    Good but.........

by Kayci on 8/2/22Cadillac Palace - Chicago

I actually enjoyed the show. It was difficult for me to not compare it to the memories of the original show, seen multiple times 50 years ago. The performer who played Judas, Sandy Reed, was amazing. As far as I'm concerned, she was by far the strongest performer overall. Other key performers were OK. A couple who stood out were Tommy Sherlock as Pilate and Paul Louis Lessard as Herod. Costuming and dance made the show more relevant to younger audiences. What I actually hated was the "glitter" used to denote the lashing of Christ before the crucifiction. Glitter? Is the audience 13 year old girls? That along with the metallic confetti was nothing more than an overused distraction.

    Not great

by RJT on 8/2/22Cadillac Palace - Chicago

I’ve seen this years ago and loved it. Easy to follow and loved the music. Even had the album and played it all the time. This was very hard to follow and the music was a lot of yelling and screeching and hard to even recognize most songs. I was very disappointed.

It was hard to understand lyrics. Very disappointing

by Green on 8/2/22Cadillac Palace - Chicago

Talented musical singers but it was very hard to understand lyrics. Story had many flaws which can miss lead the truth. Musical did not cover resserection of Jesus Chris so title of the musical was very inappropriate.

    Outstanding!

by SB on 8/1/22Cadillac Palace - Chicago

It was great! The vocals were on point and Jesus' voice, especially those Ian Gillian-esqe screams, were amazing. Characters were great, choreography was compelling. Great show, great night!

    Great

by Happy Guy on 8/1/22Cadillac Palace - Chicago

When I saw the show Pepe Nufrio was playing Judas and his singing is just amazing! I don't normally look up cast members names - but wow. The entire show I liked and the other singers are great also. Mary M., Jesus and the priests trio great, one of them had this awesome super deep voice and others... The staging, lighting and movement & the cast really delivered. It was a fast paced show.

    Sorry

    by D. D. on 7/31/22Cadillac Palace - Chicago

We had orchestra level seats toward the rear - Row T We could hear almost none of the lyrics. They were almost all indecipherable. The audio, to be honest, was simply poor. Without good audio, an otherwise spectacular production is sort of a waste.

    One of the Better Performances!

by Roy Rodgers on 7/30/22Cadillac Palace - Chicago

I am a BIG fan of Jesus Christ Superstar. Although we’ve lost count, my wife and I have attended nearly every local performance held in Chicago and Milwaukee that we could attend. We even had the opportunity to see (an old!) Ted Neely as Jesus in a production a few years ago! This production stood out though. The vocal range of the actor that played Judas was astounding! And, although there have been other more impressive performances by the actors playing Jesus and Mary Magdalene, these actors should be proud of there talents. We caught this show at the very tail end of its run and there was still electrifying performances across the board!

    Absolutely Fantastic!!!!!!

by Godot on 7/30/22Cadillac Palace - Chicago

This rendition is utterly fantastic. The whole production was flawless. One person sang better than the next. Whoever staged and choreographed it cuffs to you. You gave it a modern refreshing twist

    It was ok

by Sherry on 7/30/22Cadillac Palace - Chicago

I didn't understand the need to make Jesus a musician instead of a carpenter. Also, the girl that kept throwing herself up and down was distracting from the storyline.

5 STARS FOR CAST -- LESS THAN 1 STAR FOR ACOUSTICS & PROPS

    by S. Z. on 7/30/22Cadillac Palace - Chicago

I saw the performance at the Cadillac in Chicago. I've been to many performances at this theatre. The acoustics have never been as bad as they were in this performance. I'm giving this 5-stars for the CAST, as they truly deserve it—the ACOUSTICS and use of PROPS...less than 1 STAR. The cast was over the top FANTASTIC. Their voices were amazing. I feel bad for them as the acoustics and use of props took away from their PHENOMENAL performances. The cast used handheld mics which were distracting, from passing them back and forth to messing with the wires and the topper was Jesus holding the mic between his hands before he was crucified...it if were any other play, it would have been funny...but it took away from the dramatic moment, it was more of a disgrace. The acoustics were terrible. I couldn't understand a word, except when Herod sang and Peter played the guitar and sang with Mary (but then he had the headset mic). This is a musical; I want to see the faces and hear the words. It's not a concert. If you look at the audience's average age, the concert spin on Jesus Christ Superstar was a mistake and a disservice to the actors who performed their hearts out!
