About

Jennifer Nettles music has been with us for so long, it is easy for ticket buyers to forget that she is only now starting her journey as a solo artist. For nearly a decade, Nettles has lent her alternately smoky, soulful and sassy voice to the country music duo Sugarland, and in the process netted two Grammys to go along with five Academy of Country Music Awards, and five #1 Country singles. During those years, Sugarland's music grew exponentially, with 2010's The Incredible Machine, an album filled with anthemic rockers meant to fill stadiums, expanding the very idea of what country music is and can be. Now, after the Georgia native took time away from her band's relentless tour schedule to become a mom, Nettles is spreading her wings as a solo act. For "That Girl," the first single of the forthcoming record, Nettles builds on the other woman persona that she adopted in the Sugarland hit "Stay," adding sultriness with the addition of Latin rhythms. With legendary producer Rick Rubin at the helm of the new project, it's safe to expect even more surprising platforms for Nettles's rich, emotional instrument both on record and in concert.

This show was a good mix of hits and holiday tunes with a great personality mixed in. I was pleasantly surprised to see this type of show. Jennifer Nettles did an outstanding job and it was the right kind of show.

  • Lively show, bad acoustics, late arrivals

by RonnieMJ on 12/18/17Von Braun Center Concert Hall - HuntsvilleRating: 3 out of 5

Jennifer Nettles was excited about doing the concert in Huntsville and it showed in her performance! The concert started 20 minutes late though and a full 1/3 of the concert goers arrived after the 8pm start - is this typical? The base sound was turned up way too high-my chest was pounding at times. My wife knew her songs!

  • Jennifer Nettles was great!!

  • Lacked Christmas spirit

by LPLPC on 12/17/17Von Braun Center Concert Hall - HuntsvilleRating: 3 out of 5

    1. Lines for security screening were so long and slow that the show had to be delayed 20 minutes. 2. Stage was rather bare, looking hastily set up. 3. Jennifer's performance was okay, but presented as being rather thrown together. 4. Several rude audience members kept yelling things out in between songs. 5. We really did not need the 15 minute commercial break to pressure the audience in to supporting the organization that Jennifer chose. 6. Bad members looked like they walked in off the street. 7. Not quite the Christmas show I had hoped for...didn't really put me in the holiday spirit.

  • She is amazing!

  • Jennifer Nettles Concert

by bamafan100 on 12/17/17Von Braun Center Concert Hall - HuntsvilleRating: 1 out of 5

The event was billed as Jennifer Nettles' Christmas Concert. It should have been titled Jennifer Nettles' December Concert Which Includes 4 Christmas Songs. She has a great, strong voice but my wife and I could not understand a word in any of her songs except the Christmas songs. She needs to work on her enunciation. Also, the concert hall was too cold. I wore a sport coat but was still cold. My wife was wearing a sweater but shuddered throughout the evening.

Her songs made your heart soar! She has a voice that can reach any note and never waver. Beautiful renditions of favorite Christmas songs. Her hits from Sugarland and her own album were also entertaining. Very good show!

  • Jennifer Nettles has a great voice but...

by CKRgal on 12/17/17Von Braun Center Concert Hall - HuntsvilleRating: 5 out of 5

We saw Robert Earl Keen at the Lyric the same week. His show was over the top, and JN was middle of the road.. not the showmanship that we have seen her do on tv, but voice is incredible. It wasn’t a bad show, but there was no comparison and we thought there would be....sorry to say....

  • Jennifer Nettles has an amazing voice

by LaurenRosie on 12/15/17The Palace Theatre Albany - AlbanyRating: 5 out of 5

The sound was too loud for this venue and the sound was adjusted terribly--the treble ranges of Jennifer's voice and of the instruments--snare drum, electric guitar were absolutely ear piercing. They distracted from the enjoyment of the songs. The lower decibel ranges would be ok and then as soon as higher pitched sounds came it was a dramatic difference in loudness and it was tinny, sharp, uncomfortable to listen to. We raised this issue with an usher who agreed with us about the sound. She was able to secure ear plugs for me and my friend so that we could keep our seats in row B, right, and enjoy the concert better. The charity solicitation was not appreciated. We were a captive audience and were encouraged give right then and there--to use the flash light on our cell phones and fill out the donation form with the pen that was provided--and if we did not sponsor the child pictured on our donation pamphlet that we should turn it in lest the child go unsponsored!!--at $39 a month. People came around and collected these. It put the audience on the spot to say the least. The promoter of the charity told a personal story of getting and giving support based on this charity here in America. That was not in keeping with the pamphlet which featured children from third world countries. (I give monthly to charities to support children and women in third world countries). Somehow it all did not add up. Did not like this one bit. If this is what Jennifer Nettles does at all her concerts, I will not be going to another one. Lastly it was advertised as a Christmas concert. The stage was completely bare except for the band and their equipment. It in no way was Christmasy except for some Christmas songs she sang. Very disappointed. The venue is beautiful. This concert was not.
