About

Writer/Director/Producer Je’Caryous Johnson who brought you the sold out hit play, “Married But Single” and the hilarious romantic comedy, “Two Can Play That Game” is back with another one – Je’Caryous Johnson presents SET IT OFF based on the hit iconic movie by the same name. Fans will get to relive the ride that made them love SET IT OFF the movie, but this time around they will experience it LIVE ON STAGE.
The hit heist, cult classic movie you love is now a stage play and coming to your city. The same iconic characters – Frankie, Tisean (T.T.), Stoney and Cleo are back bringing the same action packed, adrenaline filled robbery scenes and emotionally charged antics against an equally exciting music soundtrack that will have you on the edge of your seat. Multi–platinum selling rapper DA BRAT will be starring as Cleopatra “CLEO” Sims, the role originally played by Queen Latifah in the movie. Fans will recall SET IT OFF centers on four childhood friends who spent a lifetime struggling to move away from the mean streets of their neighborhood. The system stole their dreams and now the four are determined to steal them back. With their world in turmoil and their backs against the wall, they decide to seek their fortune - literally. Targeting the banks of Los Angeles, Cleo, Stony, Tisean (T.T.) and Frankie rob the city's most vulnerable financial institutions. Flush with cash, they discover that mo’ money equals mo’ problems.

  • Je'Caryous Johnson pulled it off

by thecozy1 on 3/13/18Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

I wasn't exactly sure how the film would translate into a play but Mr. Johnson and team pulled it off. Great job. I will note the show started 30 mintes late, which ruined the first several minutes of the play for me as I stewed in my sit about the late start. I was also disturbed by the people who showed up halfway through the show that I had to move or stand up for so they could be seated. However, overall it was a great show and I would definitely recommend seeing it if you have the opportunity. Oh, and although I loved all the actors - special shout out to Da Brat. It really would not be the same show without her incredible performance.

I really enjoyed the play and think everyone did an outstanding job. Especially the Brat she was funny and kept me laughing. On another note I feel the stage appearance could of been better; the background should of went with the movie. I was disappointed in the lack of stage props; but I was over satisfied with how great everyone did executing their parts.........

  • Good show

Very good show, acting was good. Much better than I expected. They added a few updated lines and props to be more current. Only complaint is the minimal amount of bartenders and places to get refreshments.

  • Missed The Mark

If left to much up to your imagination. You can't take on a movie like Set It Off and not come through with all the movie. You could see the prop guy moving the furniture for different scenes. People who were supposed to be dead get up and walk off the stage. You were robbing a bank with no bank. And then you come out with half a car with someone pushing it . The play didn't end like the movie. I did not like the play. This is the worst play you have ever tried to rewrite.

  • Amazing Performance by ALL

My daughter and I attended our first Je'Caryous stage play. We were not disappointed. ALL of the cast members played their roles. Da Brat was my favorite with her dramatics! Her ending scene was phenominal. She could be seen laughing at herself. #AMustSee

For the first time on stage, Da Brat proved she is a born entertainer. The other three ladies nailed their roles. The gentleman were awesome as well. Can’t wait to see what they all tackle next.
