Jesus Christ Superstar (Chicago) Tickets

The band was fantastic. The choreography was wonderful. We attend many musicals and plays. Our biggest issue was that, with the exception of Jesus and Mary, we could not understand what the others were singing. Both my husband and I talked about this afterward. It was very disappointing. We have seen this before many years ago and, of course, we know the story, but we could not possibly follow.

If I love anything I love a musical. I had no idea what was going on. I didn’t understand any lyrics. It literally was the worst show I have ever seen. I don’t mean to come across this way but I would not recommend this show to anyone.

I can’t even begin to give this entire production and cast enough praise. They are all absolutely dripping with talent. I have seen countless theatrical productions in my life (including several of Jesus Christ Superstar) and this is hands down one of the BEST! BRAVO to all those involved!

What a fantastic staging of a timeless story. I've seen this production a number of times. There were so many aspects that stood out to me during this show - the lighting was incredible, the voices incomparable. The performance given during the prayer of Gethsemane was in the top 5 most effective and poignant solo numbers I've witnessed in my life. Incredibly effective, purposefully disturbing, and leaving the viewer feeling different than when they entered the theatre to witness the unjust and cruel capriciousness of human nature.

An outstanding cast joined with fabulous choreography and clever high tech special effects to create the best revival of a Broadway show in Chicago this year. The actor who portrayed Christ was mesmerizing with a voice that had an incredible range. It would have been a tragedy to have missed this surprising update.

Strong performances by all. I’ve seen Jesus Christ Superstar live nearly all of the 50 years. These new renditions of the actual music and some of the spoken words is just ok. The same with the set. No reflection on the actors/dancers/singers. They had nothing to do with the changes.,They put it all out there in terrific form and voice. The dance moves are amazing. The message to me gets a little lost with confetti and glitter. The music being belted out also is a bit much. Might be time to watch the dvd and save the money.

This was without a doubt the BEST live performance I have ever been to in my life and has easily moved this musical up to my all time favorite!! Everything about the performance was electrifying from start to finish and had me on the edge of my seat! I went into it already an avid fan of the show, but seeing it performed live in such a captivating way was life changing and I’ll never stop thinking about this production. Every person in the cast and crew is a SUPERSTAR!!!

A contemporary twist to this epic musical was very enjoyable. The Weber-Rice genius musical has only gotten better with age. The touring group are all outstanding performers. Couldn’t have enjoyed it more short of being a cast member ! Hard to believe it is 50 years old and I can remember when it debuted.

I’ve been seeing JCS since the first year. This was the second to the worst interpretation I’ve seen. The instruments, the microphones, the crucifixion on a speaker stand, the glitter bombs and, of course viewing the upside down cross as a stage prop were just some of the ridiculous things about this rendition. I was so disappointed. I do not recommend if you’re a JCS fan.

Great memories from the past with a slight modern twist. Music as good as ever

I absolutely love the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar but this production lacked passion and the actors playing the two major rolls of Jesus & Judas simply didn’t have powerful enough voices to carry their respective rolls particularly the actor portraying Jesus, no voice and no passion for the part. I loved the music but no the voices. And why did the actors carry microphones?

What an energetic performance! Music was fantastic and actor were amazing Especially loved Mary's voice. Brought me back to high school when i saw original movie.

Have loved Superstar since the early 70's when I was a teen. This was outstanding!!!

We were in production company in 1972! And never tire of new renditions!! Thoroughly enjoyed this one!! So many memories!
