About

Writer/Director/Producer Je’Caryous Johnson who brought you the sold out hit play, “Married But Single” and the hilarious romantic comedy, “Two Can Play That Game” is back with another one – Je’Caryous Johnson presents SET IT OFF based on the hit iconic movie by the same name. Fans will get to relive the ride that made them love SET IT OFF the movie, but this time around they will experience it LIVE ON STAGE.
The hit heist, cult classic movie you love is now a stage play and coming to your city. The same iconic characters – Frankie, Tisean (T.T.), Stoney and Cleo are back bringing the same action packed, adrenaline filled robbery scenes and emotionally charged antics against an equally exciting music soundtrack that will have you on the edge of your seat. Multi–platinum selling rapper DA BRAT will be starring as Cleopatra “CLEO” Sims, the role originally played by Queen Latifah in the movie. Fans will recall SET IT OFF centers on four childhood friends who spent a lifetime struggling to move away from the mean streets of their neighborhood. The system stole their dreams and now the four are determined to steal them back. With their world in turmoil and their backs against the wall, they decide to seek their fortune - literally. Targeting the banks of Los Angeles, Cleo, Stony, Tisean (T.T.) and Frankie rob the city's most vulnerable financial institutions. Flush with cash, they discover that mo’ money equals mo’ problems.

The play was great. The acting was on point and the play kept true to the important elements of the movie. Especially loved Da'Brat...!

  • Low Budget

    by Bougie2018 on 3/20/18Warner Theatre - WashingtonRating: 2 out of 5

Our children’s high school put more effort into the set back drops and had more sophisticated scene transitions. Very disappointed.

  • The Brat was outstanding in the play

If you get a chance please go see the play. It was like you were watching the movie. Everyone did a phenomenal job. I definitely would see it again.

  • B-Play

by Truthslayer on 3/20/18Warner Theatre - WashingtonRating: 2 out of 5

Low budget adaptation of the original classic. And the audience made the experience even worse (talking during the play, coming in late & impeding the view of the stage, drunkenness, etc.). I will think twice about purchasing tickets for productions by this playwright.

  • Outstanding!!!

    by LYLES8 on 3/20/18Warner Theatre - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

I had doubts this play could grab the same emotional impact as the movie and I was absolutely proven wrong. The cast was beyond amazing and did an outstanding job!!! Da Brat gave me life with her dancing and facial expressions. The audience was so involved they were saying the lines with the actresses, clapping and even standing up to show just how much the actresses had us enjoying the show. I can't give the exciting parts away but trust me, if you see it you will understand. I have told everyone I know that they have to go experience this play. This play was hands down the best play I have ever seen. Great job Je'Caryous Johnson and all of the cast!!!

  • Absolutely Amazing!!

    by MsKandi35 on 3/20/18Warner Theatre - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

The play definitely exceeded my expectations. Set It Off is one of my favorite movies of all time, literally. So to see Mr. Johnson and cast reenact this play was phenomenal. I have to be honest and say that I was very skeptical about the play, but they overly exceeded my expectations. Not that Mr. Johnson didn’t already have my business and support from his “Things your Man won’t do 1 & 2” but he’s most definitely earned it. Keep blessing the world.

  • Set it off was the bomb

by SexeeV on 3/19/18Warner Theatre - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

The play was great even though I missed a short portion due to a loud and rude female that talk and interrupted the play since it started. Warner theater waited too long to escort her out!!

  • by Anonymous on 3/19/18Warner Theatre - WashingtonRating: 2 out of 5

It was dry poor acting, the only person who to over playing their character was Latoya Luckett (Frankie). Stage appearance could have been better.
