About

Jennifer Nettles music has been with us for so long, it is easy for ticket buyers to forget that she is only now starting her journey as a solo artist. For nearly a decade, Nettles has lent her alternately smoky, soulful and sassy voice to the country music duo Sugarland, and in the process netted two Grammys to go along with five Academy of Country Music Awards, and five #1 Country singles. During those years, Sugarland's music grew exponentially, with 2010's The Incredible Machine, an album filled with anthemic rockers meant to fill stadiums, expanding the very idea of what country music is and can be. Now, after the Georgia native took time away from her band's relentless tour schedule to become a mom, Nettles is spreading her wings as a solo act. For "That Girl," the first single of the forthcoming record, Nettles builds on the other woman persona that she adopted in the Sugarland hit "Stay," adding sultriness with the addition of Latin rhythms. With legendary producer Rick Rubin at the helm of the new project, it's safe to expect even more surprising platforms for Nettles's rich, emotional instrument both on record and in concert.

  • Great show all on her own!

by TaJesse on 3/12/14Toyota Oakdale Theatre - WallingfordRating: 5 out of 5

Jennifer put on a great show by herself after all she is THE VOICE of Sugarland. Only wish the show had been a little longer. It was barely 90 mins. The sound system was crystal clear so heard very word song.

  • Jennifer Nettls was great but not on long enough

by DDots on 3/11/14House of Blues Boston - BostonRating: 3 out of 5

The Stadium seating in the House of Blues is extremely uncomfortable. Jennifer Nettles was sensational but on for far too short a time and did far too few of the well know hits that made her famous. The songs she sang from her new album seemed quite good and many potential hits.

  • Jennifer was amazing

by ctboopster on 3/11/14Toyota Oakdale Theatre - WallingfordRating: 5 out of 5

Jennifer is an all around show person and knows how to work her audience. Would go see her again tomorrow if I could.

by Jojoeck8 on 3/11/14House of Blues Boston - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Show was amazing, such a great experience to have seen her in such a small venue. Every song she sang wether you knew every word or not was great to listen to.

  • Jennifer great House of Blues BAD

by 4444 on 3/11/14House of Blues Boston - BostonRating: 3 out of 5

Jennifer Nettles was Great from what I could hear, I have no idea what the show looked like because the viewing at the House of Blues is terrible unless you are on the floor in front of the stage. Second and third floor are a waste of money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The tickets should be cheaper and considered obstructed view unless you are one of the lucky ones that gets up to the railing

  • Jennifer Nettles was great!!

Great Concert! Jennifer is as good as a solo act as she is with Sugarland.

  • Jennifer & Brandy - do not miss this!!!

    by CCB32 on 3/10/14Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Incredible! Just when you think she could not sound more perfect, you hear her live, and you are forever changed! I was pleasantly surprised By Brandy Clark too! I did not know much of her music before but I haven't been able to get her songs out of my head since the show! :)

  • Jennifer Nettles has a great set of pipes!!

by nuviewbriards on 3/10/14Toyota Oakdale Theatre - WallingfordRating: 5 out of 5

Jennifer Nettles has a great set of pipes!! Boy, can she sing!! Her show was excellent and I would definitely see her again.

  • Too Much Band!!!!

    by NettlesFan14 on 3/10/14Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 3 out of 5

She was awesome.....when you could hear her voice!!!! The way the sound was mixed, the band totally over powered her and you could not hear the words to her songs or her wonderful voice!! Very Frustrating. Even just the base guitar was louder than her voice. Who did the mixing....a 20 year old rock dude??? The band was talented....but way to loud to be able to enjoy.

  • Jennifer gave an excellent performance

    by daddyg145 on 3/10/14Toyota Oakdale Theatre - WallingfordRating: 5 out of 5

Something for everyone. Some old songs, some new songs, some songs outside of country and lots of country. Enjoyed every minute of her hour and a half show.

  • That Girl has a fantastic voice!

by RichSad on 3/10/14Toyota Oakdale Theatre - WallingfordRating: 4 out of 5

First we were treated to newcomer Brandy Clark. She was delightful and performed some of her famous songs she wrote for others such as "Better Dig Two" and "Mama's Broken Heart." She really got the audience laughing with her intro and performance of her song "Get High." Jennifer was amazing. I had seen her with Sugarland so new how good she was. At this show the volume wasn't as loud as Sugarland but the vocals were louder than the supporting band. Her new material is generally slower and more jazzy than Sugarland songs. She is such an incredible singer. I love watching her perform because in addition to that heavenly voice she tends to tell the song's story with her hands. For a few songs she played acoustic guitar and a couple on piano. The band backing her up was excellent. I can't recall the lead guitarist's name but he really stood out. For many songs he used a 12-string acoustic that sounded awesome. He could rock when he wanted to. Rest of the band was solid but understated. I hate to use this word but at times the concert felt a little boring compared to Sugarland. That's not to say I didn't enjoy every single song by both artists. The material covers a wider spectrum of music than Sugarland. I hope Sugarland tours again. I would drop everything to go see them again. Don't let this comment discourage you from seeing Jennifer's solo show. Just be prepared for music that is a bit mellower than her work with Sugarland. Lastly I want to comment on the venue. I really enjoy concerts at the Toyota Oakdale Theatre. This was my third show there. We had seen Lady A there too before they were the huge stars they are today. There really aren't any bad seats in the house. We were farther back than I've been at the two previous shows. I'm an aging rocker and wouldn't have minded if the music was a little louder. My other complaint is they seemed to have run out of food around the end of the intermission between Brandy and Jennifer.

  • Jennifer Nettles was awesome

    by Sadie34 on 3/10/14Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Excellant show, opening act Brandy Clark was very good, and Jennifer delivered a great show. Specially like Mark Cohn as her guest. Only complaint - there was too much time between Brandy leaving the stage and Jennifer taking it.

  • Jennifer Nettles solo... What a voice!

    by Sentry927 on 3/10/14Toyota Oakdale Theatre - WallingfordRating: 5 out of 5

Jennifer Nettles is an entertainer, not only does she have one of the most powerful voices in today's music, but the passion with which she delivers her songs is heartfelt. We also enjoyed her interaction with the audience and her friendly "way" of connecting with the audience. Love the new music and look forward to her next solo album.

  • very good

by jalosso on 3/10/14Toyota Oakdale Theatre - WallingfordRating: 5 out of 5

Jennifer was great, and Brandy Clark (who I never heard of) was wonderful.

  • AMAZING!

by JCLovesMusic on 3/10/14Toyota Oakdale Theatre - WallingfordRating: 5 out of 5

Jennifer Nettles is just an amazing talent. Her voice was powerful, clear and just so beautiful. Watching the show at Oakdale is like having her in your living room. The acoustics were perfect. It was the best performance I have ever been to. It was spiritually uplifting, entertaining and engaging all at the same time.

  • Jennifer Nettles is my favorite singer
