About

Jessie Reyez in Concert

Combining unapologetic lyrics with in-your-face vocals, Toronto-born singer-songwriter Jessie Reyez is one of pop's brashest personalities. Reyez played guitar as a child and realized she was a music writer while in high school. In 2014 she collaborated with Chicago-based MC King Louie on his Canada-saluting track "Living in the Sky." In 2016 she broke through on her own with "Figures," a stark post-breakup track paired with a gripping video that showcased Reyez's raw feeling. "Evoking emotion from people is always a byproduct," Reyez told Genius. "It's not like I aimed to do that, but it's a beautiful byproduct that happens to come from certain songs."

Now, as a recipient of a JUNO award, 2018 Breakthrough Artist of the Year, she could say her subsequent catalog has been an object lesson in releasing that byproduct. Her debut EP, 2017's 'Kiddo,' was steeped in feeling while also showing off her musical range and the delirious "Shutter Island" pairs her yowl with macabre carnival music, while "Great One" shows off her softer side, its plush synths allowing her to luxuriate in existential questions like "What is life? What is love? What is time? What is choice?" The harrowing 'Kiddo' track "Gatekeeper," accompanied by a short film that she cowrote, turned a #MeToo-worthy experience from years ago that almost led to her quitting the music business into an artistic triumph.

While gearing up for the release of her second EP, 'Being Human in Public,' Reyez has kept busy with guest appearances and relentless touring. Her reworking of "Figures," performed with fellow Canadian Daniel Caesar at the 2018 JUNO Awards, added a dramatic twist to the song's heartbroken narrative; her turn as Eminem's foil on the controversial MC's 2018 track "Nice Guy" shows how she can hold her own against music's biggest names; and her performances at festivals like Lollapalooza and Afropunk have electrified huge crowds. Reyez's rise is proof that pure feeling can be a powerful connector.

  • Love Jessie

by jggarcia on 11/21/22The Fillmore Silver Spring - Silver SpringRating: 4 out of 5

Loved the show and she is an amazing performer. The only one bad comment that I have is that you couldn't see her when you were standing in the back and she will sit down. I am not a big fan when artists sit for a whole song and the platform is not high enough.

  • Best concert 2022

by Evan on 11/20/22House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

Jessie is amazing. The way she connects with the crowd is like no other. Hope she comes back.

  • Performer great. Venue needs work.

by Justine on 11/20/22House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 3 out of 5

Thought Jessie Reyez was as great. My only issues were with the place. The place was just so packed it was impossible to get a good view. the base was so loud that the subwoofers actually sounded terrible. Her mic could have been on louder because it was really hard to hear her

  • Superb

Jessie is a rare gem! Her poetry and music saved my life!

  • Perfect

Everything was amazing. Jessie’s performance was spectacular and the venue’s employees were very welcoming. I felt secure and safe as well! Great Job on behalf of the entire house of blues crew

  • A concert you wont want to miss!

by Will on 11/20/22House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

She is very down to earth, and lighthearted during her performances. She'll make a whole room smile, laugh, stand-up and cry all in one show. She such a humble person and you walk away feeling like you know after the shows over. She closed out Orlando, heard us cheering for an encore and came right back out for four more songs. She that type of artist and I enjoyed her House of Blues session immensely. I will see her again when she goes on her next tour.

  • Best Night Ever

by Jules on 11/20/22House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

I got the VIP tickets for the show and I wish I could go back in time to do the concert over again. Literally made my year. Only thing I would suggest is offering a meet and greet, having VIP have its own designated spot, possibly having chair available as well. Concerning the venue, the drinks were way over priced and I think they should've put the AC on cooler. Shout out to the bartender though, because he did give free waters when asked. Jessie's concert is literally so affordable, I wouldn't mind spending more if it meant if I went to the bathroom I could still come back to my same spot or I could actually meet her.

  • One of the best nights I’ve had in a long time 💗

by Des on 11/20/22House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

This show was so beautiful & Jessie was so fun & interactive! She brought her true self to that stage & made sure everyone else was okay at all times & she made us laugh & had us just be ourselves. It was amazing.

  • I love her even more now

by Denisse on 11/20/22House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

She is so amazing live. Her voice, her energy, when she speaks. Her music has helped me through life and seeing her perform just made me feel so complete. I love how engaged she is with the audience and took the time to reach out to all groups and made me feel very included.

  • Her openers were just as good as her

by DonDaDa on 11/19/22The Underground - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

The two openers were just as good as Jessie and they kept the crowd hyped and energized then the light shows are spot on

  • Spectacular

by JakeandChelcie on 11/19/22The Underground - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

From beginning to end, her show was beautiful and intimate. Her openers showed her love and rode that energy all night. 10/10 would go to every show if we could. After just having a baby and loosing a couple family members, this really balanced the highs with the lows for us.

  • AMAZING

by Quanita on 11/19/22The Underground - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

Just from start to finish amazing! Enjoyed the whole venue. Plus nothing bad happened.

  • Beautiful vibes

    by M. D. on 11/18/22Rating: 5 out of 5

I was introduced to Jessie by a friend about 6 years ago and I was obsessed. I went to her Silver Spring concert and it was such a good time!! Not only were her vocals great but her chemistry with the audience is amazing. She really does love her fans and it shows through the way she is on stage 10/10 would go again

  • Good vibes

by Christina Rodriguez on 11/18/22Rating: 5 out of 5

Jessie Reyes is a whole vibe. I saw her at House of Blues Orlando, and she was amazing! If you don’t like a sing-along show, don’t go!

  • Absolutely incredible!!

by Angelina on 11/18/22Rating: 5 out of 5

I have loved Jessie for years and got to see her open for Billie Eilish in 2020. I had bought tickets to see her later in 2020 for her own tour but got cancelled due to covid. Getting to see her last night was absolutely amazing and I can’t wait to see her again on tour.

  • Unforgettable Performance

by Violet on 11/18/22The Fillmore Philadelphia - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

I have been to a lot of shows in the past 10 years, but nothing I have seen has compared to this experience. Jessie Reyez is a phenomenal performer, artist, and human being. I bought tickets with my boyfriend in mind because he has been a huge fan of hers for years, but I walked out of there knowing we were going to be getting tickets every time she comes around in the future. Truly magnificent.

  • Dynamic!

by Longtime fan! on 11/18/22The Fillmore Silver Spring - Silver SpringRating: 5 out of 5

Jessie is a phenomenal performer from beginning to end. Jessie is the best because she puts her all into each song performance. Jessie's interactions with the audience made the show that much better. Everyone is included. This was one of the best shows I've seen this year.

  • Jessie killed it

by Kels on 11/17/22The Fillmore Silver Spring - Silver SpringRating: 5 out of 5

Honestly the venue was packed and could probably have used more space but the sound was amazing. The openers were great, the lighting was good. The venue itself could have been arranged better to allow people in the back to see better, but there’s so little that could have taken her rating down from 5 stars.

  • Underwhelmed

by LuckyRN on 11/17/22The Fillmore Silver Spring - Silver SpringRating: 3 out of 5

Looked forward to this concert for months. On my top 5 favorite artists. Didn’t head but 1 song from new album. Definitely will attend her online concerts from now on. Best money ever spent. Finally decided to see a live concert, and super disappointed. Still love Yessie, will be a long time before I attend another live concert.

  • Jessie Reyez was exceptional!

by Kev on 11/17/22The Fillmore Silver Spring - Silver SpringRating: 5 out of 5

I truly enjoyed my time at the Fillmore to attend this concert. Jessie had great energy and also very talented opening performances from Nina and Layla.
