantastic and the theater is wonderful. Can't wait to return for the next production or concert.
The first half of the play, you cannot make out the words and something kept cracking. A sound system. The second half was very good, and we could actually understand what they were saying, and singing.
Nice theatre, definately a neighborhood performance. We were expecting professional per the website. Lots of static in sound also. Sorry, last time Bee Gees wete top notch.
It was very loud and not what I expected. Hardly No prop changes, no costume changes.. Details were changed.
Recommend much better than I expected from a local cast.
I definitely enjoyed this performance. Amazing vocals. Extremely good value for the ticket price...wish more opportunities such as this would become more frequent.
First off, I thought the cast and musicians of Jesus Christ Superstar were beyond amazing! Having said that and without whining too much about a really GREAT show, there were two things that disappointed me. The costumes were very well done - however - with the exception of Herod & troupe, I don't think they were quite in sync with the original intent of this irreverent 70s show. My second disappointment was my pre-conceived notion of the ending. I saw this show nearly 20 years ago at TPAC, and when Jesus came out for a bow at the end, he arose from a lift center stage with a white flowing robe and the spotlights on him. It was heart-stopping! I wish there was a 4.5 star rating. Part of my reason for only 4 stars would be due to the lack of parking anywhere around TPAC and not the show itself.
