Writer/Director/Producer Je’Caryous Johnson who brought you the sold out hit play, “Married But Single” and the hilarious romantic comedy, “Two Can Play That Game” is back with another one – Je’Caryous Johnson presents SET IT OFF based on the hit iconic movie by the same name. Fans will get to relive the ride that made them love SET IT OFF the movie, but this time around they will experience it LIVE ON STAGE.
The hit heist, cult classic movie you love is now a stage play and coming to your city. The same iconic characters – Frankie, Tisean (T.T.), Stoney and Cleo are back bringing the same action packed, adrenaline filled robbery scenes and emotionally charged antics against an equally exciting music soundtrack that will have you on the edge of your seat. Multi–platinum selling rapper DA BRAT will be starring as Cleopatra “CLEO” Sims, the role originally played by Queen Latifah in the movie. Fans will recall SET IT OFF centers on four childhood friends who spent a lifetime struggling to move away from the mean streets of their neighborhood. The system stole their dreams and now the four are determined to steal them back. With their world in turmoil and their backs against the wall, they decide to seek their fortune - literally. Targeting the banks of Los Angeles, Cleo, Stony, Tisean (T.T.) and Frankie rob the city's most vulnerable financial institutions. Flush with cash, they discover that mo’ money equals mo’ problems.
Set it off was a very good play, not great but good.
This play was a pleasant surprise. It was well done, the actors were great.
Loved it! Fun! Latoya Luckett was spot on as Frankie! TeeTee was portrayed great as well! Brat was loved as Cleo! Brat even treated us to some rhymes! They try to stay true to the movie by including well known catch phrases from movie! Minor things were changed but it's understandable in a play. Wish I stayed for meet and greet afterwards!!! Still kicking myself!
Everyone needs to go and see this play.I'm going to see it again. All the actor's in it were great and beyond expectation.
While the show did not start on time, it was well worth the wait. All cast members did a good job. The only downside was one of the mics the cast used malfunctioned a bit.
Je'Caryous did a great job telling the story on stage and the updates to this time. DaBrat did her thing I would pay to see it again.
All the ladies did a great job. But Latoya did an amazing job! She played that role down to her body language. I enjoyed every minute.
The movie Set it Off is a classic and Je'Caryous Johnson did an Outstanding job of recreating the classic into a play! I found it was true to the movie however it touched on the reality of today's current issues in the communities. I can not say enought about the star studed cast and I play on going again Mother's Day Weekend and I told all my friends in the cities Set it Off is coming to soon! Go see it Go see it Go see it!!!!
The play was entertaining. The film was adapted to a more comical presentation. Overall worth watching, but ticket prices were not representative of the product.
Just a fun, well put together play that ingages your imagination!
Excellent! Characters was fantastic. It was funny.
For those that missed it, you missed it! The casting was phenomenal. They will be back in May on Mother's day weekend. Don't miss it again.
Set It Off Live was Amazing! I would see it again!
The play Set it off was outstanding. I wish I could give it 10 stars. . It's coming back to Washington, D.C. Mother's day weekend. I can't wait. Going again with friends.
The BRAT absolutely bought her A game! I was a bit concerned about someone playing Cleo other than the Queen, however, the BRAT bought the house down with her performance. LaTonya Luckett played Frankie's part well too. Loved the guy who played Luther:-)
This show was great! DaBrat was funny and everyone acted really well.
Excellent Play!!! I would go see it again. They did it.
Had such a great time. Good job Je’caryous Johnson!
