Jennifer Nettles music has been with us for so long, it is easy for ticket buyers to forget that she is only now starting her journey as a solo artist. For nearly a decade, Nettles has lent her alternately smoky, soulful and sassy voice to the country music duo Sugarland, and in the process netted two Grammys to go along with five Academy of Country Music Awards, and five #1 Country singles. During those years, Sugarland's music grew exponentially, with 2010's The Incredible Machine, an album filled with anthemic rockers meant to fill stadiums, expanding the very idea of what country music is and can be. Now, after the Georgia native took time away from her band's relentless tour schedule to become a mom, Nettles is spreading her wings as a solo act. For "That Girl," the first single of the forthcoming record, Nettles builds on the other woman persona that she adopted in the Sugarland hit "Stay," adding sultriness with the addition of Latin rhythms. With legendary producer Rick Rubin at the helm of the new project, it's safe to expect even more surprising platforms for Nettles's rich, emotional instrument both on record and in concert.

Personally, I think she has one of the best voices in the industry and her new material exhibits her full range of talent.
Brandy Clark was great. Nettles was great. Be prepared majority of songs are from her most recent album. Sound quality was okay, background sound covered up her voice way more than I'd like. -The piano blocked backup singers/guitar players & drummer through entire show. Large screen on wall that I had to crank my head back around to see, causing a neckache. Crappy, uncomfortable chairs crammed together so that people had to touch you get by. Terrible seats in which I paid full price for-what a waste! (Section A, Row 6, Seat 27)
I had gotten to see Jennifer Nettles with Kristian Bush as Sugarland when they opened for Brooks and Dunn at the Minnesota State Fair and knew as soon as I saw she was coming back to Minnesota that I had to have tickets. Many artists don't sound anything like their albums in person but she absolutely does! Her voice is true to her CD's. She doesn't need all the dancing, pyrotechnics and costume changes to get attention! All she has to do is sing! I enjoyed this show tremendously! I can't wait to see her again!
Brandy Clark opened for Jennifer precisely on time. She was quite a treat, as a song writer, with many known songs, performing for herself. As she stated, others far better known than I, have preformed my songs. But she was excellent. However, then we had to deal with a nearly 40 minute break, for no apparent reason, besides allowing for massive sales of alcohol. There was no stage changes or anything I could see for the extended break. When Jennifer finally came on, her performance did not disappoint, albeit, she only sang for a little over 80 minutes. She did mix her songs from her solo album nicely with many Sugarland tunes.
Enjoyed the venue and the the concert. Especially enjoyed that the employees DID NOT allow standing and unruly loud people. Nettles and opening act both great.
Writing this review makes me want to go back to Saturday night! The show was incredible. It started off with Brandy Clark opening the show. She was great, I recognized a few songs she had written for Miranda Lambert and The Band Perry, and then her own songs off her album were really great. She's a great writer and the fact that she can also sing makes it that much better. As an avid Sugarland fan, I was anxious to see Jennifer's show. The energy of it was obviously a little more intimate and calm versus the arena shows, but the connection I felt with her as she sang was just the same. She really knows how to reach the audience. She also has a great sense of humor and a lovely personality so the in between chatter and random dance moves were just pure fun. I love her new sound and feel like the album is definitely more personal. I really hope I can see this show at least one more time!
Jennifer Nettles gave us a great performance in the small venue at the Grand Casino Hinckley event center. Even though the room was small Jennifer's performance was no less enthusiastic than if we were somewhere much larger. She rocked the house with her big voice and her awesome presence!
she was totally amazing. Bought her new album before hand and enjoyed hearing them sung live. Fabulous concert
that nettles girl can sing! she sounds as good if not better than a studio recording and Brandy Clark was fantastic as well yes i was entertained, which is the objective of going to a concert. although convention center at Grand Casino Hinckley was nothing special didnt notice since musicians were so entertaining
Jennifer sang for us for close to an hour and a half and her warm honey voice was strong throughout. Her engaging personality draws you in and never lets you go. This was one of the best concert experiences we have ever had. It was well worth the two hour drive, back and forth.!
