Jessie Reyez in Concert
Combining unapologetic lyrics with in-your-face vocals, Toronto-born singer-songwriter Jessie Reyez is one of pop's brashest personalities. Reyez played guitar as a child and realized she was a music writer while in high school. In 2014 she collaborated with Chicago-based MC King Louie on his Canada-saluting track "Living in the Sky." In 2016 she broke through on her own with "Figures," a stark post-breakup track paired with a gripping video that showcased Reyez's raw feeling. "Evoking emotion from people is always a byproduct," Reyez told Genius. "It's not like I aimed to do that, but it's a beautiful byproduct that happens to come from certain songs."
Now, as a recipient of a JUNO award, 2018 Breakthrough Artist of the Year, she could say her subsequent catalog has been an object lesson in releasing that byproduct. Her debut EP, 2017's 'Kiddo,' was steeped in feeling while also showing off her musical range and the delirious "Shutter Island" pairs her yowl with macabre carnival music, while "Great One" shows off her softer side, its plush synths allowing her to luxuriate in existential questions like "What is life? What is love? What is time? What is choice?" The harrowing 'Kiddo' track "Gatekeeper," accompanied by a short film that she cowrote, turned a #MeToo-worthy experience from years ago that almost led to her quitting the music business into an artistic triumph.
While gearing up for the release of her second EP, 'Being Human in Public,' Reyez has kept busy with guest appearances and relentless touring. Her reworking of "Figures," performed with fellow Canadian Daniel Caesar at the 2018 JUNO Awards, added a dramatic twist to the song's heartbroken narrative; her turn as Eminem's foil on the controversial MC's 2018 track "Nice Guy" shows how she can hold her own against music's biggest names; and her performances at festivals like Lollapalooza and Afropunk have electrified huge crowds. Reyez's rise is proof that pure feeling can be a powerful connector.

This was my third time seeing Jessie Live and it felt like the first time all over again 😩🔥 can’t wait to see her again.
Jessie was amazing! Great live performance! Felt intimate with just her and the band on the stage! My first time at the met! Great food! Comfy seats! Great staff! Drinks just a little pricey!
It was so fun! This was my first time and pit and it made me realize i definitely want to get pit tickets for as long as i go to concerts! It's like she connected with us so much and im so happy i finally got to see her!
this was the Best Concert Experience I have ever been to! Jessie is a Legend!!! She is so talented and so down to earth and I love her I wish I could be at every concert but it will forever be engraved in my memory
Proud of her. She handled the stage like a pro and the production was just that…a production.
She’s the best! Best performer! Best concert I’ve been to in a long time ❤️
I love that the fast pass people were allowed inside to wait. Water was available if needed. The guy handling the fast pass guest was very welcoming, funny, and sweet. The concert itself was a 10/10.
The venue is beautiful at The Filmore and Jessie always puts on a fantastic show! I will be back everytime she comes to Michigan! Love her so much!
Amazing show, the whole upper stage on top of the screen was unexpectedly fantastic, when she ran back out for one more song my friends daughter got to touch her and that is something she will remember for the rest of her life. The Sylvee is a wonderful venue, highly recommend it made the show feel more personal. The affirmations will be unforgettable and the way she valued us all for being there I feel is unheard of in most artists now a days. She definitely Paid us in memories. If you get the opportunity go see Jessie Reyez preform, you will NOT regret it.
Jessie Reyez was so entertaining! Her performance was spot on. Every song on her set list I wanted to hear. She interacted with the audience like no other artist I’ve ever seen. The band was excellent, graphics were just so awesome, Jessie was phenomenal! I left feeling amazing & like I had just made 1,000 new friends there with me. I would definitely see her again!
She went above and beyond to make sure it was a great show! She talked to us like we were real people. People were getting to drunk She made sure they were OK before continuing on with the show. Can't wait for her to tour again near by we will be going again!!!
Jessie Reyez has an amazing album and she did not disappoint with her performance and crowd engagement. The venue was perfect and intimate which made the experience even better. Despite that she did sell out. I was so pumped that I even bought merchandise which I never do. Can’t wait to see her live again.
Such a fun show and she brings on a healing energy with her performance. My only complaint is that her concert was a bit short, please give us a little more time with you!
Every time Jessie comes to Chicago she always put on an amazing show.
I need another round. The opening act had an amazing voice and then Jessie speechless. She a real girly!
Jessie was so energetic and fun. It was the best night and the energy and vibes were perfect
I paid almost $200 for a vip ticket and all that included was early entry to the venue.. I wish it would’ve been clearly stated what came with that. I mean a least a little poster or a bracelet or something. the food and drinks were insanely expensive. I love jessie very much she’s my favorite artist but i’ve had way better experiences than this.. it felt like a waste of money
Jessie once again thrilled us with an exciting and joyful song-a-long. The venue was great; pleasant and helpful staff, a full bar, allowed outside food in, and is sized perfectly so every space is a perfect and pretty up close view. This is my second Jessie concert and third show at this venue!!!!! My favorite all time artists at my favorite venue and both are kid friendly.
This was my first time seeing Jessie Reyez. It was more amazing than I could have ever imagined. She is so good. She sounds exactly if not better than on her records and her energy is amazing and she is very enjoyable to watch.
Jessie Reyes looked amazing, sounded amazing, looked amazing, and the set was amazing! She did her big one.
