    Too restricting

by 1Angry1 on 5/29/13UCLA Intramural Field - Los Angeles

I used to attend this event back when it was free, now it's $30 plus fees, oh well, I guess. But the fact that you can't bring chairs is ridiculous. Having to sit on the hard ground for hours is extremely uncomfortable. AND, no where did it say you couldn't bring chairs, NOT ONE sign listed chairs. The acts were great but the experience was not.

    A great time as always

by BRUINette on 5/28/13UCLA Intramural Field - Los Angeles

I've gone to JazzReggae fest for the past 6 years now and the event has always delivered. The event is well organized & the lineup is always great. Good food, great vendors & I love their green initiative!

Common was awesome! No food until 5PM ...SUCKED

by Cubanito55 on 5/28/13UCLA Intramural Field - Los Angeles

The event had a great line up (Common, Santogold and Jhene Aiko to name a few) and the shops offerred a wide variety of goods from bracelets, rings, hennas, flags, and t-shirts. I loved the picnic idea and the ability to just lay around listening to good music. Unfortunately, the City shut down the food sales due to a water sanitation issue. This meant that we couldn't get food until well past 5PM! The vendors were irritated and so were we! Rather than let us grumble about this issue for the entire day, the staff allowed exit and reentry by handing out raffle tickets. This greatly helped as it gave us an opportunity to get food and come back to enjoy the music. Only other gripe, would be the lack of alcoholic beverages! It's a music festival!!! There should at least be the option of drinking a beer, margarita or double whiskey on the rocks. Next year, i'm bringing a flask.

Turn up at the jazz festival!

by TyfromLA on 5/28/13UCLA Intramural Field - Los Angeles

It was honestly so fun. Jhene aiko and common were freaking amazing. I just wished jhene performed longer. But what she did perform she killed it. The food was good, the shops were cute, and the people were very friendly. The campus was clean too. Plus security wasn't very strict which was chill. I would definitely go to another event like this again. I had a blast. Wish I had a time machine so I could experience it again with my friends.

by Teehijay on 5/28/13UCLA Intramural Field - Los Angeles

It was an awesome experience. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a wholesome family entertain in a culturally diverse setting. Santigold was something different and unique and of course her dancers killed it.

    Overall, we enjoyed ourselves.

by NCRice on 5/28/13UCLA Intramural Field - Los Angeles

I think overall it was a nice event, but I do think there could have been a lot of improvements. For instance, if you get the deluxe package for both days, they should give you different food. They gave you only one food option for both days. Also, I thought it was unlimited food and drinks. The drinks were unlimited, but food really wasn't. They also didn't have a variety of items. If you wanted ice-cream or any of the good stuff, you had to pay. The other issue I had was that the shaded area was to the side. We still had to find a great location in the middle of the lawn area to really enjoy the music. The shaded area was limited, and people would put their items on the chairs so you don't get a chance to sit for a minute. Not enough space for the amount of people. Also only two restrooms for the "vip" area. I liked that it was a family friendly area. I hated that everyone could smoke in public, although it's supposedly illegal to smoke in public. And I'm not referring to weed. It's cigarettes, I have a problem with. Especially with little kids around and families. Music was fun and entertaining. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves. I'm not sure the extra $30 is worth the Deluxe package. It doesn't include parking either.

    GREAT FESTIVAL!!

by Beautiful2kiss on 5/28/13UCLA Intramural Field - Los Angeles

Kudos to the students/staff who put on the Jazz Reggae Festival, it was a great show! I would say Reggae day was the best out of the 2 days, but both days didn't disappoint. The only downfall to the festival were all the drunk and rude people trying to steal spots. So annoying and completely killed my vibe. Ugh!

Jazz Reggae Festival : JAM DAY

by deniseblessed on 5/28/13UCLA Intramural Field - Los Angeles

Great annual festival!!!! With the exception of COMMON tearing the stage up :-).... I hear the Reggae day may have been better than Jam Day... just depends on the line up either way its a nice summer kick-off event with good food and great energy :-)

Jam Day was good kick off!

by missdems on 5/28/13UCLA Intramural Field - Los Angeles

Parking was easy which really surprised me. The vendors they had sold some nice things with real good deals. It was easy going around the venue site with different areas spaced out accordingly. The only down fall was that when first arriving, the food vendors were not allowed to sell due to a hot water issue. This is when they allowed re-entry for people to get food at the union. They eventually allowed the vendors to sell after the fact people went out to buy food. Seating was nice and manageable to getting around. The music was awesome even with the breaks in between the sets. Good line up of artists and great weather to top off the atmosphere. Good experience overall, I plan on attending next year's festivities, maybe for both days instead.