I purchased the tickets for Christmas as a gift to my husband. He so loves her (as I do). She puts heart and soul into her songs, she reminds me so much of Reba! We were also extreamly happy with the opener Brandy Clark! She was so good!!!! Would tell any one to go see either or both of them.
Jennifer has lost nothing with the split with Christion Bush. She has a voice that makes you just stare in disbelief. My Wife and I have been waiting to see her as Sugarland and had our doubts, but after her performance on March 15th, there are none. If you want to see one of the best concerts you will ever see. Jennifer Nettles is a must.
The venue is a big ballroom with chairs on the floor...those of us on the edges (the seating was set to almost surround the stage) were essentially forced to watch the show on projection screens on the wall (craning our neck) as directly viewing the the performers was obscured by staging stagehands etc. The sound was adequate but at these prices, it was disappointing. Brandy Clark (the opening act) was very good, however the amount of time between her ending her set and the start of Jennifer Nettles show was inordinately long. (The amount 're-setting' the stage consisted of replacing one microphone stand!) The main show was a good, but probably could be lengthened for 2-3 extra numbers. It would be nice for those of us forced to watch the projection screens to have more than one camera view and have it pull back more often so the band members could be viewed also.
Was a great concert. She is a great singer. We really enjoyed Brandy Clark also.
The Hinckely Casino is not a good location for a concert...I would not pay the price to see someone perform there again. Jennifer was wonderful, but the location took away from the performance.
Took my 72 year old father to see Jennifer Nettles at Grand Casino Hinkley. He had been looking forward to this for months and was beyond excited to be sitting close...5th row side stage.Upon arrival the view we had...well from looking at the pictures you can clearly see that a piano was blocking any view of the singer and so my father was beyond heartbroken. 3 different people came out to say..we have added chairs for more seating and all kinds of other excuses....not be able to see a performer..there is no excuse and he along with others around should have been relocated or placed ON the stage to see her perform. No refunds offered and with her being on the road...the chance for doing this over is not going to happen. This gift of taking my father to see his FAVORITE performer became a nightmare. Thanks a million Grand Casino...
The concert was very good, both artists performing were awesome. It was hard because the show was held in a large reception room with chairs tight together which was uncomfortable. Some of the people at concert were obnoxious (aka stupidly drunk) but you always get some of those. I guess other than that it was good, enjoyed seeing Jennifer nettles.
The show was outstanding but I would never attend another concert at Grand Casino Hinkley. For all the money the Casino makes they should be able to afford a showroom that has stadium seating. All the seating being on the same level makes for a very unsatisfactory experience
I absolutely love Jennifer Nettles' voice; however, her new solo debut did not do it for me. I much prefer her upbeat songs that she performs with Kristian Bush of Sugarland. There is no denying everything she sings she puts her heart and soul into, but for my personal taste, her non-Sugarland songs were too slow. I would see her time and time again with Sugarland and have all of their albums, but I won't be buying any of her new material or going to any more of her solo concerts. As always, she was very personable with her audience which is a very endearing trait. Thoroughly enjoyed her opening act of Brandy Clark!
This concert was just outstanding. I have been seeing sugarland for years and loved every single concert I have been too! Jennifer Nettles new cd is amazing also. Her songs are so comforting and about real life events. When she sings she definately sings from the heart and the audience can just tell how much should loves her job and her singing career. I was so excited to hear thag she was coming to concert and was online buying tickets right as they went on sale. I was interested to hear what her concert was gonna be like without Kristian Bush singing with her. I was so happy when she plate her old songs as well as her new songs. Jennifer is definately mu favorite music artist and she puts on a great show everytime. I always want to hear more when im at her concerts. Jennifer is a down to earth person and that makes her signing feel real as well. Love Jennifer Nettles and xcant wait for her nect concert.
