Writer/Director/Producer Je’Caryous Johnson who brought you the sold out hit play, “Married But Single” and the hilarious romantic comedy, “Two Can Play That Game” is back with another one – Je’Caryous Johnson presents SET IT OFF based on the hit iconic movie by the same name. Fans will get to relive the ride that made them love SET IT OFF the movie, but this time around they will experience it LIVE ON STAGE.
The hit heist, cult classic movie you love is now a stage play and coming to your city. The same iconic characters – Frankie, Tisean (T.T.), Stoney and Cleo are back bringing the same action packed, adrenaline filled robbery scenes and emotionally charged antics against an equally exciting music soundtrack that will have you on the edge of your seat. Multi–platinum selling rapper DA BRAT will be starring as Cleopatra “CLEO” Sims, the role originally played by Queen Latifah in the movie. The system stole their dreams and now the four are determined to steal them back. With their world in turmoil and their backs against the wall, they decide to seek their fortune - literally. Targeting the banks of Los Angeles, Cleo, Stony, Tisean (T.T.) and Frankie rob the city's most vulnerable financial institutions. Flush with cash, they discover that mo’ money equals mo’ problems.

  • Set It Off was Horrible!

    by WorstEver2 on 3/19/18Warner Theatre - WashingtonRating: 1 out of 5

I was very disappointed in the play as the acting was very poor. Although, I must hand it to Da Brat, she was the bomb in her role. The other actors were "poor actors", some forgetting their lines...It was also sad that the actors who could sing, did not sing. LaToya Luckett and Demetria McKinney, should have had singing roles. I have been to quite a few plays, and this one was by far the worst.

  • was not a professional production

It was not a quality production, i think the story was great as an movie but did not work as a play

  • With the experience but not worth the expense

    by JayBee410 on 3/19/18Warner Theatre - WashingtonRating: 3 out of 5

I was excited when I heard that one of my favorite movies from Young adulthood was coming to the stage. I think the storyline was nicely done and it pretty much paid homage to the original screenplay. The actors and actresses were great but there was a low budget feel to the production ( I believe some of this could have been attributed to opening night difficulties because I have friends that went both Friday and Sunday and they said Sunday was the better production). My tickets were about $100 and I feel for that price there shouldn't have been sound issues there could have been a little bit more wow factors in the production to make you feel like you got your money's worth....Cleo's death scene was the highlight of the play and was nicely done. Anyone who has visited the venue knows that if you are the size of an average American or larger you won't be comfortable in the seats at the Warner... you just have to accept that going in. Overall, if pre-production nuances were worked out prior to opening night in that particular city and stunts were done with a little bit more finesse, it would have been well worth the expense as well as the experience.

  • Have little expectations

by Anonymous on 3/19/18Warner Theatre - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

I don't mean have little expectations in a bad way, but if you're looking to cry or really feel the emotions you felt in the mood...forget about it. However, I still enjoyed it and would recommend to others. The actors and actresses did a great job portraying the characters. I wish the audience didn't laugh so much, but you can't control that.

  • Set it Off was good, but....

by Woeism on 3/17/18Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - AtlantaRating: 2 out of 5

The live production of Set it Off was really good. I enjoyed the comedic scenes, although I wish they had kept the death of Stoney's brother serious. The venue - Cobb Energy Center wasn't that great. The online seating chart wasn't accurate, the food (or rather snack) choices were subpar, and exiting the garage (even just from the 2nd level) was a nightmare.

  • Wonderful play!
